does the Galactic Readiness % still degrade? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that there is a way to increase it using the N7:HQ, but it's still absurd to me that I have to do that to get the most out of my single player experience. I understand why they did it in the first place, to encourage people to play MP, but I shouldn't be punished 4 YEARS later because I'm not interested in playing that side of the game.

I never play MP, my galactic readiness is always at 50%. Update your game with extended cut,

And this is a big reason why linking SP to MP on any level is a terrible thing and should be thrown out the airlock

As stated previously, you can get the "best" ending without playing multiplaying just by investing in the extended cut (since it drops the EMS required to get that ending by a significant amount).  Still, I agree lakus that the EMS/multiplayer connection should be removed... but I also doubt it will be done ever.  Basically, ME3 is an old enough game that Bioware rewriting/reprogramming any of it now is highly, highly unlikely.

To get the breath scene without playing multiplayer and dlc's, is to not let TIM shoot Anderson and to gather every possible asset in the game. Even with the extended cut, there is not enough assets to get the breath scene unless the player doesn't let TIM shoot Anderson. This only applies to a default ME3 playthrough.

With an import from ME2, its not hard. Its even easier if dlc's are completed.

As far as the readiness still degrading? Don't know. Haven't played since March 2012

Although I've never let TIM shoot Anderson, I don't think this is correct.  Isn't the EMS level required to be at least 3100 for the breath scene in the EC?  I'm pretty sure mine is well above that number for the numerous times I've finished the game on Wii U.

Themikefest and I have had a bit of a discussion on this before; and I believe that he/she is referring to a game that you start in ME3 with no import and no DLC other than the Extended Cut.  If you import your save from ME2, you'll get some war assets for mineral resources and some of the ME1 and ME2 characters (provided they survived)... which makes it even easier to get the "best/breath" ending without doing any multiplayer.

As for the degrading factor... that only started to apply if you have already done some multiplayer.  If you don't play any multiplayer, your EMS factor is 50%, which is already the lowest it can be, so it will not degrade over time.  I'm not sure whether that degradation still occurs.  All the Wiki indicates is:  "Readiness will not fall as long as the PC/console is kept offline."

That's a good point.  I have never had a Shepard without ME1/ME2 choices.

As I said in my post, it only applies to a default ME3 playthrough. The most ems that can be for the playthrough is about 2970. Having TIM not shoot Anderson will give 200 war assets. Those 200 will not be effected by the 50%. So its enough to give you the breath scene.

When I do a playthrough, I make sure I have 3200 ems when heading to Earth. Its in case I decide to let TIM shoot Anderson. Tim shooting Anderson will cause the player to lose 100 war assets.

If interested, click on 'Did you know?' in my sugnature for some interesting things about the ems numbers.

No need to explain as the "Default ME3" playthrough didn't even register to me.  I've gotten so used to the Wii U version that that's what I think of when I see "Default ME3". :)

You can prevent TIM from shooting Anderson? I didn't think that was possible.

I havn't played since last december so I know my readiness is back down to 50%.  Right now I am busy with DAI with some Skyrim and even a bit of Witcher 3  mixed in.  Once I have had my fill with fantasy I will probably head back into ME 1 and finish up the playthrough I started months ago (dude in my avatar).  So I will run him through ME 1 and ME 2 then when I head into ME 3 with him I will head back into the ME 3 MP get it back up.  I don't mind having to work it back up.  It doesn't take that long and I like how as I am progressing through my ME 3 playthrough I eventually get it back  up.  Since that is the only time I play the MP is when I am doing a ME 3 playthrough anyway.

If you don't take the paragon dialog, there will be a renegade interrupt when TIM shoots Anderson. Then, another interrupt when TIM shoots you which results in game over. TIM can kill Anderson and fail to kill you.:)

Ah, I guess I misunderstood. I was thinking of when he is controlling Shepard and makes you shoot Anderson.

I did sort of feel that you might be asking about the first shot, but I always sorta saw it as a Shepard/TIM moment more than Anderson. :)

The Infiltrator app does raise your EMS value as well. You won't be able to find it on the Android store though as of 2015. There was effectively four ways to raise it, when ME3 was still being supported.

The EMS still degrades, because of how powerful the Reapers are. If you don't boost up certain sections of space, you're going to lose the fight.
