Race specific spin-off games?

Since there seems to be a split between Dragon Age fans who demand multiple race selection, versus those disappointed by the lack of reactivity the game provides for said races (myself included), I propose my own personal dream scenario: Suppose instead of throwing out the baby with the bathwater, Bioware took the initial DA2 concept (single race with a more personal story) and did it right this time. A story that not only encompasses all the ways the world treats these races, but also all the good, evil, weird, and ordinary within them. These games would be spin-offs so that the main games could retain race selection and still be epic. If Bioware released these types of games, what would you want to see in them? Here are some of my wishlists:

Elves

First and foremost, the Elves need a homeland. Yeah, DA's oppressed Elves was an interesting subversion of the more popular Mary Sue variety, but even that is getting old. Forgetting historical examples like Arlathan and the Dales that the players never experienced,  within the context of modern Thedas it's still same story. Been there, done that. Creating an Elven state opens new avenues for both the developers and players. In that spirit of forging ahead, I personally would prefer this hypothetical nation not be a revived Dales. Then where would this new homeland come from you ask? I don't know, a new realm adjacent to the Crossroads, or maybe one of Flemythal or Solas' backup plans raises an island ;).

Here the Player Character is an Elf tasked with exploring and developing this new homeland. Along with Humans and Qunari who would destroy or control this nation, or Dwarves seeking profit, you must deal with Elves who want equality and acceptance, versus Elven supremacists that favor isolation and vengeance. You eventually support one side or the other, or somehow find another way B)

One thing I need to make clear: unlike some, I do not require that the story of the Elves getting a new homeland must be a Mega Happy Ending. I want Dragon Age to continue being a complex and mature franchise that is more often than not bittersweet. For every positive this new Elven nation gains, there should be equal and opposite reactions:

Side with the Intergrationists? More security but a gradual erosion of Elven identity.

Side with the Revolutionaries? More independence but more enemies, and all of your non-Elf friends and lovers are banished.

Compromise with an independent government that is open to the idea of non-Elf citizens? Risk constant internal power struggles and very few are actually happy.

Possible Companions: Dalish and City Elves with surprising twists, Elf blooded humans torn between both worlds, a nature spirit similar to the Lady of the Forest, an ancient Arlathani Elf that we know about from the beginning (though I would prefer one not from the Evanuris), a human Noble Bigot struggling to overcome old prejudices, Elven Qunari, a Dwarven Ranger...

More to come later...

I wouldn't be particularly interested in a game where we could only play as elves, and given that only 5% of PCs in Origins were dwarves, I can't see them ever making a dwarf-centric game. (We don't have the figure for Inquisition, but I would be surprised if it went much higher with four races instead of three.)

A game where you could only play as a Qunari - that is, a follower of the Qun, whatever race you were - could be pretty interesting.

Dwarves

The current head of a Noble family that became Surfacers to escape the Blight, your contacts give you the find of a lifetime: the location of an ancient thaig completely free of Darkspawn. Upon moving to secure the city, your mind is contacted by a Titan. Along with kicking off the main quest, this would give an option for players who only play mages. These revelations fire up the previous cold war between Orzimmar and Khal Sharok, where you can pick a side, broker peace, or ignore altogether. The game would also explore Surface Dwarves who see themselves as traditionalists versus moderates and radicals who hate their underground kin. Along with exploring the mysteries of the Titans, you would also encounter ancient spirits, Sha Brytol, Wardens, different kinds of freewill golems, Awakened Darkspawn, maybe even a sleeping Old God to decide it's fate.

Possible Companions: a true ubermench  Dwarf along the lines of Bhelen or Branka, a Surface Dwarf who idolizes Orzimmar but gets a lot wrong , another Titan touched Dwarf who may or may not be you opposite number, a Warden who's attempt to cure their Calling didn't quite go according to plan, a KHAL SHAROK DWARF, a completely different kind of golem (possible LI?), an Awakened Darkspawn...

Qunari

Originally growing up under the Qun in Seheron, your character was taken by Tal-Vashoth revolutionaries before your role could be determined. Because of this, there would be members of the Triumvirate who simply want you dead, versus those who would welcome you back with the proper "re-education". Having honed you skills in a lifetime of wandering, you eventually return to Seheron. While establishing yourself, you navigate the various factions of Qunari, rebel Fog Warriors, Tevinters and independants as you see fit. Eventually, you come across newly discovered texts of Koslun's that could potentially change everything about the Qunari's interpretation of the Qun. At one point during the game you would go undercover in PAR Vollen and live as a true Qunari, possibly joining for real (doing so would likely be a Non Standard Game Over ). While Koslun's lost texts would provide a lot of drama, the true main quest would revolve around what exactly happened to the Kossith, and why that matters right now .

