I don't mind the crafting so much as the endlessly tedious - to me, at least - resource grind. If I never have to collect another chunk of Paragon's Lustre, or cutting of Elfroot, ever again, I'll be a happier person.

I have to agree it got a bit much at the end but I think the way around that is to have the player buy the resource and have it stored on the ship or something. That way all the tedium is avoided and everyone wins.

In favor of more customization, so you can tune their stats.  I wouldn't mind if it was something in between ME1 and DAI.

My primary request is just give them all actual armor of some sort (complete with helmets for environmental conditions unsuitable for exposed meatbag flesh). Distinctiveness or statstical effects or whatever else are all secondary to people not walking essentiallly naked into acid fog, chlorine based atmospheres or the vaccum of space in a setting that is supposed to take itself semi-seriously. I literally couldn't use all but 3 of the squadmates in ME2 on several missions, because to me it looked too stupid to have the rest doing so. Space lab coats, catsuits and trenchcoats are fine on the ship or shore leave, but not against bullets or in vaccum on a geth space station.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, In this series I liked ME3's setup with varied statistical bonuses for different squadmate armors the most, as opposed to sifting through ME1's garbage inventory and ME2's purely cosmetic setup. I haven't played DAI, but customizable pieces with stat effects not unlike the N7 Armor for squadmates sounds even better.

I prefer the ME1/DAO approach where we get total control over companion equipment and appearance.

This would be best.

You don't really like change, do you?

I'm for the whole Inquisition style blueprint armour and weapons system. But I love crafting in video games so sue me.

For me they went too far down the rabbit hole for weapon and armor crafting in Dragon Age: Inquisition, having multiple variations of each weapon type on top of having four tiers of weapons and then four tiers, while trying to find the best fade touched bonus just became a chore in a game that outside of the main plot felt like a chore.

The other thing that struck me odd about the crafting system in Inquisition is they had to completely different ones between the alchemy and blacksmithing.  What I liked about the alchemy was that it was expensive at times, but you only had to do it once.

I like control. If I'm playing the whole party (and if I'm choosing abilities and combat tactics, I am), then I want as much control over the squadmates as I have over the protagonist.

I miss fully party-based RPGs where I got to create all the characters.

Yeah I agree. I'd rather have too many options than not enough though. I'm probably going to catch a lot of flack for this but I dont care. I played an MMO a few years ago called Fallen Earth (I am neither suggesting Andromeda become an MMO or be turned into a post apocalyptic game) and the crafting in it was one of the best I have ever come across. They gave the player an immense amount of crafting options without overwhelming the player. I'm not suggesting they turn this into that, but I think both options are viable (for crafters and non)

Inquisitions biggest problem for me was that when you went to buy a new crafting plan or whatever, they never told you what tier of item you were buying until you had purchased it.

If they do do the iconic armors again, I just hope they are available to the protagonist as well rather than the protagonist getting the scraps.

None of the customization options, whether it be cosmetic like hair or things like armor and outfits, should be excluded from the main character.

DA:I way is best way. Several styles per companion, customizable stats and look, and personal outfit when off-duty.

They should wear the armour that the player gives them, but retain their own colour scheme and insignia.

I'd like that, I thought it was cool how their armor is based on/revolve off their main outfits.

I think for me I'd like a mixture of Inquisition and the ME trilogy.

I like the DA:I method of each character having their own look with the armour changing to fit that look.

For added customization, I'd also like to see the armour mods of ME1 make a return.

While I like the idea of my squad having matching armor, I prefer squadmates having unique looks. And I lean toward the Inquisition system, where there are a variety of different but cohesive designs for each character and we can change the colors of the various elements of the armors. In ME2 it was just palette swaps and in ME3 it was just palette swaps of armors from enemies and other companions, so ditch that system. Remember how ridiculous Kaidan looked in that giant Cerberus armor? No thank you.

I think a perfect system would be each squadmate having 3-4 unique and character-specific armor designs that we can comprehensively change the colors and sheen of(like with Shepard's armor in ME2/3) without having to buy them months after release, get them via pre-order, or unlock late in the game/after completing the story.

I agree with something akin to what DAI had; each member has a unique style so whatever armor you slap on them turns into their own individual page in vogue.

If they go the static armor route, though, I wouldn't complain if each 'upgrade' added or changed the color of something minor.

My issue with this was that the companion armors were better than the protagonist's armor. I fear that that would repeat itself for MEA.

Would you want the armor system to go back to ME 1 wear you can completely change everyone's look and then improve on that?

tumblr_mgc7htwjtp1qcbq9jo2_500.gif

Would you want it to stay like ME 2 and 3 where all the companions just how their default 'iconic' armor?

Or maybe something in between the two? All of your companion have default 'iconic' armor but then you could add/customize pieces of it in a way (shoulders, legs. etc.), kind of like with Shepard's armor in ME 2 and 3.

Though trying to find the best fade-touched material isn't something Bio forced you to do; it's something they allowed you to do.

Don't care much about crafting one way or the other.  It's nice to have, but would't want to be dependent on it.  And certainly not a RNG for getting rare materials.

But having a number of options on appearance is always a good thing.  I like uniforms to look like uniforms and armor to look like armor.  Others may not care so much.

Definitely want some sort of real customization for squadmates like they did in ME 1.  I wouldn't suprise if they went the DAI route and had a crafting system.  I would be more than fine with that.  But seriously OP did you really have to put Wrex in the Phoenix armor.  Wasn't the genophage enough?
