Hello Bsn!
This thread is a clear act of kindness with whom i invested my great intellect for the pursuing of the collective knowledge even if my warden is dead and buried into the Netherrealm.
Now that i got your attention hear me and perhaps your wardens will all be spared from a fate of dementia thanks to my efforts and tests made on my own copy of DAO. :wizard:

Whoa! You mean  your GW is no more a GW!

Yes! because is dead!
I never said it was a good cure.....
Ok finish with the jokes

My purpose was to try to find the cure that spared Fiona from dementia(they are under the green color!)
(though it could be argued that she was already stupid enough on her own to be able to properly suffer the calling .)

1)The Architect has nothing to do with it here it is way
The Architect operated through his magical amulets that accelerated the spread of the taint on all the Grey wardens that were with Fiona and none of them was cured, while FIona not only had the blight removed from her but also gained immunity since she repel the taint to the point that the joining doesn't affect her anymore. So we need to explain not only why she is cured but also why she repel the blight.

let us leave The Architect with his experiments he is doing well...

2)Secret potions

It was then when i found another interesting lead in the journal ehm novel about a certain mage named Remille.
An Orlesian mage and the First Enchanter of Kinloch Hold Circle of Magi in Ferelden.
King Maric agrees to accompany the Grey Wardens in order to find the Ortan Thaig. Remille gives to King Maric some rare potions which would allow him to resist the darkspawn corruption.

Seems pretty clear potion+dragon blood and Fiona inherited all of it! Oh is possible i guess one possible cure.
1504242-bubbling_potion.jpg
We need only to find these potions, but where is Remille?Oh Duncan killed him ...Oh Duncan he has never done something useful in his life.....
.
3)Enchanted items
There are several enchanted items that could have helped our buddy elf:

-The enchanted amulet
It had the effect to accelerate the taint so pretty much the opposite of what Fiona gained, one could argue that the curse was reversed somehow however i don't recall any instances in which the amulet upon her was influenced by some factor in fact she was weak and sick and it was getting worse until the end.
Someone argued that it was the Theirin blood who gave her the immunity combined with the Architect curse but i would dismiss that theory as well since Fiona always felt weak until removed that amulet, not to mention that Alistair isn't immune to the taint like his mother is(remember that Fiona is immune to the joining).

-The dagger
Duncan stole this weapon  it as stopped the curse on him and acted only upon him.Fiona has nothing to do with it.

I'm quite sure i'm forgetting something, wasn't another weapon present in this novel.....?
Oh! That sword Maric carried since the stolen throne!

Enchanted sword Maric sword

maric__s_blade_by_darla_illara-d34oh8d.j

What's to read on the fine print of this sword?
Runes glow along the length of this mighty blade which is made upon dragon bones and is actually able to repel the taint
Oh did i read correctly  ?
Is able to repel the taint! That's my slam dunk!
Wait a moment wasn't this sword also present in DAO?!Let's resurrect my warden for a while and test the theory to see if this Maric sword can remove the taint from my warden!
Uno, dos....tres and Nada... I'm still a Grey warden epic fail, mph legends made in Ferelden they are never true....

It was at this point that i realized to have been deceived  because this sword was a fake  !

Based on the novels, the runes on the blade glowed blue, but in-game they glow yellow. Furthermore, in the novels it is stated that the blade is made of dragonbone while in-game the blade is made of red steel, when obtained.

Where is the original then  ?I searched and searched........ then i found it!

King Maric's blade the anti-taint!
dragon_age__starfang_by_darla_illara.jpg

tumblr_lzgkduwsCn1qalfa7o1_500.png
Now it looks almost identical to the one that scumbag of Maric has in his hands!

A small inscription on the hilt reads simply "Katriel", but its meaning is unknown.   whoa it's  definitely the original!

I have only to search this sword in game and test it on my Zombie-warden! If it would become just a zombie then it means that i found the cure!  =]
I searched intels about the sword and then i found this:

"This longsword exists in the item database of the game, though it's  unobtainable via normal means.
Once, it may have been planned to be obtainable, but after the Return to Ostagar DLC was released, another version of King Maric's sword can be found which is named as Maric's Blade".

Oh look is not available in DAO because was substituted with the fake one by the developers!....Coincidence, coincidence?

Good job i lost my sword!

In theory you should be able to stop the taint if you change body like by using the anvil of the void, that's extreme but it works i guess a dwarf warden may chose that path.

The cure is probably dragons. If you kill enough dragons in DA:I you get a "research dragons" war table operation. If you choose Leliana or Josephine for that you learn that dragons are resistant to the taint.

Also, silverite/cleansing runes. In DA:O silverite runes on armor protected you from darkspawn damage, and on weapons they did more damage to darkspawn. Cleansing runes in DA:I did the same thing with weapon damage. So there is definitely magic that focuses on fighting the taint.

Finally, blood magic/alchemy. Avernus in DA:O kept the taint at bay for a hundred years, even though Wardens only live at most 30 after the Joining. I assume he used the taint to sustain himself as well, he was barricaded in his tower by demons, it didn't look like he had much in the way of food or provisions.

Those are all interesting pieces and i think that the GW should have been able to figure those things centuries ago but i'm not really sure of what they do in the free time...

If dragons are resistant to the taint, why are there Archdemons?

Archdemons aren't actual dragons, they just take the form of dragons. For example all winged dragons are female, and yet the archdemons are all male.

Plus being resistant to the taint doesn't make you immune to the taint. Grey Wardens are resistant to the taint, but they still eventually fall to it.

Where is that written?

The official lore states Archdemons are dragons slumbering in their underground prisons which are found by darkspawn and tainted through contact.

Razikale was confirmed female on JoH, so I guess that they are another kind of Dragons.

Well they can't be the Evanuris since there is only one female old god.

World of Thedas is where it is written that the Old Gods are male. Well, other than Razikale apparently.

The lore ingame and in the lore-filled special edition of the DAO strategy guide states that the Old Gods were fade entities that once brought into the mortal realm took the form of dragons.

The lore and WoG tell us that High Dragons, the dragons with wings, are all female. Male dragons in Dragon Age are the wingless Drakes.

The war table missions in DAI take care to point out that resistance isn't immunity.

I'll have to go check this lore-filled strategy guide, then, because so far, I'd never heard of the Archdemons being Fade entities.
