For a moment there I'd thought you said - IBS. But you didn't - so those around you can relax.

OP: The element of surprise is evident in humour and drama. Humour alone have 20 categories. If you have not witnessed it until now in mass effect, chances are that you won't notice it, whilst even stumbling over it.

Lol IBS! True story, I had that for a minute from all the alcohol I drank after I came back stateside. Keto diet for 2 months, fixed. Now I eat whatever, whenever.

Oh, I don't know - it's actually surprising what you can create if you have practically nothing edible at home. I once did an excellent risotto with just apples and onions and some spices e.g.

Gulp. Usually apples invites for something nutty with risotto, like roasting it with Pecan or Walnut.

You still need natural SMG (glutamate) to strenghthen that taste, tho.

For Italian food that SMG occurs naturally in it's Tomatoes and Parmesan - but in the absence of those mentioned, how did you strenghten umami in your dish?
What's your surprise ?

Cool, but I can only approve fruit mixed with savory in Spanish food.  Or chutneys.   Apple, onion and spices?  Chutney.

Interesting - since Chutney is Indian by Origin (ID ;)), it's a mystery how it became part of Spanish food. Don't tell me Ibn Battuta had a hand in that also...

A good frying pan. And olive oil. And, btw, it's "parmeggiano" you barbarian.

As long as he washed and kept it clean - Ibn Battuta can use his yad all day to do the culinary magic, imo. But I guess it's the moors that brought it over.

Mushrooms would work for umami too although I'm not sure I'd go that route with an apple dish.

Mmm. you meant Parmigiano-Reggiano? I'm not sure that people outside Europe even know why it's called the King of Cheese.

Let it stay our small secret from Forbes Magazine and let them eat wood pulp called Parmesan, Cat. Otherwise there will be a market shortage and become even more expensive. We all know why we oppose TTIP.

And I thought Ibn was a Berber?

Yet another amateur saying 'hey professionals if you did your job like this you'd be awesome' thread.

Why do so many people think they are experts with no training or experience?

I clearly separated Spanish food and chutneys in the post - I think it was the Brits that brought Chutney to Europe though.  Nice to see people who know Ibn Battuta though, considering I had to explain who he was to friend of Arab descent just a few weeks ago.

Maitake could work.  It does very well in risotto, and is sometimes prepared with vinegar, mirin or even honey.

I learned about Ibn just 3 years ago , one weekend , in the Ibn Batutta mall in Dubai- they had a whole expedition of the man. I think, considering the Time that he lived in - that he must've been quite remarkable to achieve what he did.

''Executive Surprise technician!'' that's a cool name for a job! :-) I hope one day game developers would think about that...having surprise in a game is always refreshing, of course those ''EST'' should be well integrated in the process of creating a game....

I would really appreciated if during a firefight for example, the enamy or a teammate would act completely in a different way compared to the normal behaviour...of course it has to make sense.

Cheers!

I like your idea but it would have to be well executed.

Also I have mixed feelings about the dancing, there is no suprise there, but I wish "Frankie McDonald" well.

I liked the jumpscare events in Batman Arkham Knight. Although... not sure if they'd fit in with Mass Effect all of the time. In some missions, sure, especially the Asari monastery in ME3, but it wouldn't be right as a regular occurrence.

Maybe it'd work with a survival horror game set in the ME universe, which I'm still hoping for. :P

"STALKED BY BANSHEES

A Mass Effect story".

Make it a thing BioWare. A single Alliance soldier trapped inside an installation where humans are being processed to make another Reaper. You manage to escape, but are trapped inside, in the dark, alone. You have to deal with the first stages of Indoctrination which causes disturbing hallucinations, as well as trying to lose the Banshees which are constantly trying to find you along with other Reaper forces trying to stop you escaping.

But as the Reaper control over you grows... escape might not be such a good idea.

Starship Troopers had a "horror"-type spin-off (which they named 2 for some reason) and that went badly. 'Stalked by Banshees' would probably turn out badly, too. Good idea, though.

The name just needs work. :P

My alternate titles were Eradication or Transcendence.

But I think Stalked By Banshees gave more of an indication of what the game itself would be about. :P
