well can't miss what you never had
That's too bad. So Fenris was a main character?
Funny that I decided to keep him alive for my final gamestate. I usually kill him.. but I figured he'd be interesting in DA4 if he shows up.

He was involved to some extent, just don't know how heavily.
Because David Gaider’s book is no longer happening (I asked him about this last year way before he announced his leave and he said it just never clicked so he bunked the project)...
I don't want to clutter my post above with any sort of speculation, so I'll post it here.
The various mentions were incredibly vague, particularly as concerns Fenris. We don't know when it would have taken place -- pre- or post-DA2 or DAI, whether it would have featured Tevinter, or just how much involvement he would have had. Saying that it "never clicked" could mean any number of things. If he was already considering his leave, perhaps he just ran out of mojo for the project. Perhaps the whole concept for the novel, and the way it fit in with current (Dragon Age) events, just never felt "right."
BUT just because DG left doesn't mean that the novel's base premise, or how it fits into the world, hasn't survived in some form or other. Or perhaps another writer would be unwilling to take on Tevinter and Fenris and fill David Daider's shoes for such a project. Perhaps no other writer would be as emotionally invested in such a project in addition to their other DA work. David himself posted about how draining novel writing was, in addition to his day job, partly because he had to write it in his free time. It seemed to me that, when writing a novel, his entire life was consumed by Dragon Age, which doesn't seem fun.
Who knows, really?
Also, BioFan, where is that footage from in the video?
To the best of my knowledge, here is the full roundup of all of this information.
The only thing DG ever said about writing Fenris was,
@davidgaider
Writing Fenris again. Like slipping on an old pair of comfortable yet bitchy shoes.
And,
@davidgaider
@novicealtair Not really. It's for a book.
His tweets since leaving BW were,
@davidgaider
@GrimSister21 I'm not writing a DA book, sorry. I've no idea if someone else is.
@davidgaider
@CroweComics There is no Fenris book, sorry.
@davidgaider
@GladsBad It was scrapped before I left.
He also confirmed to Lady Insanity that the project is dead.
Just to add a little bit to this. Prior to his leaving (as well as shutting down his tumblr account) he wrote a short story including Fenris and Shale. I wouldn't be surprised if that was him trying to get into the groove a little bit. Mind you it probably had very little to do with the actual novel at the point that he canceled it.
I'd like to see a living Fenris make amends and be with the Fog Warriors.
In addition to killing magisters, of course. That's a given.
Damn, I'd have enjoyed seeing Fenris again, just like I'd have like to have read that hypothetical Starkhaven tale involving Bethany and Sebastian that Gaider mentioned he'd also considered penning.
Would be cool if Bioware let the writers have some fun doing some explicitly non-canon material, akin to DC's "Elseworld" or Marvel's "What If?", that'd allow us to have tales with characters interacting that probably wouldn't (or couldn't) happen in normal canon.
I'd love to imagine what might have happened if Cailan or Duncan had survived Ostagar, if Kristoff had alive when Justice possessed him in Awakening or what might have happened if Solas had awoke ten years earlier during the Blight?
Or if Velanna had been the new host for Justice in DA2 (as the writers had toyed with), Bethany and Carver both survived the prologue, or Hawke had been the one to die at the Ogre's hands and one of the twins had been the one to eventually become Champion? (Oddly enough, my money is on Bethany, rather than Carver)
Sure there's always fanfic... but no-one can deny it'd not be intriguing to see what the Bioware writers might come up with if they decided to mess around in the non-canon sandbox for a bit, the amount of AU fanfic out there shows people enjoy reading those kinds of stories.

I hadn't heard of the Fenris-Shale short story. Does anyone have a link to that?
I have to say, it's a little frustrating to hear that he casually announced writing a book, then barely even mentioned that he had stopped. He's not beholden to us, of course, but why would he publicize writing Fenris again when he knows that is going to get people's attention, and then just quietly respond on Twitter that he's not writing a book. If you're going to announce you're writing a book, at least announce that you've canceled the book, don't act like it's just something people should already know.

Which footage? The Tevinter ruins? I captured that via flycam.

Whenever Gaider annoys you, just imagine he's Shale.
Then it all makes sense.

I'd take the Howe/Beth one easily. Sebastian can suck an egg.
Hell, my Hawke should have hooked up with Howe, after she killed Anders. But this is probably off topic now.
I would much rather just have some resolution for Nathaniel and the other DAA Wardens in a future game (or novel or comic) than a "what if" comic with him and Bethany.
Unless the premise of the comic was "What if Bethany wasn't a colossal bore and waste of writing?"

My Hawke couldn't kill Anders
but she sure would have gone for Nat. ![]()

I want to see more about the Wardens but I don't want them destroyed and torn apart. I like the Wardens and want to see good things happen to them (as good as can happen to people who live and die to kill darkspawn).
I never could get into Bethany because she was boring to me. ![]()

Yeah it's possible that if we do get further content for the Wardens it'll be a case of Careful What You Wish For. Like what the Exalted March DLC sounds like.
But I don't know...I think I would rather have some sort of resolution for the DAA Wardens than how it currently stands. Right now, I either headcanon that they all accompanied the HOF on the cure for the Calling quest, or else they were nameless deaths that happened offscreen in DAI. Because Leliana mentions that both the Fereldan and Orlesian Wardens have all gone missing, indicating that they were all part of Clarel's plans.
Or I headcanon that at least Nathaniel is in Weisshaupt, since his cameo in DA2 suggested that he's becoming a leader in the Wardens and might be involved in an awakened darkspawn plot.

There's "rumors" of a new blight in the Anderfels. The Anderfels are next door to Tevinter. He could appear

I hope we can spare at least one of the remaining Old Gods, I kind of suspect that we could have seen Razikale already.
We still don't yet know what they truly are... yet.
