The only part of the game i hate is the Orlesian Ball. Who is the best crew to take to the ball. I have never taken Sera, Bull, Blackwell or Cole.

Sera has an extra sidequest there, it requires you to find some caches, which boost her approval and contain random loot. The rest of the companions do not alter the quest in any way, so you are free to take whoever you like. If you want to stay true to the lore, then an Inquisitor would most likely take Vivienne because of her knowledge of orlesian politics and the game.

As Taki17 said above, it's mostly down to the people you want to take, rather than a clear better selection. You can just go with your regular crew, assuming you have one.
My general idea is basically to have a party that will impress, or at least interest, the Orlesians in attendance. Even though she's not a part of my regular crew, I usually take Vivienne because of her character's background. I also take Dorian, since he's a noble Tevinter altus and is used to such functions (although I'd take him regardless; he's my LI, go-to mage, and I bring him everywhere). I also bring along Cassandra as another noble (even though she prefers to disassociate herself from that aspect of her life), as well as the right hand of the former Divine.
I brought Sera along in place of Vivienne for the first time in a recent play and I viewed that as planning ahead in attempting to make use of her experience with servants and "little people" as a Red Jenny.

so taking unusual suspects wont cost you points. I usually take Dorian, Cassandra and Varric but I will mix it up this time and take Sera for sure

Are you going to fight the Grand Duchess or not? If you are, take a crew that does best against a bunch of assassins and an archer. A Champion, like Blackwall, is really good in that fight. Other archers as well. The only part of the game i hate is the Orlesian Ball. Who is the best crew to take to the ball. I have never taken Sera, Bull, Blackwell or Cole.
Cass and at least one mage is good for the rift battle.
Sera plays a prank during the introductions to the Empress. Worth having her along at least once just for that.

Hm, I think Wicked Eyes and Wicked Minds is a tour de force and basically one of the best crafted quests Bethesda has ever done.

I agree that the quest is very nice and well built even if i never happened to find all secrets and coins, not even getting close to that, and i way too often get lost in the palace when going to the gardens ![]()
Sera is fun to have around and very good in the fight with Florianne, his hidden caches of treasure arent worth much and i usually run out of space in the backpack, Dorian has a few good lines too, the elven servant Solas too even if from the opposite perspective; obviously Vivienne is at home in the game, never brought with me the Bull or Cole
I always go for the fight with Florianne not for the loot but ebcause it's too much fun having to judge his remains later at the castle.

Sorry, I meant Bioware of course. Just updating Fallout 4, so I had that in mind. I also always go for fighting Florienne as it's one of my favorite boss fights in the game. And I've done the quest 8-10 times and have still not found all coins and secrets. ![]()
Anyway, this is OT. I always have the same team so not much help on differences regarding that.

I like Vivienne for the extra approval on meeting the Empress if I am not playing a human non mage. I like Doian for his comments, Cassandra for her introductions, Bull for his take on the Ball if asked, Cullen (always there) for his reaction to being flirted with by nobles. Varric and Cole hide so don't like taking them, Sera I find to annoying to take anywhere, even if I do rectuit her. Solas is okay, but nothing Special at the ball. Blackwall, depends but, taking him and listening to a conversation her has with someone else at the ball is interesting, and should raise suspicion if you don't already know who he really is.
You can't complete ALL side quests, too many require Hallas to open doors and, you have to choose which you open, can't open them all.

What happens if you don't bring your LI with you. Would anyone show up to dance with you at the end? Just wondering.

Sorry but can I ask another question about the ball?

No dance. Josephine comes out to the terrace to talk.
