The text on the Vanguard Assault Mastery/Champion skills reads: Paragon/Renegade scores +20.00% (Rank 1), +40.00% (Rank 2), +70.00% (Rank 3), +100.00% (Rank 4, Champion).
My question is this: since these are listed as percentages (%s), the assumption is that ranking up Assault Mastery and evolving the skill into Champion gives you a greater bonus the later in the game you do this because you will have more Paragon or Renegade points for the calculation.
Example:
Paragon points: 50
Evolve to Champion: 50 * 1.00 [100%] + 50 [Starting Points] = 100
Paragon points: 200
Evolve to Champion: 200 * 1.00 [100%] + 200 [Starting Points] = 400
You can imagine this to be akin to evolving with a half bar and getting another half bar of Paragon, resulting in 1 full bar versus evolving with a full bar and theoretically getting another full bar of Paragon, resulting in 2 full bars.
Has anyone experimented with this in game to see how the % bonus works in actuality? Is it actually a percentage? Is it a misprint and a static number of points? What have the rest of you experienced and what do you think?

Would like to understand this myself as it confused me...
I didn't notice any visual/permanent boost to my stats/bar...but I wasn't watching very carefully!
Could it just be a permanent modifier to whatever your current stats are when the computer "rolls" for events that require a certain level of Paragon or Renegade, but without actually applying a permanent value increase to the stat itself IYSWIM?

It increases the number of points you have and gain by that percentage. When I hit Champion, for example, I noticed a decent sized jump in the bar.

This is indeed what happens.
I maxed out Assault Mastery and evolved it into Champion with just over 1 full Paragon bar and barely a blip of a Renegade bar. I ended up with roughly 2 1/4 Paragon bars and maybe 1/4 Renegade bar.
Conclusion: The later in the game you rank up your class power, the more benefit you gain in bonuses to your Paragon/Renegade scores.

I don't think it matters. It multiplies ALL points you get. so if you max it asap or at the end doesn't matter, your points are going to end up the same.FreeKnight81 wrote...