Possible Companions:  Since most equate the Qun with communism, I would want a Qunari Ayn Rand B). Also, a pro Qun Arvaarad who discovers to their ironic horror, they are actually a mage . A Tamassran of divided loyalty might be nice, as a companion or advisor. others include Elven or Dwarf Ben Hassrath, Tevinter prisoners/defectors/mercenaries, Fog warriors, Rivani Seers, maybe a Dwarf who cracked gaatlok, an abomination that has embraced the Qun that you can't tell if it is a spirit or demon, a Reaver that's almost a Weredragon...

Spirits

You are a Spirit Of Life, one of the very few spirits capable of complex emotions and inspiring such in other Spirits and Demons. Now before anyone starts saying "special snowflake", this PC doesn't necessarily have any grand destiny; your quest is determine your own ultimate Purpose. Also, influencing other spirits is very tricky, especially if It goes against their nature. More often than not it does more harm than good, so you have to be careful. Plus, I can see this being potentially the one DA game that could support a Karma Meter to determine if you are more Spirit or Demon like.

In searching for the meaning of your existence, your travel the surreal, beautiful, nightmarish, and goofy landscapes of the Fade. I see this story evoking fond memories of Bioware's own Fade sequences and Jade Empire, as well as Eternal Dark: Sanity's Requiem, Psyconauts, and Planescape: Torment. Along with the various demons and spirits that can potentially oppose you, your main adversary would be Reflection, a spirit/demon who tries to counter your every move. At some point you could bond or possess someone, see being an abomination from the other end.

Possible Compaions: Aside from other Spirits (Duty, Curiousity, Fortitude, Love) or Demons (Pride, Desire, Terror, Sloth) or some like the neutral Memory, there could be various dreamers (maybe even a Somniari) or individuals who somehow got physically stuck in the Fade like Hawke/Stroud/Alistair/Loghain (but not those characters ;)).

Ok, more than likely my bad fan fiction won't amount to anything, but it was still fun to speculate . Just because Bioware might not have the time and resources to produce spin-off Dragon Age doesn't mean they couldn't license them to another company like Obsidian. So just for fun, what kind of race specific game would you want?

Nice idea but while they are working on these race specific spinoffs what happens to the main game?    Even concentrating wholly on one game takes several years and interesting concepts eventually get ditched through lack of time.   I really want the next instalment of the main game.    I'd like to be able to play as an elf again but I'd settle for human if it helps get the wheels moving.

Incidentally, I would hope that part of the fall out from stopping Solas would be that those elves who opposed him would be rewarded with better status within Thedas even if they don't get a wholly independent homeland.      I'm getting a bit tired of saving the world, being promised or engineering a better situation for the elves (whether Dalish or City) and then being informed down the line that it didn't work out.

That would be an instant no-buy for me. I couldn't roleplay if I were a true Qunari.

The spirit idea seems interesting. I doubt they'd make a full game out of it, but it could make for a cool DLC of some sort.

It's nice in theory, but you are essentially hoping that the fans by all of the games in order to sustain itself. But say no one buys the Qunari game or only buys the spirit one? Perhaps instead an Origins style prologue giving us a glimpse into the background of the race and to serve as an explanation of how and why they are involved in the story of the game. Perhaps a single episodic adventure like the Darkspan Chronicles or Leliana's Tale?

The numbers for Inquisition quarterly  was Human Rogue at the most at 18% the highest non-Human Race at that point was 4th most played Elf Warrior at 14% idk where Dwarf and Qunari were at this point but not in the top 5.

Spinoff GAMES are very unlikely. Spinoff DLC, such as Leliana's Song, are slightly more plausible.

I would welcome this far more than these diluted "try to be everything to everyone" main stories. Or "be a fantasy race, who acts like a human in every other way". I'd love an actual dwarven game or a Dalish clan doing their own artifact hunting/adventure. Or Tal-Vashoth struggling with their position, pulled by Qun and Tevinter on each side.

I realize a completely race specific Dragon Age game has little to no chance outside of maybe a Kickstarter backed spiritual successor, or *shudder * a DA MMORPG. Like I said, this is mostly just fun speculation and wish fulfillment. The best I can hope for from this is that maybe the devs will see how popular race locked content can be, and add more racial dialogues and quests.

I don't know what they realize. People still talk about DAO origins to this day with a lot of fondness (and a lot of their own projected creativity), and yet Bioware takes a Bethesda route now (prisoner messiah plopped out of the sky). Who asked for that exactly? This other stuff is their strength.
