I love the Normandy, but I don't want it being our protagonists ship.  I was thinking more along the lines of what the writers at Star Trek did with the Enterprise in DS9 and Voyager.  They know of the Enterprise, you may even see the Enterprise, but it was not a vital part of the story.

Do you think a variation of the Normandy should be in ME:A as a "cameo?"

The Normandy was a prototype ship in the first Mass Effect game and performed rather well, I think, so the Alliance may have decided to build additional ones with improved designs. They may have decided to send a number with the Ark so possibly?

Could be interesting to see it with a human-turian crew since it was built as a collaboration between the two races and incorporated designs from both of their ship layouts.

It was a very successful ship.  And I wouldn't be surprised if the "SSV Normandy SR-5" makes its way into the game. Even if it's like a 3 second snippet.  Or if they even talk about the Normandy at all.

Star Trek ships look a bit more Sci-Fi-ish. It's just me, they don't seem to fit for ME imo. Also it depends on the story setting since ME:A is taking place long after the ME3 timeline. Species of the Milky Way could've implemented new interior/exterior designs for their ships but looking at the Ark/Tempest itself in the N7 Day trailer it looks pretty normal/familiar, not extra Schi-Fi-ish. So, our personal starship that we are going to get will probably have the similar feel to it in its design.

The Stat Trek ships are ugly.  I'm just talking about having a variation of the Normandy, or knowing there's another Normandy crew in Andromeda.

I would not be surprised if there's a model of the Normandy  for the main character to display in his/her cabin along with a model of the current ship that will be used in the game

If the people leave for the Milky Way before the end of the reaper war, I don't think they will remember the Normandy as an iconic ship. In ME1, the Normandy was a prototype and participated in the battle of the Citadel, but so did many other warships and later on, more Normandy-class frigates were built so it wasn't one of a kind. The SR2 was first used against the collectors, and not many people even knew about its existence during Shepard's mission, as the whole campaign against the collectors happened with the most of the galactic population unaware. I think the Normandy earned its name as a legendary ship during the reaper war, where it went from planet to planet, forging alliances, helping out people in need etc.

If there is another Normandy, let's hope the pilot doesn't fly into an enemy ship's huge laser and only try and dodge it after he's been hit.

Exactly my point.  If the Normandy was a failure, they wouldn't create more.  Cerberus wouldn't have tried to replicate it.  It is a legendary and iconic ship.  Would the people on the Ark know about it? Probably, we don't know it.  I'm sure they would keep a record of their history.

I like the Normandy and if they are going to bring it back with few variations in its design then I'm totally fine otherwise a complete new iconic ship.

The Star Trek ships are ugly.

The 14 year old me just screamed through time and space.

Also, the Enterprise-E begs to differ:

The Enterprise E is a nice looking ship but the problem the Feds have is that they have to many ship designs. I think that why did poorly at the start on the Doimion war

Back to the original question I would like to see both the SR1 and SR2 design

Enemy Commander: Destroy that ship!

Enemy underling: Sir, the ship is listlessly drifting to the left! Target locking failed!

Enemy Commander: My gods, that's one hell of a pilot.

Joker: Brace for evasive maneuvers.

character: They just flew into our line of fire. What was that about you saying that is one heck of a pilot?

commander: I stand corrected. Glad we have a pilot that would never do that

Everyone hates Star Trek.

Its not even cool to mention it in passing.

It will never have a place anywhere in popular culture.

Why do you people keep forgetting that?

IMO - the "Tempest" (if this is it) shown in the trailers looks pretty well. Plus - in other, pretty much hostile (which is, in term, normal) galaxy we need an Ark - i.e. way bigger ship.

Star Trek ships are alright. My favorite was the USS Defiant, although I didn't care for DS9 as a series.

I'm more a fan of the various Star Destroyers and Battlestars.

My advice is to develop such a great obsession with Coke memorabilia that your sister - who manages a pub - saves all the crap they'd otherwise just throw out for you.

I don't get why people have to be nostalgic about everything, but technically it's possible. Normandy became a base for it's own "Normandy-class" ships, like Ain Jalut for example.

I would like a large ship with no aerodynamic features, designed purely for space, and its not fast but it is reliable. Perhaps even downright ugly and made of parts.
