yes, Minerva is the one in my Avatar ^^

My first 'canon' was intended to be a human female only thing, so I intend to remake that world state, just with different characters and such

The other world states are a bit more varied, especially the one for my CE, that one will have each race at least once. So if we can play the other races again in the next game that one will be a dwarf. (Seeing as that world state is going to be elf - human - qunari and hopefully dwarf after that)

I've done a Dalish with Leliana before as well, I wanted him to romance Morrigan at first, but Leliana kinda ninja-manced me during that playthrough ^^;

Then suddenly Morrigan comes with the line of 'tis cold in my tent at night'

at the time I made a head canon that Morrigan had a crush on my Dalish elf and was jealous of his relationship with Leliana, and the fool of course fell for her charms, thus breaking Leliana's heart. I intend to make it up to her this playthrough since it's the same elf I'm going to play, just a remake

As for him warming up to Andrastian beliefs...he kinda thinks all gods are hogwash anyway. But talking to Leliana makes him think that maybe, just maybe there's someone out there looking out for them. Even if it's just some guy/lady who enjoys toying with mortals -_-

and yes, I am having fun, quite a lot actually ^^

Though I take small breaks in which I draw

I try to mix up genders, but I don't know about races. I hate the extra races in DAI. lol. The next game sounds like it be better suited again though, like DAO.

I'm eventually going to make a male warden who's a father to a normal Kieran (aka. no ritual)

I tried a world state where there was no child at all, but it didn't feel right with me

especially because Morrigan referred to my Warden as 'hardly friends' as it were, whilst the two of them were vast friends during the times of Origins

So I've decided I'll either make a world state where there's an OGB Kieran (I love his cryptic lines, he should talk with Cole :P ), or one where Kieran is normal

I still have several achievements to do (such as sacrificing my Warden or Alistair) as well as the somewhat more 'darker' choices, such as annulling the Circle, killing the Elves etc.

also @ Illegitimus, I personally prefer to put either Alistair alone or him with Anora, for my canon world state I'm dubbing on which of the two I'll do

on one side, a joined marriage between Alistair and Anora is better for Ferelden, on the other side I can't justify having my warden's best friend (or in some cases lover) marry a woman he doesn't exactly like, and who also tried to have him killed (

Now, now.  She only tries to have him killed if you don't marry them.  But the main reason why I'd have Anora as queen, married to Alistair or not, is because I think it fits better with the Inquisition's relationship with Ferelden in Trespasser and possibly with what happens in Redcliffe with the mages.

I always saw Redcliffe in light of Alistair. He's always been sympathetic to mages.. that carried through DA2 to here. As King I mean.

I don't know what it has to do with the HoF.

I always imagined that his reaction to Fiona 'I wanted to help you people' alluded to either a mage warden (if the world state includes one) or to Wynne (who was sort of like a surrogate mother to him) whom he respected greatly

My Mage Warden didn't wish for her fellow mages to be freed; she was waiting for someone to prove to her that she was right doing that, and she was proven correct by Anders/Justice so many times, she was happy in her descion making (she's a little paranoid to be honest...)

My elf is like Fenris and Sera... too shaped by bad stories of mages. And he didn't do enough for helping Connor... at least in Alistair's eyes. It almost destroyed whatever little friendship they had.

But even then, I could see how this motivates Alistair to take care of Redcliffe later. Or Leliana stepping up herself in Hushed Whispers. Helping mages is like "unfinished business" for them.

I never really saw it that way before, it does make sense I suppose

On another note, for fun I tried to come up with some personalities for my main wardens

I intend to create some for my Hawke's and Inquisitors as well as I go to play them

For those interested, here they are ^^

Aisling Tabris, female elf, Rogue: Duelist, Shadow

Aisling is the morally ambiguous one, she’ll smile one minute, and steal your coin the next. Depending on her mood she might also make off with your clothes…or decide that plunging a knife in your vitals is all you deserve. She believes everyone should be equal, no matter who they are. This often puts her at odds with authorial figures. With her quick wit she is often capable of swaying any person she comes across.

Iorwerth Cousland, male human, Warrior: Templar, Spirit Warrior

Iorwerth is a typical noble, who thinks he stands above everything and everyone. He doesn’t care what you think of him, since he doesn’t think much of you either. He’s pompous and an insufferable jerk, and his only redeeming quality seems to be that he’s a loving family member and eventual father. He tries to do the right thing, but oft it seems that the death of his family, and then the failure at Ostagar have made him bitter, making him pragmatic at best.

