Actually the protagonist is N7 which is good. It was confirmed at 2014 comic con so boom.

If they want to keep N7 for marketing purposes that's cool but they would do well to avoid any direct comparisons with Shepard which are unavoidable if you have your new protagonist playing dressing up looking like a Shepard cosplayer.

Because being N7 =/= Shepard 2.0

N7, human, command of a ship, the only person who can save the galaxy(this will happen).

Yeah, nothing like Shepard at all.

Sounds like every game protagonist ever created in some form

The only real connection is N7 which is a small connection at the very least to even matter

Which sucks. I thought we weren't supposed to be Shepard 2.0.

Actually that's what you think cause I've only seen you say that. N7 is the tier one special forces of the Alliance military. The best of the best. N7 does not make commander Shepard what he is. It doesn't define him. When you play as the N7 destroyer or slayer do you feel like you're Shep 2.0? Of course they would choose an N7 operative to lead the expedition. There are no other human spectres besides Shep or ash/kaiden and they're dead or could be dead. And nobody else would be skilled enough or qualified enough to lead. If I had to choose between a regular alliance soldier and an N7 operative. I'd choose an N7.

I'm sorry I didn't know Shepard was the only N7 operative.

Oh don't forget about the millions of things that differentiate the two. Setting, mission, friends, enemies, skills, voice actor, etc. You don't know anything about the game other than the setting and a few details that were leaked, not the story, dlc, alien races, the ark. You're just making assumptions. You don't know. Besides there'll be plenty of other armor to choose from. I don't know why this is such a big deal.

It's the way of the world in the same way that Nescafe Espresso is now the George Clooney coffee.

Considering our role is supposedly to explore, there are many people who are more qualified that I would pick over a N7 to lead the mission.

The fact I would be able to wear non-N7 armor wouldn't change the fact the protagonist is stuck as a N7 again.

I think we can all agree that we do want more options that are not locked behind a dlc paywall.

N7 just means the level of combat skill and training the character has gone through. It doesn't define Shepard and will most probably not define Ryder.

To me, it just signifies badassery, not Shepard. Hell, Spectres seem to define Shepard more than N7.

Also, I am sure there will be armour components that do not include the logo, or maybe we will get to choose what logo we put on, sort of like a badge or a pin type of thing, maybe granting different abilities or benefits.

So the N7 armor is at this point a part of the Shepard character. It just seems lame that our new character is going to be in the same old generic black N7 armor as Shepard. Just please give us options.

All I want is the option of not wearing armor at all... you know, just a jacket like Han Solo.

So besides a few mobile off-shoots we've had one protagonist for ME games. I am confident that for future installments that most if not all major protags will have an N7 background like a MAJORITY of star wars protags across books, movies, and games are jedi. are they all the same?

If you want an RPG with a semblance of freedom in the order of missions you do or where you go etc etc you're going to be the one in command of your ship/party/group. If you are not then the entire game is going to be as linear as as CoD because the player doesn't have a choice.

the character will most likely be human for the ease of animating the human animation skeleton. Let's have them get a decent female walking animation before we up the ante to other species.

only person who can save world/galaxy. This is too broad of a thing to call shep 2.0. With this it can be Master Cheif 2.0, vault dweller 2.0, Marcus Fenix 2.0. Goku 2.0, Mario 2.0, Luke 2.0, Inquisitor 2.0, Jedi Exile 2.0, DO I NEED TO GO ON?

In the oversimplified version, perhaps, but I'm curious as to whether or not you want to command a ship. Would you rather be at the whim of a superior aboard the ship, having no say in who gets to come aboard and where you go and who goes with you?

I imagine it will be much  like the Dragon Age series where they keep saying there wont be another Warden , but yet some how the Wardens armor manages to not only find it's way into the game  but it's usually the best armor in it .  It's just Bioware's way of not totally throwing away some of the best memories of the series.

Generic? Black? - didn't you fiddle around with your armor and paint it and use moduls that fit your playstyle etc.?

I agree that there should be some greater variety, but a generic hard-suit is ok for starters (I'd love to have something like a Fallout-Style Power Armor later in the game that I can walk around in (while either still wearing the hard-suit or while wearing normal clothing) - especially for assault or defense missions (I hope we'll get some of those!)) and it's not something specific to Sheppard (sorry, but Tony Stark's Iron-Man-Suit is similar (but it is powered of course, which Mass Effects Armors don't seen to be - and it can fly of course) and that's just one example!)

Edit! => Got something to add: Give the companions propper armor this time (and no heels in battle), no flimsy dress etc. (if it's a battlefield everybody on it (except civilians) should be wearing armor - unless people were caught by surprise of course!)

greetings LAX

ps: I've never stayed with the normal black for long (as soon as possible I always customized my armor - not doing so doesn't fit me or my character (I mean fighter-pilots also decorate/paint their plane and special forces operators customize their weapons, so why would Shep not do the same?))

Agreed.

But, would the N7 Moniker be relevant in Andromeda? A better way, is to have the new ARKON patches . Then everyone will see themselves as part of the Andromeda family.  Follow this up by differentiating the ARKON patches with the Pathfinder one(s).

I have a N7 mouse, mousepad, some T-shirts, jacket, pins, key chain and some other stuff. Really getting my moneys worth if the N7 thing stays alive.
