I thought it would be good to leave him in the Fade, as that makes for a true tragic hero. But maybe... that is too much tragedy?
Warden Carver is the only one left, but with a short life span and unlikely to start a family. And after losing all his loved ones, odds are that he would give up on life and focus entirely on killing darkspawn.

Carver is either a Templar or a Warden. In either case I believe he is whisked away to Wiessheupt to protect him (at least that is the case for Bethany.

The Hawkes's is a greek tragedy through and through. Father dies, oldest Hawke has to take care of the family, blight hits, oldest Hawke and Carver barely survive the battle, sibling dies in the blight, they have to flee to Kirkwall, indentured servitude, no money, sibling might die on the deep roads, blood mages kill mom, war ruins peaceful life, they have to flee again. The story of none of the Hawke siblings's ends with a happy ending.

No, because I like Warden Carver... I did so to Warden Bethany though; I'm not a big fan of her, to be honest.

And with the Wardens needing to be rebuilt and needing new leaders, he has a possible purpose there.
I don't like to leave Hawke in the fade though for other reasons.

I prefer a templar Carver. Much funnier and far less tragic, in addition the rivalry is more pronounced. And I dont left Hawke in the Fade... for the time being.

Tier I - Bloody pile of flesh.
Tier II - Rotting pile of flesh with flies.
Tier III - Decaying mass with maggots.
Tier IV - Skeleton parts lying in rancid puddle.
But seriously though, Carver is much more likeable as the brother who died trying to protect the women (Hawke included).

I prefer the Ogre Fodder version of Carver. I imagine his Heroes of Dragon Age tier system to be...
The problem is that Bethani not very exciting. I could say that poor girl are pretty boring ...

The part with saving Bethany in the Circle and telling Meredith to back off is great too. Bethany is like Marian's lifeline in a flood of chaos. The only real family she has left. Also, Bethany can help Marian against Idunna, which really strengthens the bond and shows Marian as more human rather than some legend.

My canon Hawke was a male mage so I loved the rivalry with Templar Carver and how I felt it just naturally progressed in the game up to the final mission were even when my Hawke sided with the mages Carver stood by his side, to me this made Carver more interesting because he dealt with his own hardship and trails and kind of grew up on his own.

I like sending Bethany to the Grey Wardens, personally. She becomes more bitter, but she also becomes much more independent, and has a chance to see more of the world on her own. She can use her magic freely as a Warden, experience things without Hawke either protecting her or hiding her, and finally seems to me to become her own woman. She begins to see, I feel, that other people besides herself have problems and fears, and can do something to help fight a much larger threat than she would have imagined in Kirkwall.
Carver seems to thrive in the Grey Wardens as well. He truly comes into his own, and explicitly emerges from Hawke's shadow to become a hero in his own right. Good for him! ![]()

Warden Carver also has one of my favorite lines in the game. Final conversation at the Gallows during the endgame:
"I'm proud to be your brother. That's gone unsaid too long. In war, victory Champion."
That might be tied to Friendship though, I always make sure to keep Carver and Hawke on good terms.

It's a no win for the Hawke family if you leave Garret (or whatever you named him) in the Fade.
1. Bethany is mage, now part of the rebellion, or Calpernia's legions one. She doesn't show up in the inquisition if you get the mages, so is probably killed or, goes to Tevinter.
2. Betahny is Warden, sent the Weishaupt but, short life and, if you exile the Wardens, Maker knows what becomes of them and her. Same if Carver is a Warden.
3.Carver is a Templar but, does not show up in the Inquisition so, is likely red.
Seems the only win the Hawkes get is if you don't leave Garret in the Fade. Even then, what is going on with the wardens in Weishaupt? Is that even safe?

No, Varric references her if Hawke goes to Weisshaupt. He says that Sunshine will definitely join Hawke there. I think Hawke can also mention Bethany's whereabouts if asked on the ramparts. I would think Bethany would either be hidden somewhere, or else part of the loyal mages who never broke from the Circles.
2. Betahny is Warden, sent the Weishaupt but, short life and, if you exile the Wardens, Maker knows what becomes of them and her. Same if Carver is a Warden.
There's still the Hero and his cure.

Well, he saw what it did to Meredith. So he probably avoided it. I don't know if Varric mentions him or not.

Maybe we'll find out in DA4.
