Yep, quint essential. That's for sure, then.

Not really essential. More of a bonus.

My first thought is that people need to accept that IT is not a canon thing. BioWare took that idea out back and shot it. Repeatedly.

That said I want ME:A to move ahead and be its own thing. I don't want it to get bogged down trying to fix or apologize for the mistakes of the past

The IT is also just plain stupid because it's fixes nothing. An injured Shepard wakes up in the battle of Earth and does what? That's not ending it's a bad cliffhanger and explains nothing on HOW Shepard and company stop the Reapers. Does Shepard somehow gets onto the Citadel and we get the same final debate with TIM and Anderson? Does Shepard turn the Crucible on and it wipes out the Reapers somehow and this allows Shepard and Anderson to survive and live happily ever after?

I have an idea of a way that BioWare could bring Shepard into the Andromeda Galaxy without wrecking the MET but as it stands right now it's a post-credit tease at the end and more a set-up for Mass Effect 5 or Mass Effect: Andromeda 2 or whatever BioWare would call it but it would be as controversial as the endings to Mass Effect 3 and honestly I don't think it's a good idea.

It's never a question of is it a good idea.

Is it a bad one?

Sure, why not? I honestly don't want ME to pull a dragon age and have a new pc every story.

And having to recreate your Hawke in DA:I with a completely different character customization, that sucked.

Yes. Terrible.

Then we'll burn it with hot oils and shank it with blunt knives.

Yes. Terrible.

Does it involve alternate realities, and Shepard is a reality hopper? Just hops into and out of different universes, therefore, will appear in ME:A because

"not done yet!"

Kai Leng is the one who hops through dimensions. Like he's right from a terrible cartoon show that lasted for two episodes before even the Japanese called it "a little excessive."
