I froze once on Glacier, of all places, against Geth today.

Honestly, Reapers is the "safest" enemy. Geth spawn drones and turrets which tax the system (Especially when you have two or three primes dropping them most waves), Cerberus had Atlases and Turrets that can tax the system (Especially in large numbers). The problem being that all these culprits, have Shields and Armour (in large numbers in the case of Atlases and Geth Primes), so the different layers have different defense multipliers (IE: Biotic explosions will decimate the armour, but do jack all to the shields), so in PUG matches (IE: People who don't know any better and take forever to kill things), there is also memleak issues versus Cerberus and Geth (Especially on the non-vanilla maps).
Not saying the risk is huge, but it is there. The PS3 has really bad hardware. Still my favourite system, but everything except the CPU is overclocked junk.
^ Yes I noticed that about Geth faction and player pets. And also noticed Cerberus cause memleak too. I think Cerberus is still the worse of these two factions for memleak for some reason.
The Reapers are my favourite enemies across all Platforms. Geth BS is awful. Collectors I just can't do with my Internet (the moment I see a Captain, I die. I can run 20m away from Scion grenades and still get exploded). Same goes for Cerberus with Turrets and Phantoms. Reapers are a little more lag friendly, and they're the only faction I can actually solo effectively with.

XBox 360 is probably fine with them, even on a hazard map. Though I am assuming a few HGhost+Collector matches would be too much for even the XBox.
I think most people just assume that only hazard maps, and Collectors cause memleak. Totally ignoring the fact that it isn't some kind of space magic possessed by Collectors, that it's:
A) Size of Praetorians (Atlas fits this category, though not as badly),
B ) Number off additional enemies such as swarms and webs (Geth Drone, Geth Turret, and Cerberus Turret all fit this, though are USUALLY less populous, and despawn quicker/get killed because dangerous),
C) Additional effects such as possession, and map hazards (This produces both additional partical effects in the graphics, and extra AI calculations, I believe Geth Hunter Mode and a few other player abilities also fall into this category, though generally speaking, this category is pretty minor),
D) Shoddy coding. Sometimes, certain things are just badly coded, which causes artifacts in the memory cache.
No one thing of those is particularly taxing on its own, but they do add up. Which is why even stable maps vs Geth or Cerberus eventually wear the system down anyway, even avoiding collectors and hazards, PS3 restarts are still required.
As to what I quoted, this is because Cerberus fits both category A and B, whilst Geth only trigger Category B.
Yes, Hunter Mode might be suspect too. I do think the smoke affect on Annihilation Field contributes to less frames. But I'm not as sure since I always spec extra running speed on it, and with fast characters it's much easier to notice frame drops.

I would be seriously annoyed if that is the case with Annihilation Field. Thing isn't even noticable under most circumstances, and you find out that it has ran out by Throw->DeadFury. Sad thing is, I think you may be right, my Valkyrie takes Damage Taken instead of Speed, and I still notice frame loss with her, but I only really play her on Platinum, so too many factors to blame. Fury is so eratic anyway that it can be hard to tell with her.
Does Cerberus smoke have a physical entity? It's atleast a lot of particle effects, so that could contribute to Cerberus memleak. (I don't play enough CerBS, on-host phantoms are horribad, they make me use guns I don't like).
I think the only safe way to bypass memleak on the PS3 is to unistall everything, fresh reformat, and turn it off forever.
