Edit: this forum is for violent, 18+ games and it ***'s out bad words? Pathetic.

It is rather odd when you look at the current flagship series, both Dragon Age and Mass Effect, but keep in mind that this forum is also still for the older BioWare games as well as the ongoing series, even though they have all been relegated to the legacy area. Sonic Chronicles is rated E, and Jade Empire is the only one of the games in that area that's rated M -- the rest are rated T. As weird as it is in the DA and ME areas to not be able to use words that appear in game, the filter is forum-wide, and as such it needs to work for those other games as well.

I never cheat on my first play-through but after a couple of them, I usually start adding cheats and interchange them with new ones. I did it for DAO and DAII. I must say that, since I only played DAI once and I disliked it so much, I didn't even give myself the chance to look for cheats, which I suspect are mostly cosmetic because of the infamous Frostbite engine.

I also use reading guides/walkthrough

As an example, I'm currently playing DAII and I have installed a huge amount of cheats. It's difficult to put them all together because I also make changes throughout the same playthrough, Like using different armors for the companions in different acts or make Carver grow a bit older throughout the years, from  Act1 to Act3. For DAII there is also a chance to add a 4th companion or just bring a different 3rd one than the options that the vanilla game gives you (there are about 60 different choices for alternative companions, from Salit, to Cassandra, to The Arishock, to High Dragons).

I also change some of the textures of Kirkwall neighborhoods.

The modd below, that says Andres, gives him a very effeminate manners and walking/running. It was muy personal revenge for having to endure his endless whining and ridiculous hostility towards the rest of my companions. lol

Only to change the character appearances which isn't a cheat in DAI and DAII is the mirror of the emporium.

Inquisition was the first one that made me cheat for more gold..

I find it utterly ludicrous that the head of the powerful Inquisition is so cash-strapped throughout the entire game and only gets dribs and drabs of it when he travels Thedas.

YES

I use console commands and I cannot lie. Because playing the same game in the same, old way is just too frustrating.

Yes, I cheat in every way humanly possibly in every game, because f&ck wasting time trying to do puzzles and jerking off the game devs and their need to make things complicated when I'm only there for the story and the characters. Does that help?

When I was younger - like, eleven or twelve young - I used to cheat at Neverwinter Nights to level my character up, give her all of the spells, instakill things, and teleport. Same with NWN2, though mainly just the "always surviving" cheats because I died, like, a LOT.

Never cheated with Mass Effect - however, I haven't even finished the first game, so there's room yet! - and the most I've done with DA is install those "turn spiders into" mod. But I've learned from experience, as it were, that cheating on a first play through takes away from the experience.

Yup, was specced wrong and had brought the "wrong" companions in my first meeting with Hakkon Wintersbreath (NM). Was too lazy to replay all of that, so I looked up a trainer and used it to be able to heal the party from time to time during the (long) fight.

Next time, when I was much better prepared, the fight was much simpler even though I had most trials on as well.

I *always* use paper and online guides, which is a form of cheating.  As far as gameplay cheats, I will use casual mode if I don't feel like struggling through a hard battle or on subsequent run-throughs when I'm more interested in just seeing the story.  I also have a low tolerance for frustration and don't like repeating fights more than a couple of times.  (I killed one dragon on Normal in DA:I and then every other one in every playthrough on casual.)  I've used godmode type cheats in other games before, but it always starts to quickly seem pointless to play at all and usually sucks all the life out of the game.

I never use mods with BioWare games.  One, because I'm always worried about breaking the game and losing hours of playtime.  But I also really want to experience BioWare games as they were designed, warts and all.  I understand people can use mods to customize their experience, which is great if that works for you.  I've just never been interested in doing that (no matter how badly my male Warden wanted to romance Alistair).

Yes.  I cheated (BG1) by warping in the Texts that raised attribute stats (all the way to 18 each).  ME 1 adds talent points to Shepard (geez! War hero and no skills?!).  And various other games.

Usually on a second run. or later.

Quite a handsome couple.  If only DAI elves could look this good.

And yes I cheat after the first run.  I use Ardant Blossom Store and a couple of mods giving you all schematics from main game to Trespasser.  Thus I can equip my people in tier 4 right after going to Val Royaux the first time.  Much faster runs through the First Act.

As a matter of fact I always use mods in any game that supports them.  I had close to 300 in Skyrim, several dozen in DAO, a few in DA2 (only played once), and I never played Mass Effect past the prologue of the first game (too 'shooter-y' for me).

I don't recall using mods back in BG2, Icewindale or NWN days - but then again they were releasing complete games then.

You do know that The Golden Nug gives you that right away, right? You don't even have to go to Val Royeaux, can start making those T4 stuff as soon as you get to Haven (although the only material available is T1).

I go to Val Royaux to get the mats of course - I have to save - repatch - reload - 4-5 times until I get all the herbs, the creature items for the runs and the materials for armor & weapons.

For me using paper and online guides is not a cheat so in that case you are in the clear  ;)

Yeah I don't mind it when a game is challenging but sometimes it just gets a little crazy and cheats are needed xD

yeah those aer the only areas in games when I do cheat tbh but I tend to only do it to the point where it becomes playable for me.

sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

Its my game, its single player, and I like playing it the way I like. I play games for fun, having my Arse handed to me 500 time just to be able to say I beat the game, always sounds like to me the game beat me.

as a rule I do not normally cheat on the first play through, but after that, no hold's bared.

Nope. Wouldn't see the point. Combat is, like 60% of your playtime at least in a Bioware game. Where's the fun if you just strip all the difficulty out of it?

If it's too hard, I will drop the difficulty level. And I do use mods to fix bugs or aesthetic issues. Other than that, the challenge is the fun.

I don't.

But if I could, I would.
