That's pretty sad too. DA2 had better hair in general.

At least Garrett's hair is still there, but I wish the default Marian's was.

It did, and part of why it did was because it had all of DA:O's hair and added more. If DA:I took all of DA2's hair and added more, that would have been awesome. Yes... I definitely wish Marian's hair was in DA:I. DA:I Marian looks nothing like her... And I'd like to use it myself, too. I don't like hair only NPCs/default PCs can use

Thank you maybe i will try.

My Shepard (I spent a long time with create him, I'm not satisfied with the success...):

Spoiler

My Hawke (DA2, Inquisition – I miss his hair, yes...)

Spoiler

Nice Shepard :) Reminds me of DA2 Cullen.

I've always had the problem where I really love the way my character turns out in the CC but immediately become horrified by their face once the first scene plays. I'll painfully play through the intro and unlock the BE asap if I'm determined to have the character. My males are easy, though.

Yeah, that's a problem a lot of people have (though not me, somehow, yay!). I think most of the reason is the lighting, and the rest is angles, because you can't adjust the crappy fade-lighting in the opening CC and you can only look on the X axis. I hope the next CC lets you look around from any angle and perhaps change the lighting through a few presets, like "Sunny day", "Indoor lighting", "Moonlight", that sort of thing.

That would explain why the character would look awesome as long as she didn't turn her head or move at all post CC :P. I love all the options we have when it comes to creating them and wouldn't trade it, but I would like a mini-scene before submitting it to make sure everything looked right. I get so embarrassed for my character if their future LI is in the intro and their face is, I don't know, lopsided or something. :P :D.

Haha, now that you mention it, really! Thank you! And this was not my goal, believe it or not ... But this type comes in for me, sadly not romanceable for my guys... Then, lucky Alenko with the Cullen look-alike Shepard!  ;)

I finally took your advise Coldwetn0se, and installed a few skin mods, I never could quite get a Human like I wanted, but I finally managed to make and Elf that I can live with, she is sort of the tomboy cute type, sort of. I know is not the best, but I think i can deal with this one

Here are some image's of her I put together

Like with most things practice makes perfect. For me the flaws can actually be a good thing sometimes, because they make me appreciate different kinds of beauty than I normally prefer. Then again, there is nothing wrong with having preferences.  :)

This dwarven Inquisitor was my third time wrestling with the CC, but I am very happy with how she turned out (no mods obviously).

l5CvAb5.jpg

I later also made a male Trevelyan (spoilered for size)

Spoiler

So yeah, practice and not dismissing new untried hairstyles/nose sizes/eye shapes is the key to making good looking and interesting characters.  :)

Nice looking elf! :)

I only have five characters (out of ummm...a lot  ), that use mods - so far. One elf and one human, have only modded hair and eyebrows ; I kept the default face textures for them, since it fit them best. And I only have three humans (one male, two females). My favorite mod is probably the Trespasser/schematic mod I mentioned, since I LOVE some of those armor schematics (i.e. Trespasser and MP armors). One of my favorite play throughs, was my female dwarf. I didn't mod her at all. The vanilla CC ended up suiting her perfectly. But a lot of that comes from how I am role playing certain characters. Petra was meant to be a fairly pampered circle mage. Think Vivienne, but much more sweet and diplomatic. ;) Using all those mods on her, was befitting of such a character.

More than anything, I am just happy that we have some nice mods to play around with.

I could totally try new nose sizes/eye shapes, but you're not going to make me use hair that either looks horrible, or makes my character look like a guy. Or both  :P  Because of the below:

I feel your pain. I can't believe Bioware actually thought it was acceptable to have sideburns on supposedly gender-neutral hair! And male-pattern baldness/receding hairlines. Like... really? Even on the "feminine" looking styles! They could have just had sideburns in the, you know, facial hair section, but that would make too much sense or something. I once tweeted Mike Laidlaw about it and it took a while for him to even admit there might be a problem. Like... holy disconnect! Even ignoring the problem of most styles not being liked by most people, the whole default-male-ness is a huge issue. Combine them, and it's just terrible.

It's too bad we're not on PC, since there's a mod to disable sideburns there. My first character has the same hairstyle as you, and it really irked me too. I had to just use the only other style I liked for my other 2 characters.

Anyway, there's my mini-rant  Here's hoping this gets promptly and completely fixed for future games.

More than anything, I am just happy that we have some nice mods to play around with.

1.  Thank You! The elf is kind of growing on me. I will keep picking at a human, maybe I can make one that is acceptable eventually.

