In my installation (BG1 2.1 and SoD 2.1) neither Imoen or Ajantis have a kit assigned.

If you have the mod NPC_EE installed you can make Imoen a half-elf thief/mage and you can choose one kit for her which can be either a mage or a thief kit.

I assume shadow has not got all the game files so just shows Kensai because it happens to be next item in the list?
Wise, you do understand that DS adds plot reasions for Imoen that don't make much sence if you mod her race | class ... I'm look forward to seeing a Good party take on DS.

I had no idea. Thanks for telling me while I was still testing rather than when I was playing the game.
Is it OK if she is a kitted thief, not that any of the standard kits interest me. The adventurer one does, but the mod that gives the adventurer kit doesn't seem to be compatible yet.
One thing that has confused me somewhat is that the mod now appears to be working correctly.
Perhaps I had a corrupted game.
