Hi All, Hopefully someone can help...

I'm running windows Vista 32bit Ultimate (upgradint to 64bit windows 7 ultimate on the weekend)
have core 2 extreme 2.8GHz Processor, i'm not running it overclocked atm but could
have 4GB of RAM
and 2 8800GT Graphics Cards 512mb Ram each
Physx Card also.

when I click 'play' the game gives me the little splash image of morrigan and whatnot but freezes my entire system there. Can't click anywhere, can't CtrlAltDel or anything...

I have UAC off before anyone asks.
Running the latest Nvidia drivers for my card.

Same problem here... Vista 32 sp 2, Nvidia 8700MGT, all drivers up to date.  Went on EA support 48 hours ago, and have not heard a thing despite their claim to get back to me within 24 hours...

hmmm well I did the install to 7 and it now works totally fine.... I suspect it was an issue with another program I had installe. Hopefully not SQL server or Visual Studio 2008 as I need those for my degree....

Hello, anyone else have a solution besides upgrading. I am running pretty much the same configuration as Blind Hamster, it is crazy. Thanks.

Same issue - did all solutions I could find (UAC and Content updater). Turned-off McAfee and set exclusion for Windows firewall. Using Vista Home Premium and Service Pak 2. Anyone have any ideas?

If what I am about to write has been commented on already, I'll come back and edit this.  I've not previously read this thread, since it didn't seem to me that I would have anything useful to contribute.

EA is not going to answer queries such as what Van Doorn's involved, which is his / her laptop, since no laptops are supported for any games by any game developers / distributors.  They'l l mostly just ignore those requests for support on "unsupported" (obviously) hardware.
