I've tried to find another Co-op game to replace ME3MP plenty of times, but none of them ever felt as good, and I just keep coming back.  Borderlands 2, Dead Space 2, Battlefield 4, Battlefront, DAI MP, Warframe, Skyforge.  Plus plenty of other kinds of games.  The two newer Tomb Raider games, Skyrim, Fallout NV/4, Mortal Kombat X, Saints Row 3/4, XCOM2, Witcher 2/3, assorted Total Wars, World of Warcraft, Rift, Guild Wars 2, and so on...

Some of them I liked, some not so much, but the only two games that I keep coming back to are ME3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic.  And Secret World, but a lot less than the other two.  I am looking forward to Total War: Warhammer for now.  I enjoy TW well enough, but I get bored with the lack of varied units.  I'm not familiar with WH, but I'm pretty sure the fantasy setting will keep me interested longer.

Never tried Borderlands series before, and I noticed that I greatly prefer the general structure of its co-op game 'progress' over ME3 (not that there is such a thing as 'progress' in an ME3MP match).  The ME3MP confined arena survival crap is lame.  With Borderlands you get to actually play the game and at least have some experiences.  Plus BL1 & BL2 allow for local co-op play...which is even better.

That's, uhh, pretty much the exact opposite of me.  I have played Borderlands 2 some, and a little bit of 3, and enjoyed them to some extent, though only for short periods at a time.  Because I enjoy ME3, I decided to try co-op on BL2.  Ran through two areas with a team, hated it, and I actually haven't bothered to even turn on the game since.  Though if I had someone to play local co-op with, it might be a bit better.  I'm pretty sure the "confined arena survival crap" combined with pure co-op with no PvP is why I enjoy ME3MP so much.  Plus if I want to play through something with any sort of actual narrative, like Borderlands or Dead Space, I WILL take the time to listen to dialogue and enjoy the story, which doesn't really work with random people trying to forcibly push me along because they want to get to the next bit of combat.

As for DAI:MP, the horrendous RNG store, combined with being forced to promote over and over just to not be a leech on the higher levels turned me off.  I like getting a character to max level, and then playing with it.  Not immediately downgrading it to level one and starting over.  Sure, I'll promote a few times to figure out what build/s I like, but then I want to actually USE it.

True.  I believe I'd rather solo the story than PUG.  Not that BL1 or BL2 have much of a story-line...but that doesn't bother me.

I've been playing them side-by-side (aka locally) with my little guy (he's 11), and it's been quite enjoyable.

Normally, you buy a game. Have some fun for a few days. Then move on. Or if it is a good game, you have some fun for a few weeks. But then again, you move on to the next one. And maybe or maybe not, come back to play the game again in a year time, that is, if the game is good one. But with ME3 multiplayer, I have lost for words. I still remember the first time I tried ME3 multiplayer in Bronze. Sweaty palm, shaky hands and eyes wide opened. I mean, how many years now.... I am still playing ME3 multiplayer. The game requires skill, knowledge, luck, team work. The combination of characters with skills and weapons offers so so many possibilities. One may follow someone else's suggestion and build a character... with certain skills and weapons. Or just develop one that you find liking to. I have two builds for gold and platinum over the years, one infamous Krogan Vanguard and the other one is Destroyer soldier. And then just use the challenges to make up build as I go along for the silver games. This game is just so much fun to play. But I have to thank to those I have played with over the years, without them, I would not have so many enjoyable moments in ME3 multiplayer.

Plot twist: Mass Effect and Transformers are actually set in the same universe.

FYI, that looks like the single most chaotic game ever made.

I have been playing Overwatch and I gotta say that it seems to be a nice destination for a ME3 veteran to migrate to at this point. It sort of keeps the premise of cooperative, class-oriented, shooting + power casting arena gameplay of ME3's in a competitive team versus team fashion. Possibly, had ME3 been a loot-less, alien-less, plot-poor competitive game, It would have been somewhat like Overwatch is.

I can't say I won't be visiting ME3 every now and then, but I am pretty hooked on this new tittle.

thanks, Overwatch is really interesting. I will defininitely check it out.

But I am surprised:  there is no grind in this game except for "cosmetic" items ?

I am no fan of the grind factor in Warframe, etc.   but in Mass Effect I enjoyed unlocking and getting better weapons + gear

(kinda...)

Also, there is no level-system ?    And how do I build the character - are there choices to make ?

Yep, all unlockables are comestic. Skins, poses, voice lines, that sorta thing. It looks silly, but from a PvP perspective it makes sense. After all it would be unfair if a player were much stronger than you just because he doesn't have a life and plays 20 hours a day.

Characters don't level up nor change their loadout. They don't have builds either. Everything is preset. It may look like there isn't much depth, but the strength here is that each character plays completely different and feels totally different. Also you can change between characters during matches on-the-fly, in order to adapt to the team's needs. Matches aren't that long either, I would say 6-10 minutes on average, but they usually get hectic as hell.

in case you are to check it out, there is no better time to do it than right now, the open beta is free and available to anyone (and will remain so for two more days), all you need to do is to install the Battlenet app.

thanks.

but I think, as good as this game might be -
adding a little more long term motivation through different builds, gear, etc. would probably make it even better.

nevertheless I will probably buy it on May 24th

I've put more time into it than the others I've tried and I only dipped into MK 10 online and DAMP for a few months. Me3 is a special kind of crack.

