From a combat perspective, Shepard is pretty weak statistically compared to some squadmates and especially ME3MP characters both in damage output and survivability. Shep's only outstanding abilies are that of magic Red/Blue yelling dialouge options and the ability to freeze time and space in order to think about what they're going to do next.

I'm no expert,but as far as I can see,it's just gameplay mechanics.

Lore is the only thing that should matter,otherwise,almost any character that Shep defeated/fought alongside with should be stronger than her (Grunt,Wrex,Aria,Saren,Garm and etc...)

Well, gameplay-wise Shepard has more abilities than his squadmates, more damage output and isn't controlled by a stupid A.I.

 

Story-wise I'd think Wrex, Garrus, Samara, Thane, EDI (in Eva's body) or Javik could take him, since they always striked me as the more powerful ones. Possibly Ashley or Kaidan too. And outside of his squad there should be enough people capable of defeating him in a one-on-one battle, like Aria, any Krogan battlemasters, Asari matriarchs or other Spectres. And as we all know, Morinth doesn't even necessarily have to fight him to kill him, though she would also be a though match for him. One should consider that Shepard always had his squad to back him up when facing named bosses ala Tela Vasir, Kai Leng, Saren ect.

Mass Effect 1, Level 60 Adept Shepard wearing Collosus X, and wielding Spectre Master Pistol X, with Master Marksman, Master Lift, Master Throw, Master Warp and Master Stasis (with that class specialisation that lets you damage Stasised enemies) would beat anyone one on one.

Lore ME says she is a female soldier,right? but also a spectre that defeated entire armies (with friends,yeah).

My question is pretty simple.Based on Lore Shepard and her feats,who would be strong enough to beat her?

Shepard is set up to be an elite soldier who went through the toughest military training programmes in the galaxy. I think War Hero Shepard would be better than Sole Survivor or Ruthless Shepard because of that whole 'single-handed colony defence' thing.

I'd say it depends. Maybe some Asari Spectres could beat Shepard. Especially in a situation where they could utilise their powerful biotics and centuries of experience.

She defeated Tela Vasir after a tough battle though,not to mention that Shep met a lot of Asari commandos during her journeys,so she probably knows how to put almost any Asari biotic down since their tactics are pretty much the same.

Shep has feats that no other spectre has too,so as far as I can see,I don't think that there are a lot of guys out there stronger than her,maybe not even as powerful as she is.

It is impossible to be certain,but I would bet on Shep anytime against anyone.

If there was a lore Shepard, it would be John Shepard, the vanilla Paragon Soldier-class Spacer War Hero. Considering he's the special go-to lucky guy who get things done, military-trained with extensive cybernetic enhancements. I guess, the fight would be like replacing the Yahg with him in LOTSB. So.... anyone can do it as long as they work together. Happy days.

 

As for FemShep, despite the Lazarus implants and enhancements, I don't really see her physically stronger than above average ladies (like Ash) and most of the time, I think it was the armor that gave her that strength. Since I roll as Infiltrator most of the time, I always see her as a master at stealth and tacticals which is the reason why she is dependent on her team and how Hackett choose her to coordinate the war effort and handle the politics.

Either way, I've played enough solo/team-insanity nerf-mods Mirror Match and already knew who could handle the swarms of uber-Shepard and sometimes kill them solo.... so it would be between Kaidan and Miranda who could handle tank, biotic and tech specialist Shepards without a sweat.

Earthborn have violent childhood of sort and as Akuze survivor, it could have been a result of cowardice, neither actually fit a pure paragon.

 

Spacer-War Hero is the over-the-top hero of the galaxy trope. Military family, born to be a soldier one-man army.

Past that, based on lore, yea, anyone in the galaxy can beat shepard.  I know, it seems crazy but if you've played insanity, which is the closet you can get to reality in the game with your shields only taking a few hits before failing and your armor likewise weak, then you know any merc can kill you if you aren't careful.  A couple of seconds out of cover and your swiss cheese.  So all it would take is a moment of distraction or a couple of mercs knocking down sheps shields and the commander is dead.  Shepards strength is not physical, though they may be biotc, but knowing how to utilize all their training, weapons, and squad mates to achieve victory, so it only takes a moment of lapsed concentration to kill a spectre, look at Nihlus.

A year ago,Bioware confirmed that Shepard was originally supposed to be a woman,they changed it later when they decided to let the player decides the gender,so yeah,femshep is the true Shep.

 

and back to "some guy against Shepard" thread,I'm still not convinced that someone could be able to defeat Shep.

Shepard killed thousands of Geth,Racchini,Cerberus soldiers,Mercs and even Reapers.

Hell,depending on the actions you take,Shep can even kill Wrex,Kaidan or Ashley with no effort.

Maybe characters like Samara or Javik could be able to give Shep a bad time,but I still can't see them beating her.

...at least if we're going to pretend for a moment that the ME universe is a real place. We sort of have to anyway, because if we're not pretending it is real, no one can kill Shepard, because s/he's protected by invulnerable plot armor.

 

There's a great quote from the movie The Thin Red Line that would apply, if the ME Universe was a real place.

 

"It makes no difference who you are, no matter how much training you got or how tough a guy you might be. When you're at the wrong spot at the wrong time, you're gonna get it."

 

If Shepard was real, s/he survives only because s/he got lucky. That's it.

It was never stated that vanilla Shepard is a pure paragon. If you stick to the default character in every game he is John Shepard, Earthborn Sole Survivor Soldier with Vanderloo face. He is renegon.

Hackett: He saw his whole unit die on Akuze. He could have some serious emotional scars.
Anderson: Every soldier has scars. Shepard's a survivor.

Here's a question: If paragon femshep and renegade femshep had a fight, who would win? Could Shepard even beat Shepard?

 

I mean, the answer is obviously renegade, but it would be nice to hear some wrong different views.
