... Maybe, i'm not sure, i have the skill to do it but probably i dont have the patience to spend an evening to do a rift ...

I treat it like a puzzle you need to solve. There is always some way. Battling that rift for 2 hours was nothing. I've met a freeman captain with tower shield in emerald graves. He is perceptive, hides behind some boxes, has 30 K hit points and same amount of guard which he periodically re-casts a-la pride demon and also has druffalo charge. His perceptive has a very large radius and when I try to flank him in stealth from throwing distance, he just turns around with his tower shield to block everything. Not sure how to deal with the menace, probably need to run back and forth to camp to burn him with antivian fire or bees. He might be immune to that though. He is weak to lightning, so might eventually end up using the bow but I don't have any archer abilities yet. Oh, almost forgot, he one hit kills me from the front with his sword, so damage should be at least around 1200 as I have 700 hp and about 400 armor.

That boss seriously sucks. It's seriously the worst aspect of that DLC. I gave up trying to keep my group from getting wiped and just took it out with my K-E. I really should've rolled an assassin rogue on my first go, because anyone other than that takes for-friggin ever to take it out.

I get the point; in fact it took me a lot of time to win this fight and i was playing hard with no trials. I used BW, Sera, Solas and my Templar 2H that against a non demon non stunnable is little more than useless and i ressed Solas and Sera dunno how many times in short BW soloed the monster using War Cry, Shield Bash and Combat roll while my main spent his time ressing Sera and Solas

It's also true that was my first fight against it, i spent some ten minutes b4 realizing that he had a vulnerable core

You used a KE; when i did my NM playthrough the KE were by far the best char, while the necro were by far the crappiest and i'm not speaking of mages i'm speaking of all classes. Dunno now after many patches even if i see that some bugs, like the freeze in tactic jump to unfreeze, are still there.

Never tried NM with all trials, just standard NM where he requires just a little babysitting and Hard where he can probably solo the dragon of the Emprise

Playing solo should be interesting but i can foresee a lot of kiting, hiding and an overabuse of grenades, something i'm not sure i will like. Maybe, i'm not sure, i have the skill to do it but probably i dont have the patience to spend an evening to do a rift

Now that i think i did Descent, it's the Deep Roads and you probaly mean the blue thing that come out of the heart.

Yes i cannot but agree it was a tough fight in hard but there is not a lot of space around to keep ranged away, there are those stomps coming from the sky that can hit almost everywhere while close there are the tentacles that hit rather hard

yeah it's the final boss in descent I was referring too.  The guardian or something I think it's called. It is an exception rather than the rule I agre and as you say there's not a lot of room around it which is whty I generally only go in with just the one warrior and keep the others back as it is pretty deadly up close. Even managhed to take down my warrior in my last fight thankfully I had Kitty's Collar on as it helped me hang on in there but then I also had Viv with her Resurgance spell in the event I needed it as well. There is a wall just where you come in so I tend to have my ranged characters there so they don't get knocked off the platform  as they can still hit the target from there. But as I said in tha tfight it's one of those fights that gewtting too up close and personal with it will result in your squad dying. So I d ofind you do have to adopt this tactic to get through it.

Yeah I agree that's why I only send in one warrior after it and make sure it's one of my tanks either Cassandra or Blackwall as they can hold out a little while. In my very first playthrough it decimated my warriors within seconds because I didn't really know how to take this one on fortunately myself and Varric stayed back because I was a mage in that run.I did notice it was blitzing through both Bull and Cass at that time which was why I had my character and Varric stayed back because I knew we at least had that option even if Bull and Cass didn't I just had Varric keep shooting it with Bianca while I focused on throwing my fireballs at it by his side and every now and then used the barrier power to keep myself and Varric fighting and protect us from it's attacks. It worked thankfully in the end but it was a long fight. It's better with just 1 warrior as it dosen't seem to fight quite as hard against just the 1.

Hm, I haven't had much problems with that boss. Last time, it went down almost immediately with a Mighty Offense potion plus Thousand Cuts (Nightmare, Walk Softly, Even Ground). It went rather quickly with my Assassin the time before that as well.

Just played that last night with my assassin archer. First time I've beaten it without anybody needing a health pot.

Yeah, if you've got something that throws huge damage it's easy enough. There's a weird thing in RPGs, particularly Bio RPGs, where offense trumps everything at the very highest levels.

Walking Fortress or any kind of physical defense against stagger/knockdown helps with the Whomping Willow attacks too. 2H Champion stationed at a target node with Walking Fortress and Whirlwind and a lot of crit and MO did most of the damage.
