I would guess around 40. Play around 10 per day on Friday and Saturday nights and sneak s a few in during the week.

Those speeds were unheard of in the 90s. My internet connection used to timeout (4hrs) and disconnect before I could download a standard (3-5mb) MP3 in those days. And I had the best you could get. It wasn't until ISDN(late 90s) that I could actually download stuff instead of just play text-based games.

A dialup connection was rated at 56kbps (kilobits per seconds) divide that by 8 to get the download speed in Kilo Bytes/sec that most browsers, download managers etc use as a standard unit to show speed in and you get 7 Kbytes/sec (dial-up speed). Multiply that by 60 (for seconds) and then by 20 (for minutes) and you get 8400 KiloBytes file size downloaded during that time. Now divide that by 1024 for kilobytes to megabytes conversion and you get a file size of 8.2 Megabyte. Usually people with crappy phone lines crappy PC hardware like you mentioned got less than 7 kilo bytes per second download speed so 20 minutes for an 8.8 mb mp3 file was pretty fast and considered a good speed in dialup era.

For me, there is no average, as it varies so much from one week to the next (usually due to work amount and whathaveyou). Sometimes it's 10 (depending on difficulty - I couldn't do 10 plats in one day) games a day for many days in a row, sometimes none for several days.

6255 games played

1477 days since Operation Resurgence -- the earliest evidence of my playing MP

7 days in a week

Roughly 29.6 games per week since I started playing

Because sometimes combining sarcasm and literalism can be fun.

(I'm probably close to my historic average over the last few weeks, as I've had a bit more time).

Dunno, never counted really, maybe 20-30, but no more than 40, 50 tops but would never go over 60 games for sure.

This week, none. Rocket league is like crack. I've been waiting for a game to draw me off of this one, that may be it. I want to figure out how to unlock the console and use the flycam for that game, but IDK if that's possible in unreal engine 4.

Also you never would get full speed on dialup. IP overhead in itself is like 5-8%. E.g. 56k modem nets you at best like 7KBps but averages more like 5-6.

I used to play every day back in the long long ago. These days I usually sit down to play 3 or 4 matches at a time about 2 or 3 times a week.

I remember getting average download rate around 6 to 6.5 KB/s back in the dial-up era.

I remember when 2kb/s was a good day (Yes, it was a 56k connection, Australia has ALWAYS been bad for internet)

And here goes my plan of applying for a job in EA Australia and moving over there. I think I would stay in the 3rd world country I am already in. I think I might decide on moving to Dubai. That should lower the ping to Europe by 100ms give or take.

Yeah, Australia is a bad choice. For many reasons I could list, however, I will keep it related with reinforcing how bad internet connections are. They are also costly, you pay not only for speed (which is always bad ANYWAY) of the connection, but for data use, the latter is often used as a trap to create insane bills. Which is why you get a prepaid internet, and glitch it once you run out of credits for infinite free internet (don't ask me how I know about this, just trust that it can be done).

Sounds similar to mobile phones 3G & so called 4G internet over here or maybe mobile internet is same every where regardless of location. IMO FTTH, cable and VDSL connections are much more stable compared to mobile "ripoff" internet.

Sometimes, mobile internet is all that is available in an area. Also, here, the landline based internet is 1mbps upload, so useless, if we didn't have mobile internet, we wouldn't be able to play ME3MP, at all. So call it "ripoff" internet if you like, but that's as accurate as calling all console gamers peasants.

I am not calling mobile internet ripoff because it's usually inferior or unstable compared to other wired internet. Main and probably only reason for calling it rip off is that mobile operators charge an absurd amount of money for their connections. They have very very little limit on the amount of data you can download and upload and costs an order of magnitude more if you use it as your only source of internet.

Ours is unlimited 50mbps (But we only get that in the early hours of the morning) 4G for €10/month (About $14US, iirc), so it luckily suffers from none of those points.

Oh, and as to "jitter" before some overly crusading member says anything, I've been running a lot of ping tests lately to see. Worst jitter I ever got was to west cost US at 4ms jitter, and that was once only. To Germany, it's usually 1ms jitter.  Checked a few other places as well, but they all fell between these two. Maybe we got lucky, maybe the home of Nokia actually knows how to make this stuff work, or maybe this is actually "bad" numbers are I just have no clue (most likely), though that sort of variance would be undetectable, imho.

Considering the price you pay for your internet package and the stability of your connection you should consider yourself lucky and your connection good. Jitter is the amount of variation in ping. So if it's less than 5ms then ping is pretty much stable and your online gaming experience shouldn't be bad. Other thing to look out for is packet loss. It shouldn't be more than 0% for a stable connection. You will need to enable java RE for that test in your browser. If it's around 10% or higher then yeah it will cause major major rubberbanding and all sort of lag related problems. BTW I am curious to know what pings folks in AU get when pinging servers in US and EU.

Can you post some pingtest results? You will get a like for them. Seriously ^_^

If I was still in Australia, I wouldn't be able to get ping test results, I swear it was not uncommon to get more than 50% packet loss (sounds crazy I know, but true).

If you still want to see what kind of Pingtests I get from Eastern Europe (I moved here a few years ago), I can.

I'd probably have to update java, since I'm strongly opposed to forced updates, so java is pretty much permenantly disabled for me because of that stupid update stuff.

Yes plz. If it's not too much trouble do post pings from EU to US, CA and AU. And dont worry about packet loss. You can do the tests without updating or enabling java. I am mainly interested in knowing values of pings and jitter. Thx in advance.

I would say it is somewhere between 0 to 5-ish. I obviously played a lot more back in the day, but today I really only play when I miss the game pretty badly.

I usually play about 1 game a day of Ping Pong, ever since we got a table at work.  Once in a while, I'll play a game of Gin Rummy, too, but the 3 friends I have who actually know how to play are serious cheaters.  I usually end up 3rd in score by the end of the night.  The only other game I ever play is heads up 7 up, but my kids cheat at that.

Hackers ruin the game.

Last time I played ME3MP was dreadfully painful.  It was like I was playing with my feet, and not in the pure-hearted fetish way either.
