Hello guys,

 

I would appreciate your help with this one. I have decided to continue a game I have started 5 years ago and remained unfinished. Therefore, I installed the game yesterday and tried to load some of the relevant saves. The problem is that while loadind the game seems to freeze while "unpacking modules", like it is unable to load them at all. The loading screen appears on the screen and remains there forever. Nothing happens. This applies to all my old saves. 

 

The game is installed properly, I have checked by starting a new game.

When you saved the game five years ago, were you using a fully patched version (1.23.1765)? If it was a module/campaign using custom content, are you sure you reinstalled everything too?

I am sure that it was not a campaign using custom content. However, I cannot remember which version of the game I was playing at the time. Can I track it from the save files? Now I have the version  1.00.788 English installed and I cannot update it from the NWUpdate (I don't know why).

They took down the online update server.  You need to download the patches manually now.  I'd guess the reason for your saves not loading is that you saved with a more updated version of the game than what you're currently running.

Glad to hear it.  I wish I knew of a set of instructions I could link to for this, as the question has come up more frequently since they abandoned the update server.
