I use to keep up with current events because of CurrentTV but that channel shut down a long time ago. Al-Jazeera exists but I don't know how to feel about it. As harsh as it sounds, I think we need to focus on our conflicts before helping other countries. I mean, our public education is crap. >_> And other things... I just hate how some people think US is the only bad country in the world.

 

US isn't the only bad country, not by any stretch of imagination. It's just the most prominently bad country. If you stick a pink elephant(US in this example) in a room, everyone will talk about the pink elephant, totally failing to see the rotting garbage all around in.

 

Just a small example that anyone who isn't too lazy to run a simple search can verify:

That whole Rupert Murdoch Scandel in the UK a few years back? He started in Australia, completely owned and dominated all fields of media, and used it to manipulate the Government for about 20 years before moving to the UK to do the same there.

Australia is excessively corrupt, I laugh when I hear stories about how corrupt America is. It's not just nature that is dangerous in Australia.

Actually, I have been known to moon-light as Lara Croft. and I do use more female characters in MP than their male counterparts. The 1st shepard I ever created is a woman....and I still love her 2death... her and liara really had something special going....and Actually, a majority of the time..in a game..if I am given the chance to create a character and allowed to choose their gender...inherently, it will be female. I did read a psychology study a few years back saying that if a man creates women avatars for use in video games......that it comes down to  who he really just wants to spend time with.

Back when I use to play Call of Booty, a couple of guys told me I sound like a "14 year old fgt". >_> Then they all condemned me for being a female gamer yet I was top in the lobby. I'm just a very masculine girl ok.

Well, there is a thing called "transgender" now but I have yet to meet an MTF ( male to female ) gamer. Like, I wouldn't trip if that person revealed themselves to me and want to be respect as their preferred gender + name. But when someone is faking it, just no.

I did an experiment a few years ago where I changed my xbox avatar and profile pic to a female. I even changed my name from Pat to Patricia. I played a lot MP for a few days to see if people would treat me different thinking I was a girl. I was hoping to get a flooded inbox from guys either creeping or bashing (because you know, girl gamers ew) Sadly nothing happened and I got nothing. So I switched back. Oddly enough though afterwards my sister sent me a message on xbox "were you just a girl a day ago?"

I just feel like I should be private sometimes. Yes, we have been spending time on X Box live too.  We have gotten to know each other very well now, and love whenever we can hang out together.  We are even going to start banging!  Do you have any frequent flyer miles I could have?  I don't need many.  I bet you this is a one way trip.   We are just too good when partied up.

Most nations in the world are excessively corrupt, and the most corrupt are generally socialist (or socialist in name only to give government mandarins an excuse to shake people down) governments that pick various corporations for special favors, bleed taxpayers dry, and keep people poor. Also, the more corrupt a nation is, the dirtier (litter/illegal waste disposal) it tends to be, such as all of South and Southeast Asia except Singapore. To me, the smell of corruption is the loathsome smell of an illegal trash fire. I can't speak for Australia, but while the US has a heavily entrenched and grotesquely self-serving political establishment in both major parties, and certain cities are notoriously corrupt, corruption as a whole is generally frowned upon and the nation has a very high degree of civic pride - it's mostly blessedly clean and has clean air and clean water. And that counts for a whole lot.

To be fair, I only use the FQI in multiplayer, but not because she's female. I'd use the QMI if he had the same powers etc as her.

 

In RPGs or games if I can choose for my character to be a female or a male, I'll do one playthrough as a male and then have my character as a female from then on. The male voices in video games aren't exactly great. They're practically all monotone and boring, whereas female voice actors tend to put more emotion in. That's part of the reason. Another part is the fact that I like being a total dick to NPCs in video games, and if I'm playing as a male at the time while being incredibly mean, I feel like the biggest ******* who ever lived. But if I'm playing as a female? Nope. I think it's hilarious. No feeling like an *******. All I think is, "having a bitchy character is great :D"

With Mass Effect, for example, I did a male playthrough of each game once where I was paragon... then went full renegade on my consecutive and many femshep playthroughs.

In Fallout 4, I did one playthrough as a male where I was nice to people (it was so damn hard).

Then I did a playthrough as a sarcastic female (t'was funny).

Then I went psycho and made a character who looks like Harley Quinn and made her fully evil and a cannibal and like a mass murderer.

There is no limit to how much of a ******/psycho/cannibal/badass my female chars can be in video games, but like as soon as my male character is even slightly mean I feel like a tool. Kind of strange how my mind works, but oh well.

 It's definitely not as bad as some of those third world countries. But I agree though, corruption is a global phenomenon and a major hindrance for economic and societal growth.

I actually play a lot as a female character too, except those times where I feel like a male protag would suit the role better. I mean, I've played most of my mass effect Sp as femshep and my main characters in Dark souls are always female with fair hair. And while I initially was apprehensive of the new assassins creed's decision to include male and female twins, I really preferred playing as Evie overall even though I liked Jacob as a character. 

 

But I've always played as a macho man in skyrim because I've always felt like the dragonborn was supposed to be a hardy Nord with his use of shouts and the whole legacy behind the dragonborn in game. And no surprise, my favorite classes in ME3 are Krogan, followed by turians and then asari.  

 

I do have to admit though that aesthetically, it's more pleasing to play as a female protagonist over a male but that's just the way I find it personally.
