In sleeping dogs parkour is a big feature with you being able to run on, climb over and leap off of nearly everything including people sometimes. It's a fantastic way to move around as well as a very good tool to have in the bag in combat situations, no one expects you to leap over 20 conveniently placed barricades that you can hide behind avoiding bullets and maiming enemies along the way.

So instead of good ol I hide behind cover while you do the same and we'll shoot the crap out of each other until one of us dies, why not add in a parkour mechanic? I believe it'd give us even more options when traversing landscapes as well more options on how we'll approach battle situations. Instead of choosing between routes a, b, c, we could choose d and bypass a huge firefight scenario come full circle and surprise everyone from behind.

Oh no, hostage situation side mission? Wat u say? Little kimmie chimichanga is being kidnapped by a cult of biotics? Well I could go full commando and commit mass murder to save her or I could just ninja my way into their compound like a drell I once knew and save her.

What do you guys think?

I mean, as long as gravity is in our favor. some planets have lower gravity than earth's or even higher.

I'd rather not have Mass Effect turn into Uncharted, no matter how much I love the Uncharted playstyle of moving from cover to cover avoiding bullets. I like the way Mass Effect is as it is. Sure, I get we're going to have the jetpack, but that's as far as i'll go, I don't need to jump on sky cars to another sky car or anything.

I could see how that might work. When Bioware showed and mentioned that we'd have jetpacks/jump jets the first game I thought of was Titanfall, and that had the jump jets used to help with parkour maneuvers and was really fun.

While it doesn't sound like a bad idea, wouldn't it make ME sort of...less ME?

We already have jetpacks. Why would BioWare go to all the effort of creating parkour animations when a simpler, more effective, and more realistic mechanic exists?

Uncharted 4 goes MGS V, with a more open world and different approaches the player can choose between. There's even vehicles and a dialogue wheel. More and more games are starting to look like each other. Soon Mass Effect will have Eagle Vision/Detective Mode/Witcher Sense/Whatever They Call It In Quantum Break.

In general, I won't be surprised if the fighting mechanics are a bit different than in ME2 and ME3. I was playing The Division a bit and got bored with hiding behind obstacles, emptying my guns at things. Could be more dynamic.

There's a thought: I'd much rather Mass Effect nicked Witcher senses/detective vision than Dragon Age's scanning ping thing, if we're gonna have some sort of 'detection' mechanic  in there.

As for parkour, sign me up--I love a good parkour game. Extra flashy mass-altering moves for the biotics, if you please.

I don't mind it. But It should be more like watchdogs and less like assassins Creed. BtW we have jet boosters so we don't need to climb as much.

Space creed: Assassins edge

Don't give any more ideas, that might be there next game.

I don't mind the idea as a limited way to explore terrain when on foot in certain situations, but giving us a jetpack seems like it would nullify most of that. As for combat, I dunno it seems like it would be too un-Mass Effect for me.

Every game was "less ME" than the last. Keep the train rolling! Space Parkour... Woooooo!

Just not in 1st person POV. That keeps me away from Mirror's Edge. Enough with the 1st person POV thing already, random devs!

No thank you, not because it wouldn't be awesome, but because it just seems a bit too over the top. I would understand if a character like Thane could do Parkour but since it seems we are the military type, I do not think that would be believable enough. I was already skeptical on the jetpack, but that makes sense and already opens up so many gameplay possibilities. Parkour would just be pushing it. Also it would be too similar to other games and quite frankly lose it's identity as a Mass Effect game

What's with all this talk about things being believable in a place where space magic, special humans saving the galaxy and intergalactic coitus exists? I never understand this arguement. Also, ME is already not THAT different from a lot of other games. What really defines a "Mass Effect game" anyways?

ME has not really been an acrobatic, stealth oriented game so far. parkour would just feel terribly off.

No what little we had in DaI were horrible and annoying I be happy if they took the jumping mechanics out if all bioware games it is unneeded and a waste of time and would only be used to really hide collectibles and other unneeded fluff

I always wanted an origin story where my young Earthborn Shep was a Red Sand smuggler/Parkour expert.

But whatever. I'll take Parkour in Space.
