Would anyone like to see the final boss escape after a hard fought battle? A cliffhanger ending? This battle is just getting started!

Or, do you want the final boss to be dead at the end of the game?

I vote for a cliffhanger ending and the final boss escapes our grasp (and laughing at us: "See you later, N7 scum!").

It depends on what Bioware has in mind for their story but yeah it could be interesting to have a cliffhanger. But then again it depends on whether it's a multi part story like the original trilogy.

Cliffhanger: "It depends on whether it's a multi part story like the original trilogy."

That's what I was referring to, even though I didn't say it outright. The cliffhanger leads to Andromeda II. Think of the massive speculation by forum members over what will happen in the next story.

What if defeating the Andromeda boss means that we can return to the MW?  Buwahahahahah! I imagine the fan base would just love that.... :o

That would probably mean a big mess for Bioware to clean up if that happens.

I know. I was being facetious. Cleaning up big messes for ME seems to be par for the course!

BioWare hit the sweet spot with mid range boss fights in Balders Gate 2 imo.  You often faced groups of higher level enemies of differing classes which presented a good tactical challenge without being cheesy.  In later games these type of groups are not as well rounded and easier to beat.  (One good mini boss fight in ME was the krogan and his group after you rescue liara.  (Terrible that they had an unavoidable cutscene right before that battle mind you.)

So a well rounded enemy team will have some heavy hitters, some biotics and some techs.

One thing that BioWare has totally failed at over the last number of games is big boss fights.  They can't seem to balance them out and toss out the same formula.  Big boss fights a bit, gets hurt, flys away where you can't hurt them, a bunch of minions come out, rinse and repeat.

I would like some things like the Mass Effect 2 Final Boss, maybe a couple of them, because the first time I fought that, I had to replay it a lot of times because I had to learn how to fight it. I kind of hate it when some bosses just eat bullets when they are humanoids just like you, unless they have strong shields or biotic barriers boosted by tech. At least give us a good reason why they can eat bullets. (or Heat sinks)

As long as it isn't a full cinematic boss

*Cough* Halo 5 *Cough*

I could see it being a fight with a small Dropship or hellicopter like vehicle while you're on the ground. You killed their team off but the commander or whoever on their side isn't happy and commes at you with the last of his assets a vehicle of some kind hoping size and bullet resistance will grant a revenge for the pummeling you gave their team.

So basically the Mantis fight at the end of Garrus' recruitment mission?

Still that was pretty fun.

That sort of thing's OK if they put an autosave point after the cutscene, as well as one before it.

This is the first time in 4 months of being here that I've run out of likes. But I wanted to like this post just for the word "facetious," because it's a fabulous word.

If a boss fight is going to go through multiple cutscenes, change venue, or sprout more and more powers out before it finally kicks the bucket, I agree that autosave is needed.

Looking at you, Uncharted 2. That boss is a NIGHTMARE on "Crushing" mode!

Obliviousness, thank you for the compliment. We gamer girls need to support ourselves and stick together! I've learned that being facetious is also a very useful talent for us when dealing with jerks. They never get it, which makes it so fun.

The end of the game should be an exciting last level followd by a good boss fight, like the end of the Trespasser DLC.
ME 3's last level was a great disappointment, especially the unnecessary and boring squad farewells.

Honestly, I'd skip the boss fight part of that. ME1 and ME2 would have been better if their final boss fights had been simply cut.

I like boss fights, ME1 and 2 boss battles were fun and it felt like I accomplished something. That's what boss battles are about. Boss fights are golden, just look at the souls games; they revolve around boss fights. I want boss fights to stay in the video game formula. The clone fight in ME3 was the best fight in ME3, and he was a boss character. Compare that with the lack of a boss fight in the ending of ME3, it was boring and anti-climatic. I wish they would have stuck with their original Idea and made the illusive man a boss character, instead of letting the player speak him to death.

this would have been epic.

So by showing off that his greatest strength is his mind, he grows a giant muscular arm?

I dunno, In my opinion, the Illusive Man morphing into some abomination at the will of the Reapers sounds awesome.

I'd love a boss fight if it was more than just hammering out max DPS

Why I love games from Platinum. They're great at doing the huge, big boss fights.

That was bioware's plan but felt it would not have been good for the story. I wish he could have turned into some reaper creature like saren. "Sigh" when bioware has good ideas that never come to light. It's a shame.

I think that BW missed an opportunity for a truly epic last fight in ME3 against Harbinger himself. Don't know how they will manage to do that, but the game practically demanded a Shadow of the Colossus style fight against at least one Reaper capital ship. Such a shame...

Epic music while fighting it would've helped too, like in Trespasser.

Hum... I don't like endless boss that take 4 hours to die, it's boring. But I like boss with great charisma, design and a great fight music :)

I remember the final boss of Parasite Eve 1 (well, that's old but I have good memories about this game), the music evolved each time the final boss grew up at each new round, it was epic <3

"Good boss fight"? I feel hard pressed to remember any. The enemy carrier in Carrier Command? Ye, that's the only one that comes to mind right now.
