So what do you think it is? And what is it doing in Orlais? To me it seems that the figure depicted is a Qunari, but I don't really have anything else to say... And if this has been asked before/already has a topic about it, feel free to toss rotten tomatoes at me or something.. :D

Hm... I don't think that should be in that location as it looks similar in design to the various Tevinter devices that you see throughout the game.

OK so I found it in the game assets and it is called prp_tev_inspector, so it seems like that is indeed a misplaced Tevinter asset. I was thinking that it might be more desire-demony, but on closer examination it really does look like a Qunari.

Very nice question :D

It does look like a Qunari figure and it does also look like something tevinter. Like nightscrawl said... it could be misplaced. Although you never know, there may be a reason.

I am currently playing through Inquisition again so I will keep my eyes open for if I see this prop anywhere else

^ As far as misplaced assets go, there is a "honeycomb shelf" that is also a Tevinter asset that is seen in numerous locations throughout the game. There are many such assets for different factions. There are also many, many, many areas, large and small, that need set decoration. It doesn't surprise me that there are bound to be some mixups. Or even if it wasn't a mistake, that the set designer thought that the object was generic enough that its placement wouldn't seem odd.

It's the one in Gordians tower, right?

The wiki says that Gordian is an infiltrator from the Venatori, who are Tevinter. So maybe he brought one of his tools with him to do some inspecting? (Or what ever this does.) He also has one of his chairs and some shelving. Probably to remind him of home.

So I don't think this is a misplacement, but more of a flavor decoration.

Hummm... If it's Tevinter I wonder if it could be from the ancient times, could the Imperium have stretched that far? There are astrariums too, which are of Tevinter origin if I remember correctly. But if it's not ancient and Tevinters dragged it all the way to Orlais you'd think it would be used for something(it looks kind of heavy)? But what Krypplingz says seems somewhat more logical to me than it being ancient...

I think it's also interesting that it possibly depicts a qunari, while being a Tevinter artifact.

Looking at it, the mind boggles as to what it could have been used for, regardless of where it originated.   May be that is why Gordian brought it south with him; it was captured from the Qunari and the Venatori are still trying to work out if it could be important.   Alternatively, it is connected with how the Kossith were originally created.    Could it be an elven artefact of some sort?    The Venatori were said to be obsessed with finding anything connected with the ancient elves.

It's very heavily implied the qunari are artificial.

Ah I didn't realize it was in that particular tower. The placement makes sense, then.

Orlais has faced off against qunari during the exalted marches against them no? Maybe it's just some piece of art from that time.
