Eh, characters like Tali in ME were practically walking codex, though I think in every ME game there are some pro and cons we can find about characters.

The part on the asari, I agree it's not fair, regardless of the opinion one might have about the asari.

Keep in mind, ME1 came out awhile ago, it is hardly fair to judge it in comparison to industry standards of 2016.

Regarding the Asari, I don't see why a game developer catering to the big majority of its audience is unfair. That's just business strategy.

I'm actuallly referring to my thoughts when I played. Other characters weren't as...'codexy' as Tali.

I think i didn't explain myself well. I meant it's unfair to say it was catering to the wrong audience, meaning they should've made something to cater to the 'right one'. I was criticizing her phrase.

She didn't actually write this, that's my sarcastic interpretation of what she wrote.

She used the words "blue-space-babes" IIRC, and in context of her gushing about "people of color everywhere" in ME2 / 3,

and other, well, things that are usually labeled under "SJW" the intention is rather clear.

I don't begrudge anyone for finding things that they like in games, but it is telling that those things comprise most of her ME related section in the post.

But hey, she specifically is of very little interest to me, it just seems to fit the recent Bioware agenda.

If well written, yes. Jemisin speculative fiction strengths may not be conducive to writing a sci-fi novel, though. I'd speculate that her strengths will lead her to write a narrative story about certain personnel and their "boot camp" experiences for the ARKON Project.

I'd prefer a story something a kin to Ender's game. Let's face it, the leaked plot theme is quite similar to Ender's struggles

Did I miss something?? How is the leaked Andromeda plot in any way similar to the Ender series? Maybe if this was a prequel game about the Rachni War, sure...

I can understand this. I hope her focus is more on the sociopolitical issues with regards to the various species and whatever events lead up to and ultimately resulted in some and some not settling in Andromeda, and less with the sociopolitical issues that are occurring today. I'm being vague. Regardless, I do not think her personal opinions are going to effect her writing of this novel. I do hope she has a healthy love of science, like Chris L'Etoile, who himself did not have a science degree but a great love and understanding of it.

Did she only gush about diversity in ME2/3? There was a lot of diversity in ME1 as well. In the first 5 min. of the game we have Captain Anderson and a screenshot of Ashley's squad reveals that the majority of the soldiers are people of color. The diversity continues on from there.

Meh, screwed up, but you still get the point.  Perhaps somebody who knows German or even maybe a native can decipher it.

Seeing as how almost all of the most popular characters and lore of the franchise came out of ME1 I don't think that argument, or the criticism that sparked it, have much merit.

But we have only blue Asari only one green and zero red. Really how can Bioware be so racist and not include more asari of color or non-blue.

They have different shades of blue; pale blue, baby blue, true blue, purplish-blue, dark/navy blue, etc.

Questions to all:

Would you like to have a prequel novel that explains the trip to Andromeda, such as why they left, how they travel, and situations that occur during the trip?

Would you like to read about the new characters and their backstories?

I'd love to read a prequel novel, especially if it explains why they left and how exactly they traveled.

Tab: "Books in German", language specified in book's description: English

Either way, different pic. Maybe that cover from OP (if this book is true) is really just placeholder. Damn, I hope so.

Of course it's a placeholder. None of these tie-in novels just slap quick photoshop jobs with marketing pics as the only asset on the cover. They use original art that's dynamic, to catch the eye.

The second image is marketing artwork for ME: Andromeda, the game. So it's just being used as a placeholder on that retailer's website.

The first "cover pic" might actually be the final version, and I'm not sure why people are freaking out about it. I think it looks fine.

So, i googled the ISBN number and found this: https://issuu.com/mw..._2016_catalogue

In page 39, it says that the book will be released in November 29.

I can't find this book in whole catalogue :|

I'm not saying it's total crap. I just... It's not what BioWare got us used to when it comes to book covers.

Yeah, can't find it either, even though it was there before.

That blog post was so smug and full of virtue signalling she could be reviewing games for Polygon within the year. Agreed with Tzeentch, couldn't be more BioWare if she tried.

Hmmm. Having it on multiple websites makes it seem a little more likely to me.
