1.  It took me three or four trys but I finally finished this game. I was running on a less that Ideal Vid card, but I did finish it. I always assumed that My Character was Ugly, no matter how hard I tried to fix that because I was running in a lower Res than I should have, and My Vid Card did not allow me to turn everything all the way up.

2.   I finally got a much much better Vid car, can now play at my Monitors full res, 1920 x 1080 with everything turned up as it should be, and holding a solid 60 FPS, with a once in a while dip to like 56 FPS.

3. Well I thought lets see how DAI looks now, I fire it back up, start a new game, 15 or 20 reboots, and restarts of the game latter.... Every female Character I make is Coyote Ugly, I mean I can get them to look reasonable in the Character creation screen, but then enter the game, and they are terrible.

4. I guess I got spoiled by Skyrim, My characters there were always amazing with little or no effort. I just do not understand why this game makes such Ugly characters.

5. I am not new to creating characters with the in game Character editors. I have looked at the Nexus mods, for skin Eyebrow, and Eyes, and Hair.  But the installation of those mod's is troubling to look at, and seems destined to eventually corrupt your game. I would rather not mess with them.

6. Skyrim mods were a breeze to install, I have no problems with them, but the mods for this Mostly not designed for mods game seem at best Unsafe, and un trustworthy.

Just getting the DAIModmanager made me jump through several hoops, and at best this makes me feel that they are rather Shady applications, and the learning curve for them seem to be poorly applied. as to how to even use them.

I should not need them anyway. I wonder why they hate the female character at Origin so bad, as to make creating a pretty one so Hard with out third party applications to help, I would much rather not mod a game that was not designed to be modded, to Me that is just asking for trouble.

7.  So can you actually make a pretty female character with this game, that looks good from all angles, and not just in the Video scene, but at all times during the game ?

8. I just have no desire to wade through this game again with another Ugly character, it is very distracting to me to see mostly reasonable looking NPC all around my character, and then see my Ugly character among them.  There has to be some way to create a fair looking female with out resorting to all these third party game crushers, I just don't want to use any mods for this game, they seem way to unsafe.

{ EDIT } as much as I hate the Ugly armor I don't even want to use a mod to fix that, but that is one type mod I would consider

I certainly think it's possible to make a good looking female character in the game without mods, even if it can be hard. For instance, I'm not great at it, but my girlfriend can make nice characters, like this one:

Rowan.

inM6dNY.png

I'll spoiler some more shots with different lighting and expressions, since you mentioned your characters not looking the same or as good depending on the situation, and you can make your own judgements.

Spoiler

Obviously tastes will vary, but in my opinion, she looks pretty, and still looks good no matter the facial expression or lighting, even if it can change her look. I've also seen good ones in the "Post pictures of your Inquisitor" thread even without mods.

Yes Banshee she is nice I have made some Very close to the same as that one, and straight in the face, and in lowere light they normally looked reasonable, but although it is a nice face, it still lacks what i would call true Beauty. In my Opinion, everyone as you say has different Ideas about what is pretty.

I think the Hair is one of the most daunting aspects I run into when trying to make a pretty face, it is just soo Blaa! I mean none of the hair styles are what I like, I prefer the parted in the middle { Alice The madness returns look ) but there really is not one of those.

Also the parted on the side might now be so bad if it did not have to cover the face so much, but that also helps as the faces are such a disaster that any of it that can be covered up is probably a good Idea.

This would be what i would be looking for, and Oblivion face I used a lot.

But I can see that Origin has a long way to go when it comes to Character creation Editor

I do hope they improve this before releasing Andromeda.. and yes I had many mods for Oblivion, but Oblivion was designed for mod's and installing, and removing Mods was easy.  as it also is in Skyrim

Here is one of My skyrim Girls

It is just really hard to enjoy the game when your character does not feel right.  So I do hope they do better next time the release a character editing software in there game engine.

I would like to play the game through again, but the character's I have been able to create so far are rather lack luster :(

{{ EDIT }} Oh! Here is My shepard

I have a mix of characters that used and didn't use mods. And I have really liked all of them.

Since you seem to be after a particular sort of look, I would highly recommend that you look at modding, once again. It is actually just as easy as Skyrim (in my opinion), since some excellent people came up with the DAIModManager. Using the mod manager makes things incredibly simple. It is just a matter of setting up a folder (I usually place it on my desktop, for ease of use), that I place all the mods I might want to use). You can get the latest version of the mod manager from the following site, and it also has a nice tutorial you can use. It is pretty much a point and click sort of system. Here is the link: http://daimodder.tumblr.com/

Just be sure to back up your save files, through Documents -> Bioware -> Dragon Age Inquisition -> Saves. I usually just take a copy of the whole Save folder, and place it on a separate HDD that I have. But you can just place it in another folder you create, somewhere else on the same HDD/SSD (whichever you use).

Here is an example of something you can create, with mods. (this is my Cate Blanchett inspired Petra Trevelyan, human mage.)

Petra3_zpsbfiyzuez.jpg

More under the cut..
Spoiler

The mods used in that first (and second) picture are as followed:
1)Settrah Eyebrows - updated version
http://daimodder.tum...aireplaces-most

2)Side braid with bun
http://www.nexusmods...ion/mods/1239/?

3)SK Hair Retexture (smooth and Trespasser compatible)
http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/704/?

4)All about the face (face retexture nose freckles + half moles/makeup version)
http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/906/?

