DragonAgeKeep.com isn't working at all for me. It doesn't even show my characters or anything. I still have my old characters/savegames in the correct(?) directory username/My Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age (2) but I don't have the games installed anymore. Is there no way to just import my characters and/or savegames so that DragonAgeKeep reflects my choices? It's been years since I last played any of the games. I probably don't even remember half the choices I made.....

Sorry for the rant, but who came up with this nonsense? Sure, it's nice to have as an OPTION if you don't have your save games anymore but if you DO have them, what's the point in making people unable to import them? ;O

The Dragon Keep needs to sync with your game while you are logged in and in game. It does not scan your computer for your save files. There is good news though, although it is extra work, you can manually select all of your decisions. If they are all hidden, click on the right "import" panel and turn spoilers on. You will be able to see all the choices and create from scratch the world state that you want.

Here is some navigation help from google images:

As I said, it's been so long since I played the games, especially DA:Origins. I don't even remember half the stuff. I think it's ridiculous that there is no option to just manually import a character from files on your hard drive. Now I have to re-download and re-install the games which I'm never gonna play again, start them, enable character uploading, load an old save game and hope that DAKeep doesn't mess up the sync somehow.

Seriously though... how on earth did they think it's a good idea not to include a simple "upload your character from file" button in DAKeep? Jesus Christ...

For both DAO and DA2, the Keep ONLY records the basic facts about your character and nothing more: name, gender, race, origin, class, and an upload of your character's in-game portrait (basically a screencap, the same used in the game itself). The Keep does NOT import any decisions from those two games; you must select all of those by hand. Even if you had those two games installed, you wouldn't be able to import decisions anyway.

This was a purposeful decision because using save games to import became buggy and having to do bug fixes and patches for all the games is untenable; DAO and DA2, and now DAI are no longer in development. The DA Keep is a central location, managed by a single web team -- not a game dev team, although they work together -- that can be maintained by that team and was designed for DAI and beyond.