Minerva ‘Mina’ Amell, female human, Mage: Shapeshifter, Keeper

Minerva is in one word a sweetheart, nothing you say will anger her no matter how you insult her. However, should you fail to heed her warnings, you might find yourself on the receiving end of her spells. Though it takes a long time before she arrives at this point. She can come off as a bit naïve, but is in reality very intellectual and smarter than others might think.

Arenor Mahariel, male elf, Rogue: Ranger, Bard

Arenor is calm and collected, cares for his people…but not their lost past. Thinks any God or religion is a lot of pain in the butt and utterly ridiculous. The only reason he received his ritualistic vallaslin was so that people would stop treating him like a child. He does eventually warm up toward the Andrastian faith, but still thinks any person who sees themselves as a God is an idiot.

After many hours of deleted saves, wasted time and google searches i have decided that the best Canon Warden that is most suited to be transferred into DA2 and DAI is Human Warrior.

I always end up deleting any other class or race half way through the game or just before the Archdemon fight. It just doesn't feel right.

I like human warrior, but since my Inquisitor is a human rogue, I don't want to repeat something similar yet. Besides that, my Orlesian warden (along with Hawke) are human too.

Gotta spread the love a bit :P

I suppose I would go about it this way if I planned to make an elf in DAI or something. But I won't. I don't like story as it is even with a human...but that's doable for me.

I like playing as a human as well, but I've only finished Inquisition twice with an elf on both playthroughs

my first playthroughs tend to be the try outs, rushing through the story and getting some lukewarm ending

I'm currently trying to mix things up for each of my four canons (even if most of the choices still end up being the same  )

I tend to name my world states after the type of characters I've created, or their classes

Let's see...

I am the one

Aisling Tabris, rogue; duelist shadow (Zevran romance)

Callum Hawke, warrior; berserker (Isabela romance (friend), sarcastic

Sumia Adaar, mage; knight-enchanter (Iron Bull romance)

Ruthless calculus (which I plan on using for the more 'darker' choices)

Iorwerth Cousland, warrior; templar spirit warrior (Morrigan romance)

Vespera Hawke, rogue; assassin (Sebastian romance (rival), aggressive with hints of diplomatic (aka anime term tsundere)

Libra Trevelyan, warrior; champion (Cassandra romance)

The power within

Minerva Amell, mage; shapeshifter keeper (Alistair romance (Nathaniel in head canon)

Saoirse Hawke, mage; spirit healer (Fenris romance (friend), diplomatic with hints of sarcastic

Juliette Trevelyan, mage; rift mage (Cullen romance)

and lastly

Stand as one, stand together

Arenor Mahariel, rogue; bard ranger (Leliana romance)

Gawain Hawke, mage; force mage (Merrill romance (friend), diplomatic

Shalyndre Lavellan, rogue; tempest (Solas romance)

I tend to try and make up names for my Dalish elves using some chart from an old Dungeons and Dragons magazine I found on the internet :P

I love all the names. I'm not always good with that..or end up liking some of the defaults.

You need to fit a dwarf in there somewhere :P Unless you plan on that for the next game. I'm thinking about it, as far as main/canon goes.

thank you ^^

names are hard for me as well, so I tend to browse naming sites to find names with meanings that I like

for example, the ones for the power within world state each have a name that alludes to their role in the story

Minerva > intellect, the mind (also the name of the Roman goddess of wisdom) (she's my smartypants Warden)

Saoirse > freedom (as she fights for mage freedom, though not as extreme as Anders)

Juliette > descended from the sky (or the Fade, but seeing as the Breach is in the sky, eh...it'll fit :P )

I do plan on making a dwarf playthrough (I've done one once, as a dwarf commoner)

but I'm not sure yet on romance option (my commoner romanced Leliana)...might use that one for the Ultimate sacrifice

originally planned on Arenor to do that, but then I was like, eh...can't do that to Leliana

I'm not overly fond of the dwarven origins (as I've stated in my original post), so I hardly play them

for the I am the one world state I plan on making a dwarf for the next game (provided we can play as one)

Cool...

You said you romanced both Morrigan and Leliana on the elf? How does that work out in DAI? Does Leliana comment on Kieran?

