It's my canon in DAI... Annnnnd that's basically it... But yeah, I've heard a lot of compliments about my sig; is my Sig famous or something?

I see, well I dunno if it's famous but it sure is very noticeable. Must be that bright blue color and the huge font!

This thread has a very... interesting perspective about what middle aged actually is.

Indeed. It reaffirms to me just how young many of the people here really are. Sometimes an individual will tip his or her age during a debate with another forum goer with the behaviors and views expressed. (I don't mean that to sound condescending, and I have never pointed it out, previously.) Still, it's easy to forget your own age when discussing things like video games until something reminds you. ;)

It's good to know that the games I love continue to bring in new fans. They are in no danger of fading away as my generation's gamers gradually dwindle through attrition. It's also cool to see people brought together by common interests who might not otherwise have interacted much. I see this all the time in other things I do, but rarely in recreation.

I'd love to see my favorite games tailored specifically to my maturing interests. I have seen this happen to an extent, since many of the devs are around my age. Still, it makes sense that the devs keep a broader perspective in mind. Start developing games strictly for the 35+ crowd, and that's who will buy your games. They clearly are doing a pretty good job balancing all our wants, so far.

I agree, except for the last sentence. DAI is their most childish game so far. Despite some mature things.

Ah, DA is going down the path of Fable. Which sucks. Stap yourself Bioware.

I don't care about ages of LI's that much in video game cause my characters aren't me and I prefer alien romances anyways and ages with them can be quite different. But in general I think best option would be just give more options. Some LI's that are younger or look/feel younger like Liara/Tali and some that don't like Samara. It's quite simple solution ^^;

I considered middle age to be 40 to about 60. I could give or take a few years depending on a persons health and vitality.

I always headcanon my characters as the same age as me. Whenever I get the next Mass Effect, I will headcanon my characters age as the same as mine.

As for romancing middle aged... I am currently 24 years if age. Were I searching for a relationship, I would not mind 18 to 35. Especially if the girl looks like Miranda. But 40? Would she be a unique girl? Would she even be okay knowing that I am 24? I cannot speak for all women, but from what I have seen, numbers are very important to them.

I agree, but more in general. I think its always weird how young PC and characters generally are in games (some games it makes sense, but in others its like wtf?). Like Commander Shepard needed to be in her late 20s or older to make her rank believable to me. ME is more of an adult oriented game so I think it would be normal for characters to be mid 20s to late 30s. I wouldn't mind an early 40s either. Anything less just seems out of place.

Middle age was always like the 50s to me. Even if not technically "middle" life span.

But it's when your hair is screwed (for many) and you go through a mid-life crisis apparently.

Biologically, the majority of those in their 30s will begin getting grey hair and by 40s everyone is starting to sport winkles or other signs of aging. Basically once you hit about 25 its all downhill aging. So lol most of that starts A LOT earlier than middle age.

she is 106-108.

Yet that is like a child / teenager in Asari years.

Liara creeped me out. She was never my LI or my friend. I felt like I was around a child genius and that was freaky.

I've never liked Liara. Shepard has only very rarely spoke to her at all in most of my playthroughs. In the first game, she, as you said, just seems like a child genius and is too... nice. In the second and third games she's like a teenage psychopath.

It's just wrong and disgusting to me and moraly wrong, I only date people my age or older because there is actually chance of something permanent.

That's fine. That your preference.

So in Dragon Age inquisition the two women romancible by men are both in their 30's (Casandra late 30's and Josephine mid 30's).

I thought Josephine was younger... didn't know that.

Younger than 40, but like I pointed out earlier..  the average gamer age is 31.

Same, I'd have said Josie was around 30.  Must be the Disney dress.

Josephine is between 27-29 in Dragon Age: Inquisition according to her writer.

I approve of this. I'm 36 but I don't see myself as middle-aged yet lol.

Also, I think that women like Miranda And Yennefer are pretty sexy looking still at that age, I would guess they're in their thirties. They're my favorite female characters.

So, I've seen some errors regarding the romances in Inquisition so I'm just going to point out that:

- There was a total of eight romances (two with advisors and six with companions).

- Most of the romances in DA:I are, in comparison with previous games like DA:O, older. Blackwall appears to be somewhere between 45-55 years old, while Weekes stated that Solas appeared to be around 40-ish. Cullen, Iron Bull, Dorian and Cassandra all appear to be somewhere between 30-40.

- I could not find the quote, but I am pretty sure it has been stated that Josephine is the youngest LI and in her mid-twenties.

Now, in regards to the original topic, I would very much like to see some variation in ages - we did get Blackwall in DA:I so maybe there will be a female version for ME:A? Sadly there seems to be a general reluctance to have older women in romantic roles, and when they are featured they often appear younger (like Liara).

That's because you're not. You're still young. And you have many years to go before you're considered middle aged even by the official definition, which is likely to change to be older at some point due to a generally aging population across the world. "Middle aged" essentially refers to the time in which a person has lived half of their life - and because people are living to an older age, it's just going to increase. Middle aged may one day be considered fifty five years old. You're not anywhere close to being middle aged, even with the definition at the moment, so yes, you are still young.

As a woman in my early thirties I just wanna say that you're my new favourite person.  :D

I never liked Shala'Raan as a character. I never have. I have no idea why though. It's quite funny when you hear the same voice actress on Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters (a terrible, absolutely terrible film), though.

Youre right. It all depends on the type of person really. Age is only a number. Sure some people have their preferences but it's best not to discriminate.
