Let's sere I'm rarely first or last on the scoreboard..is this bad or does it merely cement my rep as the scrubbiest of the scrubs

It depends how much of a difference it was between the rest of the team. If everyone has about equal scores, who did the most doesn't really matter and shows a pretty well balanced team. If however your score is two or three times lower than the rest than yes, that is very bad.
So, I just came back to playing ME and I really like the multi for ME3... And well I am a teamplayer... I don't care if i get assists I always freeze enemies put a little damage on them deactivate objectives and always escorts drones and stand in the hacking circle... But i'm always LAST PLACE... I don't really care as long as I get credits but does that mean i suck?

I like finishing first, because I feel I contribute that way. I couldn't play a support character like a Volus, not my style, I need to shoot stuff.
However, people play like they want to play. So long as someone is contributing his/her best, I don't see any problem with the score. If you keep hiding somewhere away from the action or keep charging head front into ennemy ranks and I use all my medigel to revive me after I revive you constantly, that's something else.

Volus are ridiculously good at offence.
I have a sort of a contract with cobra rockets manufacturers. I get commission from them for every rocket sold if I finish wave 10 in first place and motivate other teammates to spend some of their space credits to replenish their missile supplies when they run out of it in wave 11
