No, he wasn't a Darkspawn. People can't become Darkspawn. The Taint either kills someone or turns them into a Ghoul, which seemed to be happening with Felix but due to Avernis' efforts he was not himself but not a Ghoul yet.

What happened to him? I know he had the Blight sickness... So was he a darkspawn or what? I felt pity on him for sure, hoping when his fate hit him he didn't necessarily feel it. Didn't even fight Leliana back.
He was turning into a ghoul, but that progress was slowed (at least on the surface) by things like blood transfusions and skin/flesh grafts from Leliana.

Sadly, he dies as a result of the Blight sickness. Dorian recieves a letter where his fate is enclosed and reveals it to the Inquisitor from what I remember. I think he was taken good care of in Tevinter.
If he'd been one of the cases where an infected were at a risk of turning, I think he'd have either committed suicide or asked for assisted suicide and with his father no longer there to overturn his decision, it would likely have happened.

I think he was just an empty shell of a human by the time Leliana killed him in the future. I liked him and wished he could have lived. I assume that in the current time, he died more "normally" because his dad wasn't doing things to keep him alive.

Didn't even fight Leliana back.
He wasn't really aware at that point and probably didn't even have the understanding that a person was about to murder him.
