Hi all,
I have been watching all Mass Effect Andromeda media releases, the upcoming game would be a new one in its own right far from the trilogy of Reapers. But since it would be from the same universe of the trilogy hence it should have a bridge to link it up with the trilogy.
The main theme of the Andromeda seem to be in expansion of Milky Way species to the Andromeda galaxy, an inter galactic saga.
So this warrants a valid reason for this expansion.
Mass Effect 3 ended in a variety of choices made by the gamers, its not a canonical universe, so the Andromeda has to start from where the gamers ended their ME3 universe - the choices : Destruction and Shep alive, Control and no Shep, Synthesis and no Shep and not firing crucible at all.
The latest vid of Andromeda highlights, humanity's walk into outer space , a Citadel shaped huge inter galatic vessel heading for Andromeda and Cdr Shep signing off.
With this kind of theme, there will be reasonable gap between the Universe where the Crucible wasnt fired at all and Andromeda exploration by humanity- coz if the cycle completed itself, a different species other than humanity comes across living in the next cycle.
Where the crucible was fired there would be complications in all those endings to warrant a galactic expansion,
Destruction ending - No synthetics to check Organic expansion of various species to over populate the Milky Way resulting in inter species endless wars for new territories and resulting in search for newer territory.
Control ending - Reapers are still the force at large and puppets of a power crazy dead human commander, which destroys all other species and invades Andromeda.
Synthetic ending - Both unrestricted population growth and Reaper power at large, invade new galaxy.
So, Andromeda has to do a lot of story telling if it suddenly appears at stores seeking the market of the trilogy players.
It can be averted in three ways :
1.A completely new non trilogy universe - which would be rather unattractive to the existing ME fans - its like a memory wipe on the galaxy, totally disconnected - new players would be attracted to a canonical set up for that game.
2.A contemporary mission - a possible back up plan to avert any damage to the entire galactic species avoiding Shepard's war on Reapers - so a multi species mission was set up during the war and a select group of individuals was sent to the Andromeda to allow life to flourish in case Reapers win.
So two separate galactic events can exist side by side - though logical viability ans scientific explanation is a huge gap.
Scientifically, such mission would require eons and generations to complete even in ME Universe.Mass Relays were used in Milky Way FTL transport to approach any star system, then the rest was carried out using warp drive for short distances in a local star cluster.
But to bridge an inter galactic distance, it would have required a non Mass Relay based FTL to support long distance warp jumps- which would rather require the Reaper propulsion system - since the Reapers got in from outside the galaxy without any Mass Relay.
So to achieve such a propulsion system, what is logically required is either multiple dead Reaper units or co-operation of the same to share the knowledge - which again would require sometime after the Trilogy.
3.Post Trilogy , in the Aftermath - This is the most attractive way of approaching Andromeda story. Here we will get to see how the Milky Way has prospered post the Reaper war and developed new non Mass Relay based propulsion system- or better has learnt how to build newer mass relays.
Now such an ambitious mission would require a lot of working together of all species post war and a solid reason.
Depending on the player choices of ME3 , a number of parameters can be set - like Krogan expansion post war(if genophage was cured- if not then Salarian),Council races weakening,Rachni resurgence(if the queen was saved - if not then one less species to deal with),Vorcha uprising(in absence of the Batarians, these guys become the most hated species of the galaxy)and Human dominance over all(gifting the outcome of Reaper war to Humanity-a species to challenge any boundaries)- a new set of galactic politics can be set up in the Milky way itself.......which can be done much with talking and less action on the fields.
So if a DLC called Aftermath be developed and launched on the same level of tech specs as the ME3 with an Asari and a Krogan character - the approach to the Andromeda post war can be smoother and more attractive.
Also this DLC can help determine what happened to Shepard after war ,if he becomes a Councilor post destruction survival,or controls the Council using Reapers or lives and influence as an entity every living thing using his genetic memory, what happens to the people he romance, what happens to different species post war.
Hence putting forward a request to consider this
and also in expectance of a healthy discussion.

Based on my experience with the game, the Reapers were a Milky Way Galaxy phenomena. If they were wiped out, it happened in our galaxy. Same with synthesis and control. It all took place in our galaxy. Now, if the explorers left from the Andromeda Galaxy before the events of ME 1-3, they aren't impacted by the decisions. It's only if they return that we'd need to know the State of the Galaxy.

I agree with Mach (well thought out btw) there has to be some continuity with the trilogy otherwise the universe even Andromeda will not have the feel of the original games and most players will feel lost, or at least disappointed in the game. To have the feeling of continuation without confusion the history will have to be fleshed out and the outcomes will need to be explained.

i would love more MP character and more armors for Shepard and Shepard having Mp Abilities. Also able to have Mp Fitness trees. As much as I love the concept of Kai Leng and his look, I want to out Kai Leng ....Kai Leng.

They've already stated this game takes place before ME3 even happened.
By the time that they arrive in Andromeda centuries have passed.
If you want an aftermath of the galaxy DLC, the Extended Cut is just that. It describes what happens to the galaxy around 500 years after the Reaper war. Anything after that is left up to the player to decide.
It doesn't tie into Andromeda, because the Extended Cut was essentially the end of the trilogy.

It's about looking forward, not back.
