When we win wars we usually think of what we've won. What about what we've lost? What about those things and people? You go off to war and win. Come back with a missing leg and maybe you're family is dead or your best friend in your squad was blown to pieces. Where's glory then?Well, your "truth" is a opinion. so those that mean it is "$#!t" too?

I don't need luck. It's the truth. Opinions aren't $#¡t here. War is nasty business. Is there anyone here who has actually been in a war?
I was referring to you becoming a marine.
We don't need to fight in a war to know that it's atrocious.
It would be great if you calmed down.

I'm not going for the glory or the honor. I feel I should do my part to keep my people and country safe. No matter what. You should read heminway or this guy O'Brien. There is much to learn.I was referring to you becoming a marine.

... I'm sorry...
Please forgive me if I've angered anyone...
I just... war in my eyes is killers fighting other killers... it's bad people fighting other bad people on the orders of more bad people... it isn't a place for good people or heroes. It's just violence. Paramedics, doctors, firemen, therapists... people like that are heroes in my eyes...
I guess... I just respect the people more who say that they're not going to fight... that they're not going to kill on behalf of people who don't know or care about them... I'd respect someone who refused to kill and was executed for it much more than someone who pulled the trigger...
Even in a video game like this... nearly everyone is a bad person to me. I'm playing as a villain... and that's why I don't mind if a character doesn't represent me... because they're not me. I'd go cry in a corner instead of fight haha x
I hope I haven't upset anyone with this.
I'm really sorry if I have...
You don't have to apologize for having an opinion. I'm not that big on the military myself but without getting into a big thing about it, I'll say that I more disagree with how Governments use their military rather than the existence of a military itself.
In general I'll agree that paramedics, firemen, etc. are all heroes as well.
A character which doesn't kill can make for an interesting story like say, Batman. The problem is that when you get into the real world, we're not all billionaires with overly expensive gadgets designed to disable but not kill. There are a lot of bad people out there who aren't interesting in talking or peace. They're interesting in killing everybody who isn't like them, and they need to be stopped. Sometimes killing one evil person can save far more lives than pulling somebody out of a fire, but both people doing those actions would be heroes in my opinion.
Peace is the noblest aspiration, but to preserve it you must be willing to fight.

Where is the "BURN THEM ALL!!" option?
We all have enough of tiresome and bothersome war, and ever since All Quiet on Western front the trope of bad war has been used up.

You thought it was scary? The only thing I thought at the time was "oh bloody hell, not this again."

One of these days I'm gonna be able to determine a thread's topic based on its most recent responses, I just know it. Not today, but soon.
Ahem.
Games giving us multiple options to do things is always a plus. So being able to tackle colonization in a couple of different ways would be sweet. ME's been pretty good at giving us at least two ways to solve big issues in the past, so I don't see that changing anytime soon. I doubt they're gonna make Ryder (or however you spell their name) into a space-Christopher Columbus, but obviously settling's not gonna be peaceful either. Since all we can do at this point is speculate, my guess is that we'll have a decent enough reason for colonizing Andromeda and - while we're probably all gonna arrive at the same location - the paths we take to get there are gonna differ. I'd like for there to be both negative consequences and rewards for settling aggressively and diplomatically, but that's ultimately gonna come down to how much freedom they'll give us in regards to determining Ryder's personality. Since they're not 'required' to save the galaxy like Shepard, they could probably afford to be a bit more selfish/ruthless, but we'll see.

It's less likely the longer the thread goes on =P
I mean if you look at the silent protagonists thread, there was like 5 pages where we were talking about the science of Human behaviour.

It did not help that I do not think we did anything in the sequences, as far as I can recall, except running. I felt like it became a bit tedious and think it might have been better as a cutscene if they had to have sequences.
Such sequences with limited interaction can be done like sometimes in Telltale's games where it is for dangerous situations or to keep the player on their toes by instilling a sense of paranoia or build up to a scare. Most of the time, when it is done for quiet moments, there are plenty of things to examine which sometimes have quips from the character or sometimes even can expand on something like characters or the universe.
Do Mass Effect have an auto-move button? Because I feel I could have used one for, amongst others, the dream sequences.

Those can be skipped, I hope you know. Just by turning around and running the other way. (away from the kid) Or rather, the ending scene can't be skipped, but you know what I mean, you chasing after him can be.

Huh, could have sworn I'd tried that. Thanks, I'll try to remember that skip trick next time.
