I accidentally got locked into a Kaidan romance in ME1 because I was nice to him early on. Even though I turned him down before Ilos, apparently that still counts as Romanced. I'm trying to edit the import in Gibbed, but his picture is in the cabin on the Normandy.

I've unchecked the box for Romancing Kaidan and set his romance value to 3. Does the picture actually mean anything if those flags are set? Or is there something I'm missing?

Are you using the modified Save Editor ?
It has an additional table for ME1 plot flags, and a file compare feature.

I didn't know that there was a modified version, but I do now. And I also used it and it fixed it! Thank you!

You can shoot him, yes, and you can also sort of break up with him in the hospital, and I didn't want to do either. I wanted an unromanced Shepard going into ME2.

The modified save editor is very good - I've used it a few times to fix the game.

 

As for Kaidan, well.....  he umm, never made it to ME2.  He was a brave soldier, and did his duty.  It was only on you-tube when I was dealing with those endings (looking for where I went wrong) that I saw that Shepard could be a total d-bag.  He could also shoot Ash too.   I always thought "Why would I do that?"  Why would Shepard do that?
