ME3 plot so strong? lol....right.

Do you even multiplayer bro or was that just really heavy sarcasm?

I was so addicted to multiplayer I probably needed psychological help.

And I'm talking about the basic plot of the series. Why everyone loves Mass Effect in the first place. The flaws in ME3 aren't enough to counter the awesomeness that culminated in the space battle.

Honestly I didn't think the ending was that bad. Probably because I marathoned the whole trilogy in 2013 for the first time so I didn't have any expectations based on the first two games and judged the trilogy as one single game. Like, I wasn't hoping it would conform to the previous two games. It was all just one game to me.

Nah I don't mind the ending much but I didn't really consider mass effect to be having a very deep and subtle plot. It wasn't bad by any means but I enjoyed the game more because of its variety of interesting characters, gameplay and the whole space opera setting. Also the whole indoctrination ending was interesting although it doesn't seem to have a lot of fans here.

Multiplayer though, the plot had nothing to do with that for me. The gameplay was awesome and you got to play as krogans, turians and asari in a co-op setting, pretty much an instant win! In fact I still come back to play ME3 mp if I can get the time.

Not every game needs to beat you over the head with "war is bad, mmkay?".

I agree, but I wish the actual 'war' part were done better.

Well, me too.........   Kind'a.  I first played ME2 in 2011?  2010?  Something like that.  It was either Thanksgiving or Christmas.  I remember this because those are the only two holidays where I'm consistently drunk.  Anyway, bought the game thinking I would hate it.  Absolutely hate it, one end to the other.  Played through that night.  Next day, what the hell, I'll fire it up again.  12 hours later?  This game's alright.  I'll give it a go until the end.  Next day, fired it up again.   12 hours later and suicide mission later where some people died, "I can do better than that!"

Started the game again.  This time I realized what a masterpiece it was, and it's where my sig comes from.  I literally forgot the name of Star Wars.

Been a smooth ride ever since.

What glory?

The type Cailan was chasing at Ostagar.

Y'know, right up until the Ogre got him.

Too complicated and won't sell well to the "greater unwashed". These casual gamers are uninterested in exercising two neurons.

Why so cynical?  :(

This is why the mass effect fandom is not completely cancerous. Why should they pander to the masses? Shouldn't they worry about making the game good?

I just played a BioWare RPG conversation where a general is the commanding officer of a battalion, which is attacked by a single platoon without the platoon getting immediately turned into Swiss cheese.

I feel like it'd be easy to improve on that.

"All I'm saying is that this comic is reactionary militarist pamphlet, all they ever do is fight all the time!"

"And what's so wrong with that? I suppose you think we should all go around touching each others bottoms. "Dan Dare touches The Mekons bottom". Exciting new story: "Batman gooses The Jokers crack"!"

The butcher of Torfan apparently led the invasion of an entire planet, at the head of squad.

I don't expect Bioware writers to be Tom Clancy...but they're a bit like the NCIS writers and hacking when they delve into anything military.

The larger point is valid, but in this case Torfan was just a small moon with a bunker on it.  Shepard led "some amount" of marines to take the bunker.  Although what is unclear is what Maj Kyle actually did there.

Even if the whole Torfan op is reduced to a single squad taking down a bunker, it still would be a fairly nonsensical story line. Torfan was described as the main base for the Batarians' terrorist and pirate proxies, so there should have been more than just a handful of people in a single bunker. Think ISIS and Raqqa in Syria. It also is the final battle of the Skyllian Blitz, and it's hard to imagine it as being a catastrophic defeat for the Batarians if they only lost less than a dozen people. That barely qualifies as a skirmish.

Torfan would have made more sense if it was described in a way that implied orders of battle for both sides involved much more than a squad or two, that Shepard wasn't in overall command of the Alliance forces, and that Shepard's role was no more than maybe taking down a command bunker during an operation that involved a host of units besides his/her own and hundreds, if not thousands, of participants.

I remember watching that scene for the first time. I think that was when my feelings about NCIS went from mild annoyance to actual dislike.

The highlights of that video are the random jerk eating a sandwich not knowing what the frak is going on, and the silver clown unplugging the monitor.

Both serving as a vibrant demonstration of the credit the NCIS writers give their viewing audience. Harmon's character, a guy who physically abuses his subordinates and thinks that unplugging a monitor can stop a hack, is supposed to be smarter than the others.

When really, they're all equally stupid in different ways.

isn't NCIS that one show that made an offensive episode stereotyping gamers?

Edit: Nope, it's law and order.

In your defense they're all pretty much the same show.

All those procedurals are carbon copies of each other with the same stock characters.

Yep, seeing as how Shep and co are akin to a group of LARPers playing war for the weekend. Shepard doesn't even display basic military tactics, his usual plan is "go here and shoot things". That he's both a fireteam leader and (de facto) captain doesn't make much sense either.
