Do ALL their loyalty quests
make sure you make them happy in the quests and cutscenes
Upgrade ship stuff (other stuff good too but not nessisary for everyone to live)
Move fast when releasing the ducts
Pick the best of the best for the situation

(Legion for the gates at the start, why? because he's 1000 geth in one, super hacking, flexable, and he is Legion)
(Samara for the shield - Stable and powerful Biotic) Don't take long, kill fast
(Michael jackson(jk, HE HE!) for leading the other team
(Vyeen or Wrex for escorting, need a tough bastard to protect several wimps)

I honestly belive theres a hidden timer on the events before final boss.

But this is just my opinion, I'm sure Jack is good at the Biotic shield part, but she's crazy and unstable


Side quests like helping Liara hope nothing.

I did everything you said to do before going on the suicide mission. Once on there I made a couple different choices and everyone survived.

I had.....
Legion do the gates since he was a super hacker
Samara do the shield cause of her pro biotics
had Miranda lead the blue team (the first time), I had Garrus lead it the second time when we split up again.
Jacob lead the people back to the ship

What do you mean a hidden timer? Like if you don't get to there in time people will start dying who are holding back the collectors?

I didn't have loyality with Miranda and everyone still lived. I also had a completely different combination of characters doing things.

The way I saw it was as long as I had someone with loyalty leading he side-parties, going through the duct, and holding the shield that I'd be fine. By the way, Subject Zero is shown doing the final blast after the
biotic shield in the launch trailer, so she's perfectly capable of doing it.

I used Legion to hack the door but he died which is annoying as he is the coolest squad member. he was Loyal. Any ideas what went wrong?

I had everyone's loyalty.

I upgraded near everything.

I chose among the recommended for each role in the final mission.



And still either Tali or Legion died. Is it because I took too long to use the Omega-4 Relay after the crew was kidnapped? I really want to know.
