Would you want it to be an extension of Inquisition? Do you want it to be a game of thrones/ Lord of the rings/ Witcher hybrid? What would you like to see? I personally want to see more shadow of mordor, Witcher elements as well as the hobbit. I didn't know where else to put this thread so f#@$ it.

I'm all for that as well and let's hope that Bioware stay on their own course and not another one they are doing just fine.

I'd like Dragon Age to stay as Dragon Age too.

I agree with you all.  The next DA should keep the same trend,  DAI was/is the best.  I am new to DA and am just getting DAO - I'm kind of backwards in the sequence but I loved DAI so much!!!! The only thing I would change is adding content.  The politics are great! Decisions at the war table change the game - a bit anyway.  ***hope this is not a spoiler -- One can lose at an operation like losing the Inquisitor's entire clan. (still have not figured how to fix that.) It didn't seem to effect the game but still --- ***

I kind of like the romance too but after one commits the passion runs out - hopefully not mimicking real life. And I'm not talking raw sex scenes - not what this game was intended for - but gee there's only so many times one can kiss Cullen on the battlements or Jose in 'the garden' - over and over and over gets old.  just change the location even.  Having tea or a beer with them and/or companions would be great.  Like making a special option to play cards, go for a walk, or just get drunk would be a good change of pace.  The developers could even keep the same format just change the dialogue up. I know - I know - maybe lots of work.

OK - OK - I am too detailed but I do care especially when such quality and level of detail has gone into DAI. This endeavour, I'm sure, took more time to create than an Oscar winning production - well, almost.  The actors were probably payed less.

The current format is absolute terrible. Dragon Age is not suppose to be a MMO game. It's suppose to be a Role-Playing game. I want the next Dragon Age game continue the format of Origins format.

I'm tired of the MMO like behaviors in this game.

PS, LibbyMeow. you will love DA:Origins far more than DAI. That's a promise. The only plus side for DA: I is the graphics improvement.

I have to second this.
I do LOVE Inquisition, but I have just started an Origins replay and I was reminded of the reasons why I loved that game so much.

Anyway, back on topic. DA should stay DA, IMHO: heavy on the RPG elements, with a lot of exploration and lore information. I would be very sad if it sacrificed these elements in favour of a more "action RPG" style. Not that I don't like action RPG games, but there are many of those out there already.

Things that would be nice extras: a day-night cycle, more urban exploration (it would be cool to have one big city to explore), origin stories similar to DA:O, unique hairstyles for the main character.

Things that would make me not buy the game: if it's online only and/or free to play.

I think Inquisition is a good base to move forward from. The game needs tweaks, but it is a good enough base of a game that something great can be achieved and scraping everything and overhauling what we have now could lead to a game that is worse in every regard.

I hope the combat system gets an overhaul. Either go back to the tactical style of Origins or embrace an actiony style like The Witcher or The Elder Scrolls. The hybrid system they're using now doesn't really capture the fun of either approach. Either way, I'd like them to clean up the visuals associated with it. I'm not even sure what I'm seeing half the time. Just weird, multicolored explosions going off with no obvious cause or effect.

I would like to see them keep the large zones but overhaul the quest system to feel less mmo like.   I want to see more variety in the npcs,  meaning I want peasants to look like peasants.  In the hinterlands the supposedly scared and starving refugees looked just fine standing around with their clean clothes,  DAI was lacking when it came to realistically portraying how people looked in rough circumstances. Overall I enjoyed the combat but at times it was too flashy and lacked brutality.  I want to see limbs  severed and decapitiations.  I like brutal bloody combat.  DAO's combat might have been slow and lacked fluidity but it nailed the brutality aspect.  I miss the old kill animations.  DAI's combat was fluid and responsive but for DA4 they need to bring back the bloody medieval brutality aspect to it.

Combat - It's okay, nice and fluid but maybe not as good as DA2 combat. They will keep it similar I am almost certain, making little tweaks as they have done each game so far. Maybe its time to tweak higher difficulty a bit more because Nightmare was a bit easier this time, trials were fun though! They need to rethink the tactics system, also.

Exploration - Hopefully nothing mmo styled like Inquisition! Open-world can work but needs to be better than it was done in Inquisition. Go back to DA2 resource collection method please! Farming resources was the single most feature which made it feel like an mmo at times in Inquisition, for me it was more this than fetch quests that reminded me of an mmo, which I don't mind having some fetch quests because its realistic in a few scenarios that you have to fetch something important for somebody. City environments could be made busier, each dragon age game has lacked in that department.

Lore - Brilliant, keep it up.

Characters - Very good here as well, good variety in personalities and mostly well written. They could maybe bring back the rivalry thing but only for certain people because it doesn't really suit everybody! Friendships in dragon age I tend to really enjoy though. I don't care for the romances, I have never enjoyed any romance in Dragon Age and the few I have completed were for roleplay reasons, I would rather people that were interested in the romances dictate how they go in future...

