She wants you to convince Lorik Quinn to testify against Anoleis, and because Anoleis is a dick, most people do it. When you really consider it though, you see how Anoleis is something of a straw-man (kind of like the dalatrass in ME3); emotionally manipulating you into making certain choices. Gianna wants you to help Noveria make more money and draw in more customers by getting Anoleis arrested; even though Noveria's very unethical "don't ask, don't tell" policy is precisely how Saren/Benezia were able create the threats like the rachni. So why would you want to help Noveria with their business ventures? They certainly don't want to help the spectres.
Why help Gianna?

It's all sketchy when you think about it. You can always just tell on the Hanar to Anoleis and get the pass that way, ignoring Gianna altogether.
I kind of like how it's all shades of grey and not black and white, it makes it more interesting to role play and offers many ways of resolving it.

They shoot each other? Doesn´t he comitt suicide in desperation since its obvious he wont be able to get away with both corruption and murder?
Well, the best thing about helping her (at least if your shepard is male) is the sweet kiss in ME2.

yeah that's kind of why I help her as well as she is kind of the local police officer and she wsa sent to Anoleis by the board to bring him down. As you rcolleagues say it's sometimes best to help the local law enforcement. Also to be fair Anoleis was breaking the rules those that do deserve to be punished at least in my current Shep's eyes.

Hi AG. I especially enjoyed the little aspect that Gianna offered to buy ("owes") Shepard a beer when they next crossed paths, if Shepard helped her pin the evidence on Anoleis. When I saw her at Nos Astra, I was smiling that that little offer had been remembered and included in ME-2. Being a Paragon does have it's rewards, and I'm so glad this cute tiny detail was recognized and 'gifted forward' by the game writers. It's these kinds of little relationship items that are remembered and inserted into later episodes that make a story special. Several Star Trek writers also did this from time to time.
That the garage pass on Noveria could be obtained in several ways does make the role-play options even better. I had to go with helping Gianna; I was never going to help a smuggler and do a favor for Anoleis in order to get the garage pass; it's part of my do-the-right-thing attitude. Let's hope there are a number of role-play options when completing little tasks in ME: Andromeda too.

I help her because she's human. If I don't help her its because I turned in the Hanar to get the pass quicker. I did have her and the salarian shoot each other a couple of times.

That is my favorite part of ME1. You can resolve the situation in so many ways. And it´s also a very rare instance of a side-mission having actual effect on the main mission (with the Hanar asking you to smugle an item). And you can also listen to the people on Noveria reacting to the end of the mission, as well as Capt Matsuo.
If you´re in a hurry, you can simply denounce the hanar and be done with it. But if you want to take time and have fun enjoy the talks with the secretary and the turian.
How I solve the mission depends entirely on what kind of shepard I´m using. If he´s an opportunistic renegade, then he will sell the evidence to the director. If he loves chaos, he will take the item from the hanar, kill the krogan at the docking bay, give the evidence to the director and then expose hissecretary, so they can all die.
But if I´m playing a paragon then I always side with Giana. You get a sense of having acomplished a good deed, a funny arrest scene, a promisse, a beer... and if you´re male and continue to behave well towards giana in ME2, a kiss.

It offers so many varied solutions, it's great to try them all out with different Sheps. I hadn't thought of that, but yes, it is pretty cool that such a small thing as helping the Hanar can impact a bigger mission.

I've done that with both my Paragons, but it's fun to play around with the different consequences with my renegades. One of them refused to help her on Illium...she wasn't impressed. ![]()
I've had her and Anoleis kill each other too, but I reloaded...couldn't live with myself. I'll do it one day tho.
It would have been cool to catch up with her again in ME3, I also hope they do more missions with varied results and strategies in ME:A.

I like her popping up in ME2. Other than that.... since there's no ME3. Probably not going to bother with her at all.
Although I like the corporate espionage thing.

Not possible, unless one hacks the game in order to make Ilos available sooner.
But what is possible to do is to pick the item for the hanar, give it to the director in your first talk with him and obtain the garage pass. So you do not need to talk anything more with Giana nor interact with the turian.
This results in a continuity problem in ME2, since Giana will complain that you disrupted her investigation, even though you never knew that she was a spy sent by the board to oversee the salarian.

Yeah you talk to her at the security checkpoint.
What I really meant was that I didn't meet her in the bar or get the conversation about other ways to get the garage pass since I went to Opold straight away and then turned him in to Anoleis and I was done in Hanshan.

I think more people would just take Lorik's money if his credits actually held practical value. You can literally have 10 million credits before the game stops you from getting more, and you're going to care if Lorik gives you 750 credits instead of 500? No idea what Bioware was thinking with their money system in this game.
