I've tried to find another Co-op game to replace ME3MP plenty of times, but none of them ever felt as good, and I just keep coming back. Borderlands 2, Dead Space 2, Battlefield 4, Battlefront, DAI MP, Warframe, Skyforge. Plus plenty of other kinds of games. The two newer Tomb Raider games, Skyrim, Fallout NV/4, Mortal Kombat X, Saints Row 3/4, XCOM2, Witcher 2/3, assorted Total Wars, World of Warcraft, Rift, Guild Wars 2, and so on...
Some of them I liked, some not so much, but the only two games that I keep coming back to are ME3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic. And Secret World, but a lot less than the other two. I am looking forward to Total War: Warhammer for now. I enjoy TW well enough, but I get bored with the lack of varied units. I'm not familiar with WH, but I'm pretty sure the fantasy setting will keep me interested longer.
Never tried Borderlands series before, and I noticed that I greatly prefer the general structure of its co-op game 'progress' over ME3 (not that there is such a thing as 'progress' in an ME3MP match). The ME3MP confined arena survival crap is lame. With Borderlands you get to actually play the game and at least have some experiences. Plus BL1 & BL2 allow for local co-op play...which is even better.
That's, uhh, pretty much the exact opposite of me.
I have played Borderlands 2 some, and a little bit of 3, and enjoyed them to some extent, though only for short periods at a time. Because I enjoy ME3, I decided to try co-op on BL2. Ran through two areas with a team, hated it, and I actually haven't bothered to even turn on the game since. Though if I had someone to play local co-op with, it might be a bit better. I'm pretty sure the "confined arena survival crap" combined with pure co-op with no PvP is why I enjoy ME3MP so much. Plus if I want to play through something with any sort of actual narrative, like Borderlands or Dead Space, I WILL take the time to listen to dialogue and enjoy the story, which doesn't really work with random people trying to forcibly push me along because they want to get to the next bit of combat.
As for DAI:MP, the horrendous RNG store, combined with being forced to promote over and over just to not be a leech on the higher levels turned me off. I like getting a character to max level, and then playing with it. Not immediately downgrading it to level one and starting over. Sure, I'll promote a few times to figure out what build/s I like, but then I want to actually USE it.