So thats just the bare bones of what I would like them to work on... not a great deal of change and my only real annoyance in Inquisition was collecting resources. Why sending out a war table mission to get some basic common item like elfroot only comes back with 6 I have never understood - seriously 6?!? It should have been more like 20 at least lol

I want them to keep the format they had for the DLCs but make that into the main game. Descent had a good dungeon aspect especially for the deep roads that should stay the same when we explore ruins, temples, and the deep roads. Jaws of Hakkon had the best open area in the game and best use of it let that continue. And Trespasser is how the main quest should be done. Return cutscenes, less codex and more showing I dont want to play dragon age the book I want to play dragon age the game. Minor Npcs or a NPC after the initial conversation can do the zoom out convo but the old dragon age approach with cutscene convos that companions actively interact in not waiting to be asked should return. The conversations in this game was a elder scrolls approach Dragon Age needs to stick to there guns and refine it not try what others did. Also if the game is going to be set in Tevinter the tone of the game needs to return to Origins. Inquisition was more bright compared to Origins in more then just environment but Tevinter seems like a place thats tone and setting should be nothing like Orlais or even Fereldan.

Tactics was the worse they have ever been. Go back to the Origins format of Tactics, the pause camera was good in this game but lets expand the type of commands we can give and number of commands. Example I should be able to let my warrior taunt but right after already have the next command ready instead of moving time just so they can taunt then freeze again. The old Tactics format would have prevented mages from casting barrier during unwanted periods.

Combat system basic attacks was fine had nice speed. But if we are going to Tevinter the mage tree needs to serious be revamped. There are 4 schools of magic and we only used 1 and 1/4. Fire, Electric, and Ice are all under one school while Spirit is part of another school. No reason to dumb down the magic bring back the trees from origins. Specializations should not have any basic magic spells like walking bomb how is that being special? Also specializations should not be a collection quest. If we want to be a assassin ok lets go on a assassination quest, a templar ok lets get some lyrium and go to a templar training session or fight a rogue mage, Reaver lets go kill a dragon and drink its blood. Its a specialization lets work for it and make it feel actually special.

What I really want are strong narrative choices that reinforce the underlying theme of the game. Whatever it is, I want the decisions I make to have consequences, good and bad points to each, and given reasons to pick either one. If I have options, let me see them.

In Inquisition, I felt like I was being given no reason to side with the Templars other than Cullen's token resistance: Not a single templar made me like the choice until after I picked it. There were plenty of jerk mages and idiocy around in the rebellion, but seriously, no one?

Leliana told us our name had become something in the rank and file templars? Great, show me that. Don't just develop one choice and then throw in the other just to see if someone will pick it.

Also, no ridiculously arbitrary distinctions. In Inquisition, I could dick over a lot of folks, like my sadistic cruelty to the Boxed Duchess, the Sahrnia mayor. I could punch Solas or Dorian when they got on my nerves. I could mock the devout and stab a few people. But for some reason, Krem's "disorder" was off limits. That was nothing more than ridiculous political correctness

Maybe its because a Game of Thrones T.V. show has returned, but I'd like to see the heroes lose sometimes, and the villains come out on top to make the world more believable.

Game play on number 2 was more fun..   dealing with bigger hordes of enemies , trying to control bigger mobs, elite mobs was more fun  than this scaled down game ...   The consistent zoning into linear zones sucked...   As  I said before too, I hate 4 people parties and wish they would allow more, baldurs gate had it right was in the earlier 90's a six person party is much better with a tank and healer taking 2 spots, it only leaves with 2 spots  which is generally a mage for AoE and a rogue for strong melee, there is no customization with a 4 man party.   and again as I said, if they don't create situations where you get to use your whole party  especially when you first meat corypheus ( or whatever the big baddie is ) and you have four party members just vanish and abandon your team.  Dragon age one had a huge epic battle to end it in which your whole scripted party was there.   The inconsistencies in this series are pretty bad,  the dev team is all over the place ...  I really liked that one mission in the castle where you have to impress nobles and explore, it was a huge open environment , it added a nice little twist to the modern grind, as much as I don't like running around talking to to people, it was a good pace changer and done well .

In all honesty since EA is the publisher and has control of the franchise, I believe it to only be down hill as EA is nothing but a money grabbing corporation that couldn't give two craps of its customer base, just its bank . They force dev teams to rush games which is never good, I cant imagine anyone that has a passion for video games  happily working with EA...

and BTW SHADOW OF MORDER WAS THE BIGGEST TRASH GAME EVER... Like assassins creed, HOLD A BUTTON TO RUN THROUGH THE GAME, Hope your camera angle points to right object so you don't get stuck jumping on orcs heads,  then press X for combat ...  no challenge to the game, no fun,  stand in one spot Press X for hours as the horde keeps merging on you, super fun ...   I hope games like that are never made again, stupid easy mode single button games , such garbage ...
