PSA:
I love video game concept art.
Sometimes I'll overlook the game itself and drool at concept art.
Such as Overwatch.
Played it, enjoyed it, then remembered why I hated PVP.
I'm just an art geek okay.
I love game art and just art works in general. I do spend a lot of the time looking over the environments and seeing the details they've put in game. Concept art is always exciting because it shows all the different ways the character could've become as well how the developers came to the final design. It's also really sick eye candy most of the times!
But I'm not a fan of the Overwatch art style from what I've seen. I find it too bland and shallow personally but then again I'm not a huge fan of blizzard's art in general.
It's the general attitude of PvP players that turns people off.
Not everyone is a competitive player, crazy about the match result. Gaming is not a serious business.
Plus, the majority of PvP playerbase are squeakers. I'd rather avoid such peeps, thank you very much.
Just because it's competitive doesn't mean it's all serious. Football is a competitive sport but it is quite fun to play right? Playing a pvp game like battlefield etc with a couple friends can be pretty fun in the same way. Sure there's some squeakers but the majority of them? Nope, I don't think so.
Also you get to play against better competition than robotic A.I. and people bring with them their own range of emotions, gimmicks, playstyles and behaviors that make the game more fun. Not saying co-op or single player isn't fun, just that pvp isn't the gaming hell everyone makes it out to be. In fact I've met some of the best people I know online in situations where we were trying to kill each other in a digital world.
