Haha, don't fret, it's not like he's coming along. But you can't argue that Lance Henriksen's VO is not the worst way to manage the hand-over from the old trilogy to Andromeda. After all, Hackett is pretty much the only one, high enough up the food chain so he could be involved in the project and who cannot be dead or is indoctrinated.

Even if I like his VA, I had enough of this Alliance mastermind in ME3.

Oh, I'm sure gentle presence of Sovereign's core would warm up their sleep a bit.

I suspect it will start with a small series of a couple cutscenes showing the ship leaving the Milky Way and heading to Andromeda while giving a bit of background, either through narration and/or the Mass Effect text crawl ending with the title showing up on screen. Then it will show the ship arrive in Andromeda, go to a stasis chamber, go to a stasis pod and we see a person inside, and when their face dominates the screen the CC starts.

SETTING: Council chambers, shortly after the meeting with Shepard and Liara at the start of ME3.

TEVOS: There is one other matter I think we should discuss.

UDINA: You mean besides the Council abandoning Earth to the Reapers?

TEVOS: The truth is, the odds are against any of our species right now. We know what happened to the protheans, and we need to consider the possibility that this is a battle we cannot win.

VALERN: Everything we know about the Reapers suggests they aren't open to a negotiated settlement.

SPARATUS: Indeed. Saren tried, and we all know how that ended.

TEVOS: I'm not talking about a negotiated surrender. I'm talking about a backup plan - one that could save all our species from extinction if the worst comes to pass.

UDINA: Oh?

TEVOS: Asari high command's Science Division is planning to announce that they've designed the first spacecraft capable of sustaining long-term cryosleep. This was going to be the prelude to the recruitment of a volunteer asari science team for...well, for the first extra-galactic expedition.

VALERN: You mean...

TEVOS: Yes. I think we should consider repurposing the craft to house members of any species targeted by the Reapers. A single ship with stealth technology could leave the galaxy unnoticed and find a new home. Somewhere to rebuild where the Reapers would no longer be a threat.

SPARATUS: You make an announcement like that and you'll be telling everyone that the war is already lost. That the millions fighting and dying right now are throwing their lives away for nothing.

VALERN: I do not think she was suggesting making the announcement in public. Unless I am mistaken...?

TEVOS: No, you are correct. We keep this to ourselves, reach out to each species through back-channels and intelligence agencies. We assemble a crew quietly, and leave the political leaders out of it in case the Reapers target them for indoctrination.

UDINA: You refuse to help Earth, but you're willing to invest your resources in this?!

TEVOS: Would you rather risk humanity's complete extinction? See everything your species has built so utterly destroyed that no one will even know that you existed?

UDINA: Hmph.

SPARATUS: I hate to say it, but I agree. I'd gladly fight to the last man for the Turian Hierarchy...but I'd be lying if I said I thought our chances were good.

UDINA: Under the circumstances, I suppose there's no choice but to proceed.

VALERN: Let's start making the arrangements.

FADE TO BLACK, DISPLAY TEXT:

In the year 2186, humanity and the other spacefaring civilizations of the Milky Way came under attack by an ancient machine race bent on the genocide of all advanced organic species. Known only as the Reapers, the enemy brought overwhelming firepower and technological sophistication to bear, quickly inflicting devastating losses in a matter of days and forcing the galaxy's leaders to consider the possibility of impending extinction.

And so one spacecraft, its multispecies crew placed into cryosleep, was dispatched on a long and lonely journey that would leave everything they ever knew behind.

Its mission: The establishment of new homeworlds where the species of the Milky Way can rebuild and preserve their legacy.

Its destination: ANDROMEDA.

(The rest of the text fades as the Mass Effect logo appears above "ANDROMEDA," as a picture of the galaxy itself fades in from behind the title.)

It is probably a safe bet that the game will begin with the Ark departing the Milky Way, and probably an opening crawl or voice over that gives the background of the Reaper War for new players, who might not be familiar with the story of the first three games.

I could definitely see this, I'm sure some type of recap or voice over will be present in the intro.

Let's not forget Bioware might do something similar to the Keep for ME. The additional info on the trilogy, or at least part of it, might be served on that and not the intro of the game.

In either case, if they do this I hope the Reapers gave them what's coming to them. Then again Bioware said all named characters on the Citadel survive the events of ME3(Refuse not included).

Let me guess, they saw themselves as being essential to the voyage so hitched a ride. If so, I hope we can try them as war criminals.

I can't see a KEEP offering anything worthwhile, for a new game with new characters in a different galaxy.  Decision made in ME1-3 offer nothing for the colonists in Andromeda. They are now on their own.

Traditionalists may very well clamour for something linking the colonists back to Council Space or even to  the main characters from the Citadel/Alliance or main space faring races back home.  Any major link to the MW is an Albatross around the PC's neck.

Break free and let the new story unfold.

I don't understand, why is the council ordering this mission grounds to punish them?  They clearly don't run away, the Councillors are still there just before the Cerberus HQ mission.  It seems to me you are letting your dislike of the council lead you to create new reasons to dislike them.

Also, not a war crime, not even remotely.

Except I never disliked the Council. I save them every time in Mass Effect 1 and understand their position throughout the trilogy.

However, if the fabricated dialogue above comes to pass my opinion will change. They are supposed to care for those they represent, not throw them all away to save a few.

The usual music plays.

In....humanity discovered......the rest of the galaxy called it.......dark history.....one man....he fought......we ran to.....

The word Andromeda appears. The words MASS EFFECT fade in. The line goes through the letters as the cameras pans toward the Tempest.

Random first mission casualty to draw you in starts talking to Ryder.

Ryder asserts his authority.

Meets commanding officer who reinforces Ryders authority but gives it context within his rank.

Long and boring dialogue scene.

Tutorial.

Mission.

First random mission casualty guy dies.

I imagine something along the lines of:

-an exposition about our mission,

-some element speeds up our deployment time (reaper inbound?)

-our ship gets deployed - a very explosiony and clutchy scene

-enter the time warp - final scene is the horror of war and the destruction of our home -

-fade to black

-MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA

-Fin