Assssin's Creed: Brotherhood is my alternative to ME3's MP. It's a special kind of crack, too. The kind that isn't always available, but when it is, you can't get enough.

Yep, something totally awesome about a Masquerade (Fancy dress party for fancy people, for you peasants) where everybody is trying to kill each other (secretly/stealthily when played right!).

I've done a fair bit of online gaming in the past twenty or so years.

A few Battlefronts(Notably Vietnam and Starwars I/II) which compare quite nicely.

Used to play WoW off and on for 8 years or so. Got heavily into the raiding scene for a while there back in late Vanilla/BC/WOTLK. Then got an even worse case of PvP for three years after that. Gotta say out of all my gaming experiences hands down doing RBGS with the group/guild I'm probably still in was the best experience. Bloody hilarious and definitely the most challenging time I've had in a game.

I tried Warframe and ditched it after about an hour. No thanks.

Got into Firefall for a summer during a particularly stable time in their development.(which isn't saying much) Tried to go back to it but the game is just broken. Unfortunate as the game had a lot of similarities to ME3MP and could've been quite good, even better.

Thought it was just me who hated that pile of s**t Warframe. ME3MP is buggy, crashes often (my crap connection probably), but I keep coming back for more. Best game I've played in 40 years of gaming, beats the first ever computer games anyways.

I ended up liking Warframe more than I do ME3 MP. Same with the Souls series, which are my favorite online games, though I don't think the comparison between Dark Souls and ME3 is very apt since they have very little in common. There are a lot of games I like more than ME3 MP, actually, but I'm not the sort who plays one game at the exclusion of all others so I still check back in with ME3 MP every once in a while. Often just to find it's the same buggy pile of **** it's always been, but that's not to say it isn't fun in moderation.

I've never really encountered any bugs in the multiplayer. There's some, obviously, but nothing that makes me think "this game is a buggy pile of ****".

I think the worst thing that's happened is my equipment going haywire at one point on the PS3 in a game with OWA. :P

Snap Freeze bonus

On Host Phantom DR

Triple Rocket

Missile Glitch

Hydra Camp

XP/Credit Loss (Possible to fix if you know how but still. If you don't...)

This v1.6 UK thing I've read about?

PC Shockwave Impotence

...off the top of my head. And I'm pretty high so, yeah. That's saying something.

Mind you, despite the bugs, I still come back for moar. That should not go unsaid.

I am trying to change up my nightly routine of drinking & playing the same 2 games...nba2k & this .......so, ( brace for it )  ..I now play battlefield 4 multiplayer.

It is actually quite enjoyable. I really like sneaking up on someone then stabbing them in the neck with a combat knife. The match times alone are ridiculous......Last night 2 of them were over 50 minutes each....which forced me to cut back on the drinking...I never was a big fan of 1st person shooters or PvP...but this is kinda fun.  ( how I got into this is thru the Crysis series....same combat system cept Im shootin people stead of dem aliens )....also, not to mention the enjoyment of finding a camper as I'm in an f-14 and flying it right into them as I eject.

I preferred Battlefield 3 to Battlefield 4. The only thing that I really enjoyed about BF4 was Siege of Shanghai... then again, I disconnected every time there was a Levolution event :P Wasn't going to be a good experience for me XD

Overwatch is great. Awesome gameplay, awesome lore, awesome characters.

To those who haven't played it, the open beta ends quite soon. If you want to try it, now's the time.

C'mon. The hit detection is atrocious (for both enemies and the player), some power evolutions straight up don't work, some mods don't apply weight to vanilla weapons, Everything is based on how many frames per second you get, so 30 FPS - the enemies will react one way on 60 FPS they will react another way, on 120 - another and on lower than 20, you can basically troll the enemies the whole game and if you're moving even a little bit - they won't hit ****. On higher than 60 FPS, some kits have way lower shield regen.

EVERY objective can be either exploited or glitched:

1. Pizza - you can run with it (removing most of the challenge from the objective) and if you drop it, on many maps it may fall through the floor, rendering the objective impossible to complete.

2. Targets - they may become immortal and/or stuck on some unreachable places.

3. Drone escort - the drone may not appear at all or fall through the map

4. Hack - you can jump out of the circle and upload the objective outside of it thus removing all the challenge.

5. 4 Objects - on some maps you can cap them through solid walls (glacier, white, jade)

Seriously I could make a list of at least 500 bugs.

Well, occasionally I'll hit something with a Widow and it won't register. The biggest problem I have is invisible air barriers that stop me shooting enemies from a particular point. I get that a lot. :P

I don't think I use the power evolutions that don't work a great deal, so it doesn't affect me.

I've never had the objective falling through the floor glitch.

I've had a Banshee up on the balcony on White every now and again, but nothing AP ammo/good angle can't fix. Nothing other than that.

Never had the drone falling through the floor or not appearing.

Never seen or glitched the hack.

Never seen or done that either. :P

That you don't use something or didn't notice something, doesn't mean the game isn't buggy as hell.
