Often when making point A to point B, the group leaves me behind. Is it all skills or is there a secret sprint button i don't know? They really move faster than me. Not an issue of the host living in the arctic either.
Question about moving

Some characters naturally move faster than others. Also, you may be seeing residue effects from abilities and passives.
Also, don't know what system you are playing on, but there is a "run" function. On PS4 you have to press L1 while you are moving forward. It's not that much faster than walk, but better than nothing.

Unlike in the SP there is a Sprint button, check keybindings, it makes you move faster, as long as you don´t stop, jump, attack or run over some rubble
then you have to hit it again. It is used for attack cancel, too ![]()

You can use the sprint function in SP for your mount.

Actually, pressing down on the thumbstick is considered pressing the L3 button. Just thought you should know >_>

If you're on console, the same button used to activate the search function in SP allows you to move a bit faster in MP. Quite a few characters have passives that allow them to move faster, but most of them have something that triggers the passive to activate (one example is being near an enemy that has less than 10% health, while another example is getting a crit, though there are others). Stealth also applies a movement speed bonus and some weapons and abilities can increase your movement speed as well.

Ahem.... has played each DA game over 30 times completely through. Owns a DA fan site (see my signature). My profile here you can see a very, very nice commissioned art piece I had made, have written over 2,000 pages of DA fanfic, owns almost all the books/comics/toys (my fav is my plush nug), made the holiday recipes more than once, been in more than one heated argument with Gaider on old BSN.

Does forcing yourself to finally finish a playthrough so you don't have to do it again count?

There is something wrong when my strongest character can't get a kill just because it can not keep up with the rest of the group.
There is also something wrong when a lvl 6 alchemist can not get matched for a routine random for 30 mins and counting.

Promotions make you stronger, which means increasing your damage and your survivability. Gear is the deciding factor at low-promotions, which comes down to RNG, really. Trust me, we all started out rather weak, but given time and effort, you can get to a point where you'll be able to carry on Perilous, if need be. Just keep at it.
Threatening is the go-to difficulty for the vast majority of players in DA MP, so Routine isn't as populated as it used to be. Your region will also factor into it, due to how the matchmaking is set up. You may be better off friending some of the more experienced players on here, as they can carrying you through the harder difficulties to give you more experience faster, allowing you to promote quicker and get access to more powerful weapons (Ferelden Castle on Perilous can drop high-level unique dragon weapons which are fairly strong, especially for someone in your situation, but again, getting those comes down to RNG).

I tried threatning in private rooms. I mostly get one shot. I guess i would be stuck in Routine for a while still.

If you don´t want to be carried (what is boring to the death imo) then yes, we all did for a while but the Sprint function helps to speed it up ![]()

As I said, compared to the previous DA games, especially DA: Origins, I´m very disappointed. Well there are good parts I like but compared to MP I have less motivation to play SP. Dorian is cool, Solas makes me yawn when ever he opens his mouth, the MP Banters are more fun ^^

Been there - same result! DAMP is the first MP game I tried, and at the start I spent quite a bit of time soloing - and dying quickly. It was a good run if I got enough gold to buy some more health potions.
It helps a lot if you make friends with people who are willing to help newer players. HunterKipling has started a set of spreadsheets where you can give details to get in touch with others in this thread. In fact, HunterKipling is very good at helping new players when they get into trouble. (He had a lot of practice with me.
)
Being in a group with stronger players should help you get better weapons and the materials you need to created better armour. That helps a lot when it comes to surviving and contributing more in a game. IMPORTANT - if you don't already know this - don't use cotton for unlocking armour or anything else apart from making "heal on kill" add-ons for weapons. Cotton is rare, though there is a way to convert other materials into cloth, but I've never used it.
I only play sporadically these days, and at odd ours GMT time, but feel free to send a friends request (same ID on Origin) if you want. Jump in on any game, but you may need a sense of humour if I'm having a silly spell.
