I don't know if anyone else has brought this up yet, but I found the suposed 'renovations' to be quite a let down.

Being limited to 4/5 small, enclosed spaces take away from the grandeur of what the Citadel is suposed to be.
I realize the potential of  "exploring new locations"; however this seemed like a wasted chance at making the entire location better.

As of right now I think I might have set my sets to high, and at the moment being an Infiltrator
sucks.

If you wheren't by chance, dissapointed by the new Citadel, just mention something that struck you as odd.

Not really, unlike Omega the Citadel doesn't really play a major part and they've opened up new areas so it's not all that bad.

Its very disappointing, its just a tiny area like all the other cities, not enough open space.

I was a bit disappointed too. More so because I wanted to see what some of the old npcs were doing, like finding out why Sha'ira is thinking of leaving the Citadel even though I stopped all the supposed info leaks and etc in ME1.

Oh well, at least refund guy is still fighting the good fight, 2 years straight... Just what the hell did that guy buy

I didn't like how they laid out the citadel. Infact, I disliked how they laid out a lot of worlds. They seemed to small for my taste. Never the less, it did not take away from the game, but I still believe the gradeur of the Citadel was massively underplayed, even for a run down poverty stricken post reaper area.

Yup, I said so in a diff thread but got called down by the "The game is perfect" crowd.

Really disappointed in citidel.

I wanted to visit the Asari consort, not get a email, revisit old spots, walk the persidium (gawd I love that area), check in with that shadow broker guy.

Instead I got to buy a hamster and fish, do the fish quest, and yell at a rude Csec and Volus guy.

Really underwelming from my grand expections.

I actually liked the changes alot, the citidal was much more inline with how i had imagned it when i read the first book. It shows of how the citidal is not all the presidium areas but also the tightly packed wards, with holographic adds all over and small vendors and alot more people pr square meter. If you want to see the big open areas then play the first game again.

I wasn't disappointed by the size of the place, nor the different location and (slight) change in design. It was the lack of things to do. Meet Anderson, do a couple fetch quests, browse a few shops and buy fish...

Disappointed in the general lack of openness over-all, not just the Citadel. Would've liked to see cities being way bigger with alot of different story-lines and stuff happening, instead of always being shipped off to a seperate area to clear a "stage".

Like the poster above i actualy prefered it.... I think some of you need to replay the first mass effect, which i recently did to have new shepards for mass effect 2. The game size are not even comparable. The new citadel as actualy more area if you dont even count the side quests stuff you go threw that lead you to other areas. Its not even comparable mass effect 2 did everything much, much bigger in scales. Noveria/feros/etc they were all 15 minute missions if you rush threw, nothing to explore at all. The worlds of mass effect 2 are much much bigger and theres much more exotic location all across the map to visit, may it be for the main mission, the shipmates help mission or the side mission.

The difference is that mass effect 1 had a big empty room called the presedium.... it was big and empty, these world are big and full. Do all the side quests and tell me these worlds look as empty as the mass effect 1 one.

I don't like the ME team at Bioware decided to sacrifice size for detail. It's still a good game, and itt's the best damn RPG I've played in a long ass time, but it has room for improvement. If Bioware wants ME3 to be better than ME2, then they'll do what they did with ME2 in regards to ME1. Listen to the player base, take in all opinions, and work to try and appease everyone.

ME2 did indeed remedy alot of flaws with ME1, and it has significantly less flaws for me personally. Now for ME3, it just needs a bit more things remedied. I have great expectations for ME3.

I agree. The citadel in the current Mass Effect disappointed me greatly.

It disappointed me at first, then I really though about it and realized that, with the exception of recruiting squad mates, nothing really happened at the Citadel. There were a few quests, and a storyline mission, after that it was just the place you went to because it had 3 shops rather than 1.

I would have liked to visit more, but all and all I didn't fell disappointed.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed, too. It felt so small in comparison to the first game. I haven't gotten that far in the game, though, so we'll see how it goes.

I'm confused on people mentioning the size being a disappointed. The citadel was MUCH larger. I think you're confusing background scenery with the actual limited space you were in, or is the scenery what you're referring to? In the first game, people were upset about not being able to explore the arms of the citadel, now it's the oppsote..I guess having both isn't asking for too much, though.

That being said I do agree on the lack of things to do, I was expecting a load of side-quests to add to my journal but I was presented with petty go-find this-real-quick errands from people I could careless about. Omega was better.

Illium makes up for it. It's like the Citadel on steroids.

And in me 1 the Citadel was really the only populated place to go in the game. There's so many more populated locations in me 2, I think it makes up for it.

Pretty much agree with that wrex, theres so many more populated locations in m2 the citadel shouldnt matter. As Bioware said themself in the second act the story takes you elsewhere, the cidatel is not the main hub in this one. Your ship is pretty much the main hubs of all your activity which i realy like the feel of. The cidatel is only of minor importance in mass effect 2 story and thats a good thing because we passed alot of time on it in me1.

For the others that didnt finish the game yet, keep playing youll see theres so many fun location beside the citadel in this game that it makes you not care that much that you are stuck only on a small part again.

Remember guys:

ME1 - Citadel and outlying (but not Terminus) human settlements/colonies. Also some ruins.

ME2 - Some Citadel, a big focus on the lawless Terminus Systems (Omega), and (finally) the introduction of homeworlds/lands like Tuchanka, Illium, Quarian Flotilla. Also going into completely unknown space.

I expect ME3 to continue this trend and concern itself with places like the Salarian and Turian homeworlds (unless they appear as DLC in ME2, as I heard a remark about the Turian world by a dev some time).

I was a little dissapointed that we didn't get to do much there, (though it's understandable) but the other populated areas really are well done.

I do adore Omega as well. I was absolutely floored when I first saw the inside of Afterlife.