5)Trespasser Skyhold pajamas and schematics (her armor is from this mod, it is one of the MP character's armor. **NOTE** must have the Trespasser DLC, for this to work)
http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/906/?

6)Improved Lashes
http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/600/?

Hope this helps. :)

*NOTE*
Some mods don't work with the Black Emporium (i.e. Face textures). They will freeze your game. If you need to make changes, just use the mod manager to disable those mods, remerge, then you can use the BE. Once you have closed out of the game again, you can then remerge the face texture mod.

Also, the hairstyle mods don't show up in the Mirror, in the Black Emporium, however, they shouldn't cause you any problems using the BE. Just remember which hairstyle your mod is replacing, and be sure to set it to that particular vanilla hairstyle in the Mirro at the Black Emporium. Once you leave the Emporium, the new hairstyle will show up on your character. ;)

I have actually downloaded most everything you showed, but upon firing up the modmanager, I seem to not understnd something or it does not look right.

Modmanager01.jpg

Perhaps you could direct me, or explain what i am missing, I assumed that I showed the manager where the game EXE was then where the mod was, and that would be it, but it does not seem to look right to me, and I stopped at that point.

Don't click mod itself in Mod Path. Navigate only to the folder with your mods.

Here's tutorial that might help: http://daimodder.tum...anager-tutorial

Ha, thanks! Well, she is one of my characters, but not my creation. My girlfriend gave me her sliders when she convinced me to do a Cullenmance playthrough. So I borrowed her, sort of  The reason I have so many reaction shots of her is because the Xbox One only got a screenshot feature when I was almost done my playthrough of my canon Inquisitor, so I ended up with a lot more shots of Rowan instead.

My character happens to look similar, just not as pretty.

*snip*

Indeed. From what I can see from your characters, I'm going to agree with the others who are recommending mods, since it seems like you'd definitely like some fancier/more elegant/longer hair and more eyebrow options. Mods won't really help you with the facial structure though, so I'll just have to say keep trying until you find something you like, or ask someone for sliders of a character you like.

The hair in DA:I is definitely lacklustre and lacking in variety, so I don't blame you for not finding anything to your liking. Heck, the only one I actually like is the one I posted. The shoulder length default hair is alright, but I hate the sideburns... Another thing mods can fix. Alas, I can't help you more with those since I'm not on PC.

I hope you find what you're looking for!

Your character also looks good. (Not harder to create a good-looking female character, than a good-looking male, I think. In the Mass Effect harder create a nice character, but there I have only male Shepards. The problem in the Inquisition to create a good looking Hawke, who similar to your DA2 Hawke.)

I have more focus on males (human). I envy you. ;) I can at least make females presentable (enough that I don't go crazy over it). Males makes me batty. I wish their defaults weren't so crappy. I'm not a 3d artist, and it's stupid for them to assume everyone is. CCs are overrated. It doesn't help that I'm XOne too.

All of these superficial options, but then they railroad the classes and Stats. This is not RPG'ing to me.

I envy someone focused on female characters. I think they're better looking on average and easier to work with.

Focusing is probably an exaggeration, but I have one female Inquisitor, I do not think it ugly, and I spent less time to create her than my guys.

Yeah, I don't really like the word focus either.

I just have a male concept in my head, and I'm determined to see it play out. But the game brings me down.

All of the characters sometimes look weird in game. There is some pretty funny facial expression ... Male or female characters, no matter.

Thank you, I'm glad you like her too :) I don't think I would be very good an making a male character, but I haven't really tried. If I made one in ME, I'd probably just use the default or the Cullen mod

I totally agree that making Hawke look like your DA2 Hawke is very difficult, especially since most of DA2's hairs are gone.

That's pretty sad too. DA2 had better hair in general.

I've always had the problem where I really love the way my character turns out in the CC but immediately become horrified by their face once the first scene plays. I'll painfully play through the intro and unlock the BE asap if I'm determined to have the character. My males are easy, though.

I could have sworn that there was a whole website devoted to sharing inquisition sliders but now I can't seem to find it :(

To the OP: It is entirely possible to make a nice-looking inquisitor without mods, unless the hair or eyebrows are deal breakers for you.The hair is one of the most common complaints around here, with good reason, but in my (subjective) opinion, hair doesn't have much to do with beauty, just enhances it sometimes.

The problem with the CC is all the options. It is extremely expressive but that also makes it hard to use.

I don't know if this will help others, but what I do is find a picture of a celebrity I like. I get both a front and profile view, or as close as I can, and put them near the bottom of my screen. Then I run DAI in windowed mode and shrink my window until I can see the pics and my inquisitor at the same time.

Next, I choose a preset that seems not too far off, then a head shape. At this point I'm still pretty much shooting in the dark; none of them really match but I need a starting point.

Then, I go through all the sliders and start asking myself questions like, how long is the distance between eyes and end of nose? Is it the same as the distance between eyes and chin, or slightly longer? How big is their chin compared to their mouth? How square is their jaw? What shape are their lips? And on and on, adjusting the sliders as I go. Then one more pass to tweak the details.

Finally, I change the hair color and a few other details so it looks more like my own creation and less like a celebrity corpse.

Once I started using reference materials I got better results than just pushing each slider in the least offensive direction. Hope that helps.

Some more tips: If you aren't already, be sure to check your inquisitor's face from all angles before entering the game. Turn off lip gloss and use a light touch with makeup. Try to get your eyes centered in your head vertically, or close to it: it makes a bigger difference than you'd think.