I'm not sure, I haven't really tried a world state where I romance Leliana and have him be the father of Kieran at the same time

I'll let you know when I get around to that playthrough

fairly sure you get the same reaction as when Alistair or Loghain is the father of Kieran, but can't say for certain

Edit:

I've also started to set up a world state with a Dwarven Warden ^^

Life and let die

Parvati Aeducan, warrior; champion (no romance (dies against the Archdemon)

Eirian (male) Hawke, rogue; shadow (Anders romance(not sure yet on path), diplomatic or sarcastic

Thelaron Lavellan, warrior; templar (Dorian romance)

I never thought of themes for my world states, but that's cool. I think my "canon" should be "Rebel With a Cause". :P  CE, Mage Hawke, Reformer Trev/Divine Leli. Now if only the next game had a dwarf commoner. Hell, even Qunari might do the trick.

Mage Warden/Mage Hawke/Mage Inquisitor-a pattern develops.

I would have gotten Warden Cousland for Origins, but it was ruined by the fact that my Warden and Anora would no longer be together.

I really love magic, it's one of my favorite things about fantasy

bending the world to your will and creating things you couldn't do in real life (aside from when you use tools) ^-^

So making a world state with exclusively mages was a bit of a given for me

the Life and let die world state was named because...I was listening to James Bond soundtracks when I was thinking it up

And (in my opinion) you should name your world states something catchy, I find it more fun that way and it gives something unique to each world state you create ^^

At one point I also had one with only rogue characters, aptly named 'rogues do it from behind'

I've had countless other wardens in the past, my first warden was a Cousland (who became Queen), my second was Mahariel

I tend to count my playthroughs as finished when the credits roll by, aside from my many completed playthroughs I also have many 'playthroughs' I never finished

I suspect that by the time the Dragon Age series have finished I'll have even more Wardens, Hawke's, Inquisitors and who knows who else will come after them :P

I haven't had this much fun with a game series since...hm...can't remember really

I don't think I ever had a game series I enjoyed this much, though Fire Emblem is becoming a close second ^_^

It's a good idea... I suppose giving a world state some theme keeps me a bit grounded within it.

Although the whole "Rebel with a cause" thing is my most instinctual. It just happens to be good for that name because I already think that way.

Rebel with a cause sounds pretty neat ^^

especially when you create characters around that theme ^-^

Like I said in a previous post I also tend to give my characters a certain name theme

but I kind of went away from that because some themes don't really have many names around them that I like

The only world state with a current naming theme is the one with my human female mages,

I look forward to the next game to see what name I can give my next character :P

Thank you for remembering the ability that distinguishes humanity from mere animals and in fact makes technicians gods among men. You're right, we're totally the mages of the real world.

As for world state, I've taken the opposite approach and intend to make all my canon player characters mundane. That way, mage party members seem extra special and valued and unique, which I find complements the mystique of the setting and magic itself. And my characters get to display other strengths beyond simply having been born all-powerful. :P

Not sure about you guys, but I kinda wish they didn't need staves.

I kind of figured that they could do that, but mana is always an issue. And that Staves probably just amplify minor energy bolts channeled by the mage that require little energy... it's a way for them to fill in space between attacks.

You're welcome ^^

but...let's not get ahead of ourselves with playing gods

before you know it...we create the Geth...or the Reapers, let's not do THAT

but having magic in real life...that'd be awesome, then again an aspect of magic does exist in the real world (if you count alchemy to magic)

I tend to make my mage characters be the type who just use the tools at their disposal, they were born with magic so let's have them use it, they all tend to be unique with their gift as well :)

my more mundane characters are all pretty badass and powerful in their own right, and like everything, to each their own ^^

Same, but I also like the staves, some of their designs are quite pretty ^^

my current favorite designs are Spellfury (from Awakening), the Staff of Parthalan (DA:II) and the Staff of the Dragon (Inquisition)

which are also my canon staves for my mages

But yeah, shooting fireballs from your hands, or even better...imitating dragons, breathing fire would be pretty awesome and epic ^^

This is how I see it...

Origins: Human noble Warrior. There's a lot more personal story at sake with Arl Howe and being a noble, it doesn't make sense to be a Rogue.

Hawke: Rogue. You're not really a trained fighter so Warrior is ruled out and I feel the story is better when you have a family member that's an apostate Mage you're trying to protect.

Inquisition: Elf Mage. Lots of links to Elves in the storyline and being able to open up rifts with your hand makes more sense as a Mage.
