using the Keep here as a starting point seems useless as there is no good/quick way out after it's been captured. Am I missing a path somewhere?

Go down the stairs opposite of where you put up the Inquisition flag. Go all the way down to the pillar with the candles. At the pillar, take the stairs to the right. Go straight head until you enter a courtyard with two wolves. Go in front of them and turn your back at them. (There is a tranquil standing by the stand to the left which has some interesting banter if you are interested.).
Go down the stairs in front of you, through either of the arches and into the courtyard. Go straight through the courtyard and take the stairs down in the left corner. Once you're at the bottom of the stairs, walk a bit forwards and take the first stairs on your left and go down, past the Hart statue. Enter the archway in front of the Hart statue, follow the tunnel to the end. And you have escaped the Suledin Keep.
(I think this is the quickest route.)
But personally I prefer the Tower camp as a starting point, unless I want to talk to my good buddy the Baron or craft some armor. (And usually it's quicker to fast travel to the Tower Camp and continue on from there.)

yeah, I know how to get out that way. Thats the way that makes the Keep useless as a starting point. was hoping there was a shortcut somewhere that got you outside closer to where you get dropped when loading in.

Yeah after you captuer Suledin keep evreything else is just the other side of Judicael's crossing so your best going to the camp near there for anything else.

To the mines then? You're way quicker getting there from the Tower Camp.
The keep is more for crafting armor, restocking potions and selling the useless junk you have in your inventory before you go to shout at dragons.
I suppose you could also try glitching through the fence. You need to have atleast one companion with you.
Go to the armor crafting station, and summon your mount. Get on the mount and shove it between the crafting station and the fencing, preferably so the mount is standing on top of the fence. The fence has to be to the left of your character. Once the mount is standing on the fence, dismount and try to keep moving in the direction of the fence. If you are lucky you land past the wall and get tossed down the wall, landing on a stone ledge.
Then walk your character to the wall on your left if you are turning your back to the wall. Staying close to the wall, let your character drop to the ledge below. Keep rubbing the character to the wall and dropping on the ledges below until you hit an invisible wall. Your companions should appear on the ground below, switch to them and you're in the mine.

It's not intended as a starting point. It has a Fast Travel point so you can zap in, do some business, then you are expected to Fast Travel to where you really want to be.
All three of the keeps are set up this way.

I'm still in the middle of my first playthrough. I tend to look at the map, figure out where I need to be then travel to the nearest camp/fast travel spot to that point. Guess that isn't really the best way.

If you remove "fast travel spot" and stick with camps, that works just fine.I'm still in the middle of my first playthrough. I tend to look at the map, figure out where I need to be then travel to the nearest camp/fast travel spot to that point. Guess that isn't really the best way.
