It's also because I modded the waves so it's a bit more crowded and enemies are tougher, so wondering around by yourself is very likely to get you killed quickly, sticking together in a good defensive position against really nasty waves makes sense and is fun in my book, but is camping FB Giant considered bad? (we also do a few other maps). I really like that spot.
I tell my pugs and friends to camp farm spawn at FB Giant platinum, is that bad?

Get good and farm white. Smallest map so you don't have to chase enemies.
Or
Snipers hydra/rio is pretty quick too.
In the end, it doesn't even matter. The credits aren't going to make you score higher. L2P, I'm happy with a lvl 20 character and my shuriken III.

If you've modded your game, you make your own rules. Maybe you should limit this to your friends, though. Dropping that bomb on PUGs could be considered bad form.

It's a lot of fun actually. In a modded version. I put a lot of thought into wave comps and tweaked enemy stats to make them a bit more fresh. Most waves change enemies between the same wave as you deplete budget for a certain type, makes the whole game a bit more dynamic. Camping works well because you don't have to run to the other side of the map to save a rambo teammate which is a lot more risky in a modded game. But it's not really boring because waves are different and enemies more challenging. You can try doing it roaming, it's possible to do it, but defending a good spot really makes sense and doesn't get that boring because you're really on your toes for the whole time.
But even in vanilla I love snipe camping maps like Rio at the box of shame, don't really understand why it's considered bad.