2.    It is very sucky that Origin producers can hardly ever make nice characters with classic Cover girl looks, they seem to always make these Girls that you might find in some back alley Beer joint...

3.   The thing I have against the Mods is some places they can cause  CTD, I know I think My Eyebrow mod or maybe its the eye mods. ( That is a problem trying to remember which one it is )  won't work right in the Emporium.

So if I go there, I have to remember which mod to turn off, or just quit, and disable them all. That was one of the things that kept me from Installing any mods ( when I would read there doc's ), some won't show in the Vid scene's, and some wont work in the Emporium, some need a particular DLC which I have none, as I bought the Game day one for 70 buck's, and now I think you can get the Game with all DLC's for like less than 40 Bucks...... I just refuse to be taken advantage of, if I bought all the DLC's I would have over three times what any new player would have in the game... It just seems wrong.

I keep telling myself I will wait a year before buying any new game, no matter how much I want it, because in a year normally all the bugs are fixed, and you can get it for half price, and many times with all the DLC's Maps, and considerable more, for just being patient.  ( But I never Manage to do it   )

The face textures and eye textures (not the brow replacers), are generally the ones that cause the problem with the BE. I usually just disable those - and the hair smooth retexture, to be on the safe side - if I want/need to go to the BE.

As for CTD, I have never had one with the mods. However, I did try running around with another character that ended up having problems with hard freezes (my M!Qunari), and as soon as I disabled certain mods, and then did a remerge, things got fixed.

From the mods you are using though, you should be just fine. Of course, with the exception of disabling certain mods, when you decide to spend time in the BE. Good luck and have fun.

Hey, maybe this thread might help: http://forum.bioware...ruggle-with-cc/

It's true that mods help to make good-looking characters, but you can live without them.

Like, for example, this was my second character without mods:

DragonAgeInquisition2014-11-3014-34-28-9

I don't think she looks coyote ugly (hair sucks though)

5. I am not new to creating characters with the in game Character editors. I have looked at the Nexus mods, for skin Eyebrow, and Eyes, and Hair.  But the installation of those mod's is troubling to look at, and seems destined to eventually corrupt your game. I would rather not mess with them.

6. Skyrim mods were a breeze to install, I have no problems with them, but the mods for this Mostly not designed for mods game seem at best Unsafe, and un trustworthy.

You don't have to worry about mods corrupting your game AFAIK. At worst, certain cosmetic mods will freeze the game when trying to load Black Emporium or The Descent, for example, which is annoying but easily fixed by merging w/o those mods when visiting BE etc.

I think the main thing that destroys any character that you try to make is the Hair, and the eye's...Yes the Eye's or the skin, makeup, lashes, what ever around them.

You can easy make a character that looks fine up close, or in Vid scenes, but get in the game ( bright light is worst ) back away from them a little, and suddenly when you look at them they look like a heroin Addict in withdrawal, or Crack Wh0re.

I know some people could care less what there character looks like, but it is a very important aspect of my game play, especially if I am entertaining any RPG romance options, just as when I go dancing, or to a party where I might meet someone in real life, it is a natural tendency for me to try and look my best.

I think that is how most people are, my Brother would spend hours primping in front of the bathroom mirror, and then complain about my taking any time there at all. We all or most of us I think like to look our best.

Things I hate [ Slouchy looking clothing, or clothing that does not fit snugly in all places { which this game has a lot of }, unclean looking face { I have never desired to have a dirty face, screw realism this is fantasy! }.

Also, bad posture this games main character ( At least the female has the most awful posture, sometimes she looks like she is in the latter stages of osteoporosis ) hunched over standing in a very slouchy fashion ( I mean she is the Herold, and with VIv around I would think she would be scolding the hero all the time about it ). I can hear her now "Standup Straight My Dear, the world is watching you, don't give them anything to talk about"

I did try that page, and it was very helpful. I am still not totally happy with my Human Girl, but she is acceptable sort of.  I know Bioware tried very hard to improve there CC, but I think it still need some work..

Probably the eyebrows, and a lot more hair styles would help, and maybe just a little smoother, and less greasy are oily looking skin, it seems okay in most cut scene's, and most dialogue scene's, but in the game world or action part of the game the skin seems very harsh, and reflective.

It's entirely possible to fashion extremely good-looking characters and get a really good-looking game using the assets that DA:I provides you with out of the box, and there are any number of examples of that on this here very forum.

I've personally found the CC to be one of the most comprehensive I've come across and I would respectfully suggest that if you can't actually create a character that you want using it, then you're not trying hard enough. :P

That is clearly just my opinion though. ;)
