Howdy Fellow Castle Dwellers-

I blew the whole, grab three agents in Hinterlands, thing. Oops! I can still recruit two in Western Plains and will, Im level 15- but regardless, there are lots of cool perks, other than deft hands. Is the extra loot and coin truly worth it? Please, no spoilers, Im on my first play through. Just, will deft hands pay off in a notable way, in your view?

Gracias-

The Texas Inquisitor (-wink)

Storywise it's important as mentioned above... but most of the loot is ceremonial at best and as always can be outdone by superior player crafting.

But even if you're crafting everything, good loot is still useful to raise cash for the better schematics. (OP's on a first run, so no Golden Nug.)

yeah it can but the power is still worth having I think. Personally I love playing a rogue where no lock can resist my charm kind of character

I confess that although a mage, passing all these locked doors is DRIVING ME A BIT MAD! lol

Its useful. Get as early as possible. Open the door in Redcliffe to get a fade-touched-obsidian. That will give you 3 guard on hit. Very useful. I got the perk before getting to Skyhold, got the fade-touched item and put it on some crafted armor after getting to Skyhold.

There are a few other items, like the Grey Warden thing mentioned above, and a couple of mosaic pieces needed to complete the sets. There is a door that can be opened in Crestwood after dealing with the undead that has an amulet of power for the Inquisitor. The amulet gives you 1 point to put towards a talent.

For your first run. Yes I would suggest getting the perk. If you find it isn't worth it, don't get it in a future playthrough.

^This.

Even if you don't want the guard on hit Masterwork, you absolutely should unlock the Deft Hands doors in the Still Ruins in the Western Approach. This gives you early access to Tier 3 mats (Everite and Infused Vyrantium Samite), 3x Critical Crafting mats (though low chance, only 40%), and 1 Spirit Rune. Plus some collectibles and a useless Sigil. I sell the Critical Crafting mats and Sigil for decent gold.

I love the Still Ruins....it's so eerie and spooky....but I figure my Inky wants to get out of there asap and never go back. Not to mention, I usually forget about farming stuff and hit the "loot all" button before I even see what's there.

One google search solves the cash flow issue ;)   However, if the OP wants his/her first playthrough to be vanilla than by all means.

Good stuff! Im currently spending a lot of time at this party quest and yet again, DAI blows my mind, how the devs truly create that atmosphere. The timed sneaking off, brilliant. And Im not even going to see help on this quest (as in, Google), because its too epic- will just try to figure it on me own. Fun game. And thanks for all the feedback!

Best way to go for this game imo. I googled a few things on my first run and I wish I hadn't now since I enjoyed the game so much. You just don't get that feeling back when you know what's happening/what you're doing when you start your second play through! lol

I really like the Curse of Morrac helmet that you get in the locked tower in Emprise Du Lion, but then all my chars are female DW rogues.

Pre-patches there was an Amulet of Power for the Inquisitor behind a locked door in Crestwood village, but it was removed in a patch. I still have it via a mod, though.

Right. I can't bring myself to play that way, but it's an option.

You sure? I don't have any mods, and it was still there last time I checked. The wiki doesn't list it as one of the removed amulets either.

I use Deft Hands to farm Fade-Touched Obsidian as early as possible.

the best way to play I think I ponly use the strategy guides when I'm stuck as well or for solving awkward puzzles like the Astaruim and Temple of Mythal Puzzles.

The loot is not worth it. But the locked icons are annoying. If you get rid of them, it feels better.

Hm, I thought that was one of the ones that were removed, but seems you're right when checking Wiki and the list of restored Amulets for the mod. Well, that makes that particular locked door alone worth the perk IMO.

LOL- so just from this thread, I've added several new "Must see and do" items to an already long list. Its like Disneyland but you get to kill stuff.

Ok, so I got Deft fracking hands. ;-) I went to Redcliffe, picking up the fade touch Obsiddian, so thanks for that tip. Cass and Blackwell stay alive fine now, got a good mix of gear on them. My mage (my main) is fine 90% of the time, but Varic dies more often your favorite hero dies in GOT! So I slapped the guard onto a piece with him, we shall see. The AI on Varric is not good, he gets too close and I have him on follow me, because my barrier is maxed out. YOU BONEHEAD, VARRIC!
