With all the talk about how big the exploration is going to be, how cool the new pew pew guns are, I feel ME is forgetting about the far out science that made it seem like such a unique thing. In a lot of sci-fi stories that I can recall very little of them explain their own techno babble whether it be founded in real science or not, they just assume we understand or not make it a focal point for the story, yet ME didn't do that whether it was because they had brilliant writers who took some actual scientific theories and embellished on them or stars just aligned that way, the ME series to me made me think that their science was possible in their universe. Does anyone remember the line EDI gives about possibly going to a universe in which the fundamental laws of reality worked differently? I can't find it, but it sets up the idea that there universe isn't exactly like ours and than their science works different than ours but that it's still a science and they clearly understand it and explain it to us the players.

Basically I hope Andromeda isn't focusing on political/social messages, cool lasers, and big empty spaces to explore but rather one of the core reasons why ME was so appealing to some in the first place the neat science that made it's universe stand out in the first place.

In the meantime, I choose mushrooms for dinner. There's still a good time until (or not) the galaxies collide - why bother about it today.

Yes, a slightly stronger emphasis on science would be great.

With every new game it seemed that ME got further and further away from science into the realm of fiction,

I wouldn't mind a return to a style where the answer to everything isn't just The Rule of Cool.

When I say miss it's mark it's not me forecasting that the game wont sell, obviously if BioWare put its name on a bag of poop, someone somewhere would buy it and swear it's the best bag of poop they ever bought. I mean it feels like the science if even fictional behind it isn't progressing, but rather being rehashed again, nothing new, or at worst since they haven't said anything about it being ignored all together.

Well, one would hope that they would have some kind of reasonable science to explain inter-galactic travel and how it is possible. While I do like big places to explore and lasers, I do agree that there should be more science explaining in the game as to how certain things are being done/possible.

I don't know what games Bioware will release in 2030 or even if they will still exist but here is a 35 point thesis on why they will be bad...

I mean, I get what you're saying and where your fear is coming from.

Just because they say that exploration is a strong focus, doesn't mean that they will lack in the areas that ultimately make it a Mass Effect game.

I just think it's better to not worry about it until we know more at EA play. :)

10k is awesome on that show.

Anyway OT, yes this is part of the reason I could never get into Star Wars. We never learn much about the races or their history throughout the films. Well there's that and the fact Stars Wars is basically fantasy. ME covered a lot more ground than just destiny and the fight between good and evil.

I liked driving around asteroids. I think it's an unpopular opinion to praise anything related to the Mako and yeah the worlds are pretty bland in ME, but the concept I think is neat. Put the exploration back in space exploration.

It's a better part of what makes Mass Effect cool than the fake element space magic, if you ask me.

Yeah, I liked star wars but they seemed to focus more on stuffing as many bizarre aliens into the scene as they could without explaining how or why all these individuals came to exist in that one place separate from any others of their kind.

FEAR

False

Evidence

Appears

Real

(or little to no evidence until we see more of the game. All we have now is a quirky teaser trailer...)

Don't forget that good writing sometimes inspires real life people to do things like this least we forget

now while the inventor doesn't cite ME as the idea behind his invention, you gotta admitted 3 or 4 years ago when we first heard about it, it blew our minds in a good way.

No you don't.

Nobody like you either.

Me too. Why should such crap invade and pollute a game?  If it happens, I'll just continue to enjoy the Trilogy for many, many years. I don't want to see ANY political/social messages. I don't play games to be messaged.

Translation If people subjectively like something i don't it because they aren't as sophisticated as myself.

GO.

FRAK.

YOURSELF.

This BS notion that people will as a whole blindly accept anything Bioware does has been proven false. There are divergent views on the ME3 endings even if the majority hate them and Divergent views about DA:I even if the majority like it. These two examples show that people don't blindly accept everything Bioware does.

Gamers some of the most self righteous and self entitled consumers in the world.
