Wouldn't it be cool if we could add our own music on our Omni-Tool radio? Kinda like the Pipboy but the ability to add our own soundtracks via USB or whatever on the PC. You used Johnny Cash in your first trailer so why not just add him to Mass Effect: Andromeda!

Couldn't you just use an external device/program to run the music while you play?

By external device I was alluding to mp3 player, stereo or phone (for consoles) :)

But it would be a whole lot cooler if you could play your music on a vitural Omni-Tool radio device

I like the idea, but I do not think any game would ever let you do that. If that was the case games would not bother with soundtracks and paying the artist or whoever to use in game (Fallout, any sports game, etc).

Eh, I dunno. Music and general sound design is pretty key to creating atmosphere in games, and I don't think many developers would be willing to give that up. Besides, the PC versions of the GTA games all have built-in support for pretty much exactly what the OP's describing: you can fill a folder with your own MP3s, and one of the in-game radio stations will play them for you.

My point exactly.

I had no idea. The only time I game on my PC is for Crusader Kings 2 from time to time.

Exactly, getting all the licenses for the music would difficult, probably impossible. OP, depending on what platform you use you could just play your own music underneath the game; similar to what you can do with Spotify on PS4.

you'll be doing yourself a disservice by blocking out ME's soundtrack

I like the idea. There is no reason why the music would have to take the place of the written musical score. It could be used at very specific times in the game. For example, the music playing in your personal living space might be randomly chosen from your personal play list every time you enter the cabin. I am not sure if there are enough of such situations to warrant the expense of designing the game this way because it may be that the developers want to control most of the "feel" of the game, even when we are driving around in the Mako. I guess that would depend on how the game is structured. If it could avoid these problems I would be all for it.

Yes you can, but not directly through the console. Some headsets allow multiple inputs, allowing you to plug one end into your PC/phone/whatever and another end into your console, so you can still hear game audio. I believe Astro also sells their mixamp (which regardless of what you think of their products, is a very solid little box) individually, if you don't mind spending a little extra to accomplish this.
