So I see a lot of people who seem to be gravitating towards the ability to play dark side of KOTOR but was wondering what other people liked or didn't like about the game.

Personally, I thought the way the quests and zones were designed close together could make it feel somewhat small but also aided in the ability to really get through it and I thought it was nice to have a directional sense and not an RPG that kind of leaves you stranded.

I also liked the OST a lot if I recall there was a lot of Jeremy Soule stuff which I posted around here before.

I also have to say the final battle was extremely epic, even though it wasn't really super challenging the next time arounds it really did sort of stick with me.

Haha thanks anyway! Honestly it's been awhile for me as well but just for the fun of it I started watching videos and reading about stuff and a lot of it jogged my memory I forgot how expansive the game could be, but yeah no problem at least it's a bit less empty in here

I can only say that i have very good memories from both of the games and there are some other stuff that i remember quite well ( like the light and the dark side of the force ) but this topic was not one off those memories  :(

Hm, not quite sure I get you, but well no pressure or anything,  ;)  I'm thinking of digging back into more of it and coming up with stuff that comes up but we'll see.

KotOR 1:

The final battle was good, I agree.

I really enjoyed the chats with all the different crew members and getting to know them better.

Tatooine.  I felt like I could see Ben and Luke there much later.  I always wanted to leave some graffiti like, "Luke and Ben ROCK!"

KotOR2:

Rebuilding the Jedi order from my crewmates.  I loved that part of the game.

Naar Shadda.  What a cesspool and I loved it!

Love Dantooine, Korriban and Onderon 'cause they remind me of the Tales of The Jedi comics.

Oh I don't know I was probably just tired or something lol!

Anyway, I'm going to second Dantooine I really liked that zone and it stuck with me long after I finished the game.

It's too bad it felt like SWTOR didn't really capture that, I think it did intermittently in some zones but not like the original KOTOR.

KotOR is the first RPG I ever played so it holds a special place with me.

I loved the environments of Kashyyyk, Dantooine and Manaan (even if I hate the quests on Manaan) I like the romance with Carth (and wish the one with Juhani was still there in it's entirety). I like the characters (especially Juhani, Carth, and Jolee). Korriban is my favorite planet and I know this is because of all the history there.

(I'm going to use "she" for convience sake here.)

I love the character of the Exile in KotOR II. I loved the dialogue of this game so many roleplay options. The Exile is an interesting character. I loved that I could roleplay her as slightly battered and broken character and that she tried to do the right thing and ended up losing everything she had.

I loved the character of Bao-Dur as well and the fact that you essentially rebuilt the Jedi order with your companions.

Yep that's the one. I love how tall the trees are, how gloomy dark it is on the forest floor, and the fact that you meet Jolee there too.

Yes the trees are extremely tall i remember and wasn't there some kind of ancient device where you have to answer some questions ?

Yes, it's how you get the Star Map open. I loved it because Jolee was kinda put out that you opened it so quickly when he had spent decades trying to get it open.  :D

Remember that first "elevator" ride down to the floor of the forest?  While it took awhile, I enjoyed the scenery immensely :)

Yeah the star map i do remember the star map and when you get the wrong answer you were attacked by some ancient enemies quite tough if i remember correctly. Especially the ones in another cave i do not remember which planet though. But i do not remember that scene with Jolee and that i open the star map so quickly maybe i did not have Jolee with me at that time but i am not sure about that either though again long time ago.

Yes that i do remember and that it took a while ( that was quite impressive how tall the trees were ) to get down to the forest floor yeah that was a very nice cutscene maybe it is because i love trees that i remember that quite clearly.

You're attacked by some droids, which if you have destroy droid makes short work of them. You're probably thinking of the terentateks on Korriban. They are tough, especially when you have to fight two of them by yourself. You have to have Jolee with you on Kashyyyk , because he's the one that shows you where the Star Map is. I just meant that Jolee spent decades trying to get the Star Map to open, but the PC got it open within minutes. So Jolee has a "What?!" moment.  Of course that because of who the PC is.

Yes i do remember those droids and true they were not that difficult to defeat. Maybe i do not know if it was on Korriban or another planet but you could be right though ( you probably are ) what i do remember is that it was in some sort of ancient building/cave from the outside it looked like a cave i think and from the inside it looked like an ancient building and there were two of them one left and one to the right. And you say that Jolee is needed for that mission and now that you mention that i do remember a blue doorway that only he can open am i remembering that correctly ? Sorry but that part is kind of a blur when you say that he spent decades to open the Star Map and that "what" moment nope again a blur.

It probably is Korriban that you're thinking of, because I don't remember anywhere like that on Kashyyyk in KotOR. I do remember a cave like that on Korriban in KotOR II though? The tomb of Ludo Kresh? Maybe that's the one you're thinking of?

Yep, Jolee helps you get past the shield door so you can gain access to the Star Map.

Eh, I played KotOR so many times when it first came out that I remember details like that even a decade later.

KOTOR & KOTOR SL are I think probably two of my favorite RPG. And also the most memorable RPG I have ever played.

I truly love ME trilogy, but even though ME trilogy is graphics wise much improved, and is a great star saga. It is not star wars LOL !

There were moments in KOTOR 1 that I thought were more mind blowing than star war's " Luke I am your Father " . I am speaking of the Revan revelation, in KOTOR 1, but there were also some interesting Twists in KOTOR 2 (SL) which I found really great.

It is hard to truly pin down just which one I like best, one or two, but when this mod TSLRCM is added to KOTOR 2, I would have to say that KOTOR 2 out shines KOTOR 1 in my Opinion, but I love them both very much.

KOTOR 2 with the TSLRCM Mod finally does allow you to train any and all of your companions to be Jedi Knights, and that is really neat, it also adds a planet that was intended to be in the Original game, but Obsidian was rushed, and many things were left in the game, but never finished TSLRCM fixes those unfinished parts the droid factory, the extra planet, and many more. http://www.moddb.com...tent-mod-tslrcm

These were two games that gave me my first experience with Gibb editor, and I have loved every Gibb creation sense then, and consider them to be extensions to any game that a Gibb editor has been made for, they truly allow you to see many parts of game that you may never see in a normal play through.

My main use of Gibb edito in the KOTOR games was to see the different Romance options which when these were released was a rather new thing in Games, having the ability to Woo one of your digital companions was a really sweet addition to my game play, and it was done very nicely in both games.

Anyway I saw your Post, and I just had to give my two cents on these two wonderful even by today's standards games.

And i also remember someone or something in the middle a guide or something but again a bit blurry that memory.

Okay then that memory was correct.

Oh i played KotOR one and two quite a few times myself but i have played quite a lot of games in the last decade and maybe your memory about games is just better then mine.
